I ordered 10 yards of organic topsoil, which, according to the Saunder's Web site, is supposed to be a 50/50 mix of top soil and compost. When I ordered the soil, I requested that the dirt be dumped on my driveway, and said I would put a tarp on the driveway to indicate where I wanted the soil dumped. I was told the driver would call before delivering the soil. The day the soil was to be delivered I didn't get phone call, so when I arrived at home and saw the empty tarp on the driveway I wasn't surprised. But then I was very surprised, and angry, to see the dirt had been dumped in the middle of my front lawn. I spent an entire day using a wheelbarrow to move the soil from where it was dumped to where I wanted it - twice as much time as it would have taken had they delivered it where I requested. And I had to reseed the large area of the front lawn that was ruined by the pile of dirt. I called Saunders to ask why the dirt hadn't been dumped where I requested. Kathy, the woman who took my order in the first place, said she needed to check on that and would get back to me. I never heard from her again. Update: I did hear from Saunders several months after posting my review on Angie's List - one of their employees showed up unannounced and knocked on my door at 6:15 a.m. as I was getting ready for work. I disagree with Saunders' response that I "was able to see the only possible location to place the topsoil" was on my front lawn. First, I chose Saunders to deliver the topsoil because I had them deliver the gravel for my driveway and their dump truck was able to back down the driveway and dump it where I wanted. The fact that they used a subcontractor (the Saunders guy called it a "sister company") to fulfill my order without letting me know in advance is dissapointing. Further, if they had called (as promised) and let me know the truck that was delivering the dirt couldn't back down the driveway, I would have cancelled the order, rather than have them ruin my lawn. At the very least, moving the tarp to where the dirt was going to be dumped to minimize the damage to my lawn seems like something a company that has even a little respect for its customers' wishes would have done. I'm still angry about my experience with Saunders and would never use them nor recommend them again.
