RBS Landscape & Tree Care
Recent Review: Landscaping for my new house was the final step in a very long process. Out of everything I had endured for nearly 2 years, Landscaping proved to be one of the most difficult. A friend/neighbor recommended Robert B Singler – RBS Landscape & Tree Care. He was warned I am VERY picky. The Work Order was signed 9 September 2016 and it was expressly agreed to by both parties the project would be completed with quality plants and materials in a 2 week time period. Additionally, all plants would be guaranteed for a 1 year period. I was offered a discount equal to the Sales Tax if I paid for the entire project in advance. I was not comfortable with that and stated I was more interested in a quality job than a discount. At the end of week 1, I expressed concern regarding Mr. Singler’s ability to execute my job, because it had become clear he did not have the staff, tools or skills. I suggested we sever our relationship. He implored me to continue as his family needed the money and vowed to improve his performance. About week 3, it became necessary for me to pay the sprinkler subcontractor directly for their sprinkler system, because Mr. Singler had used my funds for something other than my job. At the end of week 5 Mr. Singler was notified he had one week to complete the project or he would be replaced. One week later I notified him to come and pick up his tools. He then informed me I couldn’t fire him because he quit and then proceeded with multiple texts berating me. I had to hire another Landscaper to fix all of Mr. Singler’s mess and finish the job. The plants Mr. Singler installed were substandard AND not the size promised in my Work Order. In March 2017, I contacted Mr. Singler to replace most of the plants he had installed, because they did not survive the winter. In response, I received additional texts berating and threatening me.

Recent Review: Afterwards one of the sprinkler pipes in the front yard broke and I had to call out a plumber which cost me over $300. It was in the dead of winter and water was continuously pouring from the pipe into my yard and I was afraid the rest of the pipeline would freeze over and this would be more cost. The plumber had to tap off the line inorder for the water to stop gushing. So, for now I have NO sprinkler system to run for the summer.

Advanced Sprinkler & Landscape Services
Recent Review: Initial work updating the system went well. System was working in the summer when it was updated. In the fall we asked what we needed to do for the system during the winter. Dan, the owner, responded by email informing us that nothing needs to be done. We were concerned about pipes freezing but he said that all our pipes are underground and that it doesn't get cold enough in Dallas to be concerned. In the spring when we ran the system, several of the pipes were cracked. Called him to come out and he charged us both to repair the pipes AND for preventative maintenance so it doesn't happen in the future. As it turns out, a couple areas of pipes are exposed and they froze. We said we weren't comfortable paying both the repairs AND preventative maintenance because we asked him what we should do to prevent this and he said nothing, and all his work and parts are under warranty. So for his warranty to not cover his poor advice/work and then to be told we need to pay both to fix something that could have been prevented and to pay for the repairs which could have been prevented felt unfair to us. We told him that and offered to pay for either the preventative maintenance or the repairs, but not both. He responded by threatening to send us to his collections department for the $184 bill. This after spending several thousand dollars with them the previous year getting the system updated. Further, his repairman did some work which was not pre-authorized. He replaced a rotor which was apparently not working very well and charged us $20 for the $7 part plus whatever portion of the labor for the day went towards installing that. We had only asked to have the pipes repaired. The additional work was done without pre-authorization, even though they have my phone number and I specifically asked to be called if the work wouldn't be under warranty, or if additional work needed to be done. Labor billed at $98 per hour. Which is a fair number, but I don't need to pay someone $98/hour to pop off a rotor and then pop another one back on and get charged triple the retail and probably quadruple the wholesale price for the part. All in all, a very frustrating follow up experience after an initially positive experience.

Recent Review: They were hard to get a hold of at first but once we spoke they were out quickly. The price was very fair and reasonable for what they ended up doing. They were more thorough than the company I had used for the last few years. They were also very time efficient and I definitely will have them back next year.

Recent Review: Incredible.  They were prompt, polite, clean and wasted no time in completing the job.  They left the lawn (had to dig trench), flagstone, etc. pristine.  "Very" reasonable  rate for the multiple jobs.  A RARE FIND.

Dallas Curb Appeal Inc
Recent Review: We were happy that this company didn't force us to pay up front for an estimate. They were kind and professional, and acted like they wanted to win our business. We solicited bids from 2 other companies, and Dallas Curb Appeal was the best of the bunch. They worked quickly and efficiently and tried very hard to work with us to keep the overall cost down. We had a bunch of snow that broke a few limbs in our mature oak tree. They didn't mind trimming the tree up for me while they were on-site after the snow was gone. We spent significantly more than we initially planned, but believe that we received a fair price for all of the work. Our landscape today survives, but isn't flourishing in the dead of winter.

RON S LANDSCAPING
Recent Review: We travel in the summer and he takes care of our yard while we are gone. It is important because the yard needs to be reliably taken care of. The thing that is so important to us is that things are taken care of in our absence. They do good work. More than anything else, and most important, is reliability. They show up, do their job and if it wasn't for their leaf blower we wouldn't even know they were here except for the clean yard. They are really reliable and do quality work. For any reason in the winter if the weather turns bad he will call and ask to put the job off for a day. They also maintain the sprinkler systems.

LIS Landscape Irrigation Service
Recent Review: Home Advisor supplied a list of irrigation companies to fix a water leak in our backyard and to adjust all the sprinkler heads. L.I.S./Jesus Tapia’s secretary called and said he was in the area and would provide a free estimate. Jesus came to our house and we discussed his fees. He wanted $100 to find and fix the leak and, when I said I have another company that will do it for $85 he countered with $75. We agreed and said we’d talk about the sprinkler adjustment when he finished. By good fortune, the pool fill line was on when we went to the backyard and that clearly showed the leak. Jesus dug a hole and saw the broken pipe, fixed it and then we tested the fix. Another leak was found just below the one he fixed. He’d only been here 30 minutes but announced that he would need to charge $100 to fix the leaks. We argued that point and I said I could go for $90 but wasn’t happy. He wanted $100 so I said if I gave him the $100 that would be the end of job for him so he agreed to $90. Once the fix was made, we tested the sprinkler system and found several problems. I asked how much to fix the whole thing and he said $200. I asked how much time it would take and got the response more than 2, probably 2 and frac12; hours. I agreed and he started repairs. In an hour, he was pretty much done but left a few problems that I pointed out. He fixed them and I gave him a check for $290. He complained asking “where did you get that number?” I replied “from you” but it was clear he wanted more money and tried to give me the check back. I said “that was our agreement” and he complained that he need $85 per hour and money for parts. He was here 2 hours (he claims 2 hours and 13 minutes) but that would be $170 on top of the $90. He stormed off in a huff and I went into the house. I went to his truck and offered him $20 for the parts – a few couples and some pipe – but he refused, gave me a receipt and left. The pipe he used was cheap and the fix was clumsy so I’m sure another winter like the last will require his repairs to be done again.

They arrived on schedule as usual and quickly identified which heads were not performing - including 3 or 4 that had been broken by the lawn service. They also quickly identified the source of the leak I had identified last Winter.

AMia's Quick Service...
The Tech came out and we found that I had been running the irrigation for the last few months with one sprinkler not popping up which caused the erosion on the lawn. He replaced 3 Sprinklers (had to add extensions because of the thickness of the grass), adjusted a few more, and recommended that I level the lawn in the winter time when the lawn is dormant (Great Advice!)

They did a good job but it took a while for them to respond and to ultimately come out. They did a good job and checked all of the sprinkler heads, replacing one. Quality was good, price was a little high, I thought.

CGreenTex Landscaping...
GreenTex had been a reliable provider up until last year. I never had trouble with communications, quality of service, and customer service. Now, I am looking for a new landscaping care company. The billing has slowly slipped in accuracy, and when I call to discuss, the office personnel is borderline rude. I've asked for heads up on non-regular services, like mulching or fertilization and they fail miserably at contacting me in a timely manner. Once they even emailed me that the crew was coming, while the crew was working on my yard. The irrigation "specialist" they have has always missed his appointments and then lied about missing them saying we were not home. This has happened since year 1, so I am talking about at least 5 instances where this person has flat out lied about showing up and us not being home. Since we own security cameras, we can back our claims that this person did not, in fact, showed up for his appointment. I opted out completely from using GreenTex for irrigation system maintenance unless they have a different "specialist" on board. During the summer, they have subcontracted mowing crews, so the quality of mowing has been inconsistent. This is to say that it sometimes is borderline bad, where they leave tall grass in lines, in between their passes with the lawnmower. The scheduling is consistent though, if they say they're coming, they do show up (other than their sprinkler technician). That is why I say the punctuality is good.

Victoria is very professional unfortunately cannot speak to services provided. Had a bit of trouble scheduling, work was performed over the winter. First time sprinklers were used in Spring there was an issue of no water being delivered to zones. Have asked for a copy of the work order to verify what work performed and what guarantee of services is provided, have not received a copy of the work order and promise of a tech to visit and remedy the issues has not occurred after three weeks of communication.
