It was a great experience.  The job started out with a flagstone walkway and the contractor suggested a water feature to enhance an area on the walkway where a small patio was attached.  What a great idea!  We love it!

Bjorn Neumann has serviced my koi pond two years in a row. I have used other companies in the area, and he is by far the best! In addition to doing the cleaning, he reworked the water pump positions and piping to improve water circulation and make the pumps easier to access and clean. The parts that he used are much stronger than what I had. Bjorn recommended some pond care products that were new to me. I really like the barley pellets over certain chemicals or mini barley bales. I have learned new things from him on each visit. Other companies do not want to teach you how to care for your pond better. I highly recommend him based on his expertise, quality workmanship and his reasonable prices.

AEast Coast Landscape Design
The company was amazing to work with!  They designed a beautiful oasis in our backyard, completed the job on time, and within budget.  A few months later we called the company back because a couple of the trees did not take root well - within a few days after our call they replaced the trees at no additional cost.  East Coast Landscape Design exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend the company to fulfill your landscaping needs.

Jeff arrived on time for our initial meeting, and listened carefully to our general ideas of what we were looking for.  As we walked through the yard he discussed various options in response to our thoughts and offered refreshing and imaginative ideas of his own.  Jeff gave us a realistic cost estimate at that meeting. Once we settled on the concept and scope of work, Jeff produced a design plan and proposal in short order.  Within a week of the start of the project we decided to add a pondless water feature which had been discussed but not agreed upon previously. Jeff was able to incorporate it into the project with no slip in the schedule. Jeff arrived right on time with his team the first morning of the project, and it quickly became obvious that the whole team was profession in everything they did and quite used to working with one another.  They treated our property with respect, cleaned as they worked, and their methods and finished product were first class.  Jeff said the project would take 2-3 days, and despite inclement water, finished on time. When we had questions or asked for certain fine tuning of the work, Jeff responded promptly and to our satisfaction.  Overall, we are very glad we went with Jeff's design and company for the project, and are delighted with the results.  Everything Jeff did blends in perfectly with, and compliments, our existing deck, yard, and house. Our backyard went from an embarrassment, to something we are proud of and eager to share with our friends and family.  The water feature is delightful, and provides just the touch - sight and sound, we were hoping for.  The project was completed on time, within the agreed upon budget, and we got what we were promised.

AThe Sharper Cut Inc
I've used Sharper Cut to develop the gardens in front of the house, terrace the front garden for a level field for the trees, bushes, plants and water fountain, and build out the back garden to include and expanded patio and fishpond with waterfall. Their work is superior...and helps give the house a more inviting exterior view to family and guests. I'd recommend them for any project great or small...and they can tailor the project for future growth based on your budget! The winter refresh and clean up went exceptionally well...as their work always provides!

Wow!  What a transformation!  When I first met with Jeff, we discussed the issues with the yard and what I was looking for.  He understood immediately and had great recommendations that improved on my thoughts dramatically.  He drew up plans and got them back to me.  I loved everything he proposed!  And the result was even better than the drawing.  I now have a gorgeous, usable back yard that all my friends love to share with me.  The crew were on time, worked really hard, cleaned up after themselves and were great to work with!  I will definitely call on Jeff for all of my future landscaping needs!

AThe Pond Doctor
Mark and his guys were great. It did take a while to get in touch with them initially, but that is because I was calling during a very busy time of year, so if you don't reach them immediately, just keep trying. The guys came on time, did a great job eliminating the leak in my pond and rebuilding a nice looking waterfall. I would definitely hire them again. The B rating on price is only because I am used to hiring someone who used to repair ponds for fun and charged hobbyist prices. Unfortunately, he passed away recently. Mark's prices were right in line with the other professional pond companies, I just had sticker shock because I was not used to hiring a water feature professional.

AHeidelberg Fountains & Ponds
Same-Day Service Saved the Day! Thank goodness for Bjorn Neumann, owner of Heidelberg Fountains and Ponds! The Rotational Ball Output part, a very key part, on my Aquascape pond pump broke the day after I had cleaned it. As such, the pump could no longer send water to the pond filter. I was worried about the impact on my numerous koi before the weekend. I contacted Bjorn this morning and asked if he could work me into his schedule today. He squeezed in this urgent repair and provided same-day service. More importantly, he was familiar with the pump, a good one, and knew the weakness of this particular connection. So, he provided a superior, more durable, replacement part that will allow me easy access to the pond pump for future cleaning. He also checked my waterfall pump’s connection and functioning while he was here. Great service, as always! I will hire him again for pond cleaning and/or repairs. Previous Review (3/6/2019) I highly recommend Heidelberg Fountains and Ponds owned by Bjorn Neumann who worked at Merrifield for 15 years before starting his own small business. I have been using his services for three years after trying many others. Bjorn offers reasonable rates and outstanding customer service. He just finished my pond’s spring cleaning and took good care of my koi and goldfish during the whole process. Most importantly, I always learn something new from him whether it is about my fish, the pond filter, tips on pond care or better aerators. He can be reached by text or phone at (703) 350-6237.

AClassic Stonescaping & Gardens LLC
We both absolutely loved Jeff's conceptual design plan, which came to us in a professional drawing with color and shaded areas, and included pictures of different steps and walkways and dry stacked Fieldstone walls he had done in the past, to give us ideas.  He also had recommended different materials (Techo Bloc pavers and Rocka steps, and Pennsylvania Field Stone), which would affect the cost. The design was gorgeous!   Beauty and color are very important to me and I was set on creating a more feminine feel in the front landscaping to offset the more masculine design of our contemporary house.  My husband had his heart set on dry stacked Pennsylvania flagstone walls.  Jeff listened to both us and incorporated both of our wishes in the design and plant suggestions he presented.  He designed the walkway and beds with graceful curves and created a lovely, curved dry stacked Pennsylvania Fieldstone wall/bench on the walkway against the house.   We both fell in love with the bench idea!  Jeff also designed, for the left yard and the side of the house, stone groupings and interesting plantings, and a graceful stepping stone path and bed for Knock out Roses or flowers of my choice against the house, with other plants/bushes he recommended.  For the back, he deigned a dry stacked Pennsylvania Fieldstone wall at the end of the area under our 50ft deck, to be filled and leveled with dirt and back filled with River Rock. This helped address one of the erosion problems, which the stepping stone path from the side also addressed in coming around to the deck steps.  For the erosion problems in the front, Jeff planned to create a Fieldstone wall around the end of a bed containing a Japanese Maple and Dogwood to be back filled with dirt where it has eroded, exposing roots.  For the overhang water issue he deigned a catch basin with rocks and a buried downspout with pop up drain.  Since this year we had to take down a huge Sugar Maple tree because of borers, we asked him for a re-design to include sodding and a reshaping of the front bed, which now will have full sun so we can do a wider variety of plants and flowers.   Jeff worked very hard with us to come in at our original budgeted amount. However, with the economy still so uncertain and my husband retiring next year, we have since had to greatly reduce our budget and do much less this year.  We wish we could do the full design plan.  Jeff's is our favorite design and the best bid we have obtained from three top landscaping/stonescaping companies.  Plus he is a great guy and really easy to work with.  We would choose him in a heartbeat!

Mike Westwood did an outstanding job on my small pond. He drained it, found existing leaks and repaired them (this required more than one visit), cleaned the pond hose and rearranged stones to make it spray so much better. He make some important recommendations about improving the look and ecco-system of my pond. He also went to a nursery and got stones to put on the bottom which make a great improvement in how the pond looked and functioned. I really appreciated that he took such care in doing everything need to not only return my pond to a functioning level, he went above and beyond to make it look great. He made recommendations of products that I could order on line to keep my pond water looking clear and free of bacteria. I am very pleased with with the results. I plan to continue calling on MetroPonds and Mike Westwood has my highest recommendation.

FCustom Stonescaping LLC
We originally contacted the company to build a waterfall in our backyard. We saw good reviews on Angie's list. One of the owners came to the house to provide an estimate. Suggested that he could provide a much broader service -- removing all of the existing work and replacing it with new patio walls, re-landscaping with new stones and plantings, our existing beds. They work began on time but in very rainy conditions. No accommodations were made because of the wet conditions even though we questioned this. The yard (grass) was severely damaged by the use of heavy equipment and they did little or nothing to repair the damage. We are still struggling to recover from that damage. They caused significant damage to our driveway by insisting on placing a dumster in our driveway instead of on the street. No preparation was made for the dumster and upon removing it we were left with significant driveway damage. Their answer was patchwork repair which remains unsightly. New planting was a significant part of the project. We were told that the plants would be brought in and before they were planted we would review them and discuss and approve. Instead we arrived home to find everything planted. The plants were poorly chosen, positioned and planted. Several have died. The work damaged some of her existing plants including a Japanese maple and redbud. When the waterfall stopped working within 3 weeks of installation it took 10 days to get them to return our phone calls. It took additional days for them go come look at the problem. Subsequently, the waterfall ceased operating properly - they did not respond to our inquiry and we instead retained the services of another more competent company that repaired and rebuilt the waterfall. It turns out that the connection from the pump to the hose had never been properly secured. We also learned that the bed for the pond had been improperly prepared. As the plants began to die we could not get a response even though the contract specified that anything would be replaced within a year. Only when we threatened a poor review did they respond and replaced a few but not all of the plants that were dead or dying. They clearly no little or nothing about plants and we question their qualifications as landscapers. In short, they were eager to take our money and once they had left the property with their last payment showed no inclination or desire to address any of their mistakes and failures. Do not hire these people>

Very well. The workers were all very professional and friendly, and worked very quick. Demolition went smoothly and no debris was left in our yard. We asked for some changes when part of the plan did not turn out the way we thought and they implemented changes quickly and professionally (involved moving a number of large stones). Jeff was the person who worked with us on design, and we got our firepit and water feature to fit in our small yard without taking away too much grass. Only major concern I had is that they put in several small trees, one of the trees died and had to be replaced, and the other is still not very strong. When I took out the tree that died, I found that it had been put in without removing the canvas around the root ball. Same was true for the tree that is still struggling. I have removed the canvas as much as I can, but it is a very large tree and I am unable to simply lift it up and remove the canvas... I think this was simply an oversight, and it should not be considered representative of their work elsewhere in the yard, which was excellent.
