Angie's List Makes the List of Healthiest Companies to Work For in America
INDIANAPOLIS (October 21, 2013) – A strong commitment to creating a workplace that’s happier and healthier has landed Angie’s List on an impressive list of the 46 healthiest companies to work for nationally.
Today’s ranking by Greatist.com, a health and fitness website, cites the company’s on-site gym and health incentives, including gift cards for taking part in wellness programs and additional time off for running a marathon, as reasons why Angie’s List is among the healthiest companies to work for. Greatist.com said it was “most impressed” with the Angie’s List Garden Club. The program teaches participants how to grow and maintain a vegetable garden on campus that provides healthy food options for employees.
“Our employees are our greatest asset and every investment we make in them pays off in ways far beyond the bottom line,” said Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks.
Joining companies like Google, Nike, Twitter and General Electric, Angie’s List was the only company in Indiana to make the list. Greatist.com said it looked for businesses that not only make health and wellness a top priority, but those with “perks that go truly above and beyond what’s expected.”
Health programs and incentives at Angie’s List include:
• On-site gym available to employees and their families
• Group exercise programs and access to personal trainer
• Fit Points program that offers financial incentives for taking physical, nutritional and financial classes
• Smoking cessation program that includes a $1,000 reward for kicking the habit
• On-site day care and parenting classes
• On-site garden that gives employees access to fresh vegetables
• Annual bio-metric screenings and flu shots
• Comprehensive health care coverage
Earlier this year, Angie’s List was the only Indiana company featured on Interactive Health’s 2012 “Healthiest Companies in America” list. The workplace health program provider based the honor on the health risk status of employees and participation in wellness programs.
