Angie Hicks, Angie’s List founder: “When it comes to travel, more consumers are doing it themselves. But if your trip is complicated and it’s expensive, traveling internationally or having multiple cities during your destination, a travel agent may be able to make the process a lot easier. It might be surprising to consumers, but a lot of times there may not be a fee for you to use a travel agent. A travel agent oftentimes gets paid by the hotel chains or other vendors.”
Mark Moorhead, The Travel Agent: “We are destination specialists in I believe 37 different countries which means we have passed courses, been to the country and visited we’ve really studied it through and though. So whether it’s Australia, Thailand or Italy we know the country side we know the right time to go and the right time you might want to stay away. Quite frankly, there has been a very big misconception the OTA, online ticketing agency, have spent millions of dollars to get across to the public that they are less expensive, half priced and so forth. But, when in reality they are travel agencies just like we are they sell the same product for the same price. Unfortunately, you have to do all the work and you have to do all the research. So, we provide the service of providing you the information and the inside scoop on which cruise line is most appropriate for the family versus a honeymoon versus a family reunion. Which tour would be the most optimum whether you are taking a bus ride or whether you are traveling independently or quite frankly which is the most inexpensive routing for airline tickets and airlines.”
