This was a first time use of Factor Appliance. The technician showed up in an unmarked vehicle, in plain street clothes (untucked shirt and jeans) and no ID. The only thing that showed the name of the firm was a 5x8 Work Order paper in his hand; which he didn't present - I was looking for something before opening the door to a stranger. He pulled out the fridge to get to the back panel and when he opened the tool box to get a screwdriver, the toolbox was disorganized and only had a few tools; I would have expected a professional repair technician to have an organized, stocked toolbox. He unconnected the water line to check it. When he went to put it back in, he had a little trouble so had to adjust. That left water dripping on the floor which he didn't even try to wipe up, so I did. He thought he knew what part was needed. Then he went to the window, pulled out his smartphone and was looking at something; small kitchen so I could see that it was a diagram of parts and he was paging through it. He said parts had to be ordered and could be difficult to get; he had the exact amount the part would cost but then said install would be "around $150". That was the tipping point. In this day, a professional service company showing up at customer's homes should be clearly identifiable as a representative of the company, presentable and prepared with the details. The technician, while very nice, was none of these things. That is an issue on how Factor Appliance runs the company, not the technician. We paid the $80 initial service fee and consider this a lesson learned. We will not use them again and would not recommend them. UPDATE AS OF 10/14/2016 In response to Mr. Loughlin’s comments – Each interactionwas not “fraught with suspicion”. As acompany with which we had not done prior business, inquiring as to backgroundchecks for technicians is part of due diligence. And yes, I did call the morning of theservice, scheduled at 8am, inquiring about the 90 minute arrival time. I did not state that I felt like it shouldn’tapply to the first call; I stated that it wasn’t clear when the appointment wasmade that this applied from the start of the day. Also, I did not include that in this reviewbecause I took that as a misunderstanding and not a reflection of FactorAppliance. My use of the term ‘streetclothes’ is accurate. Your technicianarrived in jeans and a blue & red striped polo shirt which had no logo oridentification of your company. Youdon’t specify what ‘work shirt’ is, but I would expect something other than astriped polo with no logo. And there wasno logo on the white van. The tippingpoint was not the cost of the item; as indicated in my review, the cost of thatpart was provided. And your technician did state that shipping would be on topof that but stated he couldn’t give me a price because he didn’t know where itwould come from. The issue was the estimation of the amount of the install. The only way I can make a decision about whetherto proceed is when I’m provided all the details from the technician which didnot happen. And if the technician was ona smart phone with access as you indicate, then I would expect him to provide aconcrete dollar amount for shipping and install. I think it’s interesting that you comment thatthe amount of the water on the floor was ‘minimal’ and ‘would obviously have beendried up’ when you have no first-hand knowledge. The amount of water on the floor was morethan minimal and it’s a cork floor so you don’t leave water on it. Nothing was ‘brushed aside’. Points in this review are statement of fact.

Mr. Peaco did an excellent job in responding to us immediately after one phone call and was very flexible since my husband and I both work.  He came in the evening and looked at our fridge and a new computer  master board was needed and gave us a quote. We approved and it was then ordered.  Mr. Peaco had to go through he manufacturer and though he had problems with them getting it ordered he kept us abreast of the situaion every step of the way. He came over after work and inserted the board and fixed our fridge.  Mr.. Peaco was excellent and accomadating and handled everything in a timely and professional manner.  I love working with local businesses...They seem to take pride in what they do!  I would totally recommend him and will use him in the future for any appliance issue. Response was immediate and we had everything scheduled and parts ordered within an hour or two. Technician (James) was polite, professional, knowledgeable and got the job done quickly and accurately. Everything works now, just as expected. Initially, service tech was prompt for onsite evaluation of problem and was friendly and professional. Verified that my evaporator coils were iced up and indicated that I would need to unplug fridge for 2-3 days and then plug in and see if it worked after another 24 hrs. If not, he indicated that the most likely issue was that the fan motor was damaged and possibly the motherboard for the internal computer might need replaced. I payed reasonable fee for onsite visit (approx $65).      After defrosting and turning fridge on again - it was still not working. I called early on Friday and asked that they order the motor and schedule a repair appt for early the next week as I was going out of town and needed to ensure a working fridge. This is when service deteriorated.      Between the following Monday and Thursday, I made multiple calls to the company to see if the part was ordered, and when it would arrive, and when we could schedule service. I was told several times that the part wasn't able to be delivered, they weren't sure when it would come in, and once they also confused me with another client. Twice they said they couldn't get the information from the part distributor until the end of the day and they would call me back and then they didn't. Finally I indicated that I would need to go with another company who could address my repair issue in a timely manner. Two days later I received a voicemail saying that they had finally gotten the part that I needed... (I had already gone with another company).

What they service and the locations they will or will not go should be noted on their listing. I have wasted over an hour looking for someone to service my ice maker.

After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to use District Appliance Repair.  After speaking to the owner Osman Abu on the phone, I decided to the give them a chance and was delighted I did.  I would not hesitate to recommend this firm.  The technician got rid of the ice, cleaned out the drain and checked the parts but did not immediately find a problematic part.  He suggested that I wait for a week and see if the temperature held steady.  He agreed to look at it again when the part was installed for the cooktop and ordered a thermostat as well just in case. I would have been happy to replace multiple parts in my problematic Samsung refrigerator but after coming out and looking at it again the technician felt that the clogged drain was the issue and not a defective part.   Since he was out to work on the cooktop anyway, I was not even charged for checking out the refrigerator again.  I saved money thanks to the honest, capable work done by District Appliance Repair.  I will not hesitate to use them again.  They also did a nice job on the cooktop

The Samsung refrigerator that I purchased almost 3 years ago (never will I buy one with the ice maker up top in the refrigerator section) had to be repaired again. Since they have detailed information on the previous fixes they did not waste my time. They called to tell me the part needed to be ordered and when it arrived they'd call to schedule an appt. They ordered the part, the part arrived, they called to schedule a time, we agreed on a time/date, they came in on time and fixed it. Couldn't ask for more (well maybe a replacement fridge but that's another conversation).

Recent Review: I called Mr. MIlls on a Thursday morning and he offered to come by the same day.  When I requested the following morning instead, he arrived punctually at a perfect time for me.  He did tell me on the phone that he may not have immediate access to Samsung parts, and if certain parts were necessary he would have to order them and that it could be a few days before they arrived.  I told him that, as the refrigerator was working, it was not an emergency and that would not be a problem. As it turned out, he did not need to order any parts.  He diagnosed and fixed my problem in a very short period of time.  He removed the ice from the defrost drain line and installed a heat shunt to keep the defrost drain from icing up again.  He showed me what he was doing and explained to me how to deal with it if it happens again.  The heat shunt that came on the refrigerator  was too short to accomplish its mission.  In my opinion, a design flaw on an otherwise great refrigerator.  Mr. Mills was courteous, personable, professional, and generous in sharing his knowledge with me.  I appreciate a small businessman with many years of experience and am pleased with my first Angie's List experience.
