Recent Review: I couldn't be more pleased with Michelle and the help she provided me and my puppy. Michelle came highly recommended to me by two coworkers who used her in the past. Michelle helped me with six weeks of personal training for my 8 week old (8 weeks at the start) puppy to learn puppy basics. She traveled to my house, educated me and then showed me how to teach my pup. It was a rewarding experience. Once I master the puppy training I have learned, I look forward to working with Michelle again on intermediate dog training! Thanks, Michelle!!

Recent Review: I took my 12 week old lab puppy for training with Veronica. Before we even started the training I had alot of questions about puppy managment and she was always available to answer my questions by phone, even before we met. Veronica taught me how to manage my puppy in the house, with my kids as well as when we were out. She gave me lots of ideas on places to take my puppy for socializing as well as websites for great puppy gear. In the 5 sessions I spent with Veroica I was able to teach my puppy sit, down, off, wait, stay, how to walk nicley on the leash as well as the beginnings of some advanced training. Probably the most important thing we were able to train our puppy was to come when called which allows him to be off leash on our property.Veronica was always really positive and ready to answer any question. I brought my boys with me to the training sessions, Veronica was super nice to them and taught them how to train our puppy. Veronica has several dogs of her own and she had my puppy interact with her dogs to help my puppy's socialization. I plan to bring my puppy back for follow up sessions as he matures.

Recent Review: Bridget is so easy to work with and came highly recommended from a lot of local veterinarians and pet stores. Her training methods are positive reinforcement based, which is what we were looking for. Our Vizsla is sensitive so harsh training methods would totally not work!

Recent Review: Anne is excellent. When she first came to the door, my puppy was exuberantly jumping, and I couldn't control him. She had him calm and attentive in seconds. It was amazing. A real dog whisperer. Anne taught both the puppy and me. After 7 sessions he is still a happy, exuberant dog, but he will obey me. The training is all positive reinforcement.

Recent Review: We signed up for Puppy Manners class for our (then) 4 month old pup. We picked Spot On based on their training philosophy stated on the website. Ashley was our teacher. We were very happy with both the class and the teacher. Our puppy loved going to class! We also went to a couple of their free puppy play sessions and enjoyed them as well. Ashley and other teachers we've met there are knowedgable, professional and clearly love what they do. We're looking forward to Adolescent Manners class and a couple of workshops coming up soon.

Recent Review: We highly recommend Melissa to any new dog owner! We were having some real issues with our puppy -- Melissa gave us the confidence and the tools to get ahold of the situation and now have a wonderful puppy, who, despite the occassional tandtrums is a joy.Her patience with us and natural ability to take immediate control of our puppy are outstanding! We are so happy with Melissa that we have already signed up for obedience training when our puppy gets a bit older.

Recent Review: All About Dogs is amazing. We took our 12-week old puppy to the Puppy Socialization class hosted at a vet clinic in Annandale in November, and then started training with them in Levels training in January. Even though we've only been training for a few months, our puppy has made incredible progress and is an even better pet than we could have hoped. AAD trainers encourage the use of positive, reward-based methods, and it has worked exceptionally well for our puppy. The first two levels were great for teaching our puppy critical commands (his name, come, sit, down, loose leash walking, stay), and our experience in the third level has been a great combination of fun and work. If you have a puppy, I would highly encourage you to seek out the puppy socialization classes -- the puppies spend a lot of time in play, and you will get a lot of incredibly valuable advice in a short period of time. The trainers have given us great advice for questions or problems that have arisen at home, and we trust them completely. We intend to continue working with AAD for a very long time.

Recent Review: I train my dogs to compete in performance events, but I like to get my new puppies into a good kindergarten to get them socialized and to practice the basics with some distractions. I have loved our experience @ Your Dog's Friend! The training methods they use are positive and sound, based on our current scientific understanding of how dogs learn. We took classes from Sarah, and she was upbeat, helpful, and encouraging. I saw all of the puppies learn and flourish while we were there. And we had a lot of fun! My little puppy wanted to pull me to the front door for each class, she loved it so much (but no, I didn't let her pull on the leash...she had to learn patience!). I especially appreciate that you can start in a puppy kindergarten as soon as there is an opening. We had our puppy for 3 days and were able to get into a class. It was great to get her started learning so soon. And the supervised puppy play time is so great for puppies to learn good play manners in a safe environment. Added bonus: I know that our tuition is helping other dogs who are being fostered/rescued.

Recent Review: After speaking to Brian on the phone, I was very skeptical about what he could teach me in a couple of hours. When Brian entered through the front door I felt his calming nature, as did my 3-month-old puppy Skylar. He taught us that Skylar was acting up frequently because he needed more structure and he was really confused about where he belonged in our house. He also explained that Skylar needed more exercise on a daily basis, as he had a lot of built up energy. After spending a few hours with Brian, I felt more confident that I could help my puppy be more comfortable and happy in our home. Brian also called a few days later to see how things were going with Skylar, and he gave me some more advice on the phone. Overall, my puppy is more calm for most of the day and is considerably more obedient, as well! I would highly recommend Brian and her services!

Anne Davis and her co-trainers do an excellent job in providing classes for the CCI puppies.  The lessons are designed to help the puppies develop the skills they will need. The trainers are also very helpful in fielding questions from puppy raisers on how to work with their dogs outside of class.

We started 6 sessions of private puppy training for mini goldendoodle with Anne when Theo was 9 weeks old and then picked up some additional group training to address puppy manners and to introduce socialization/public settings. The training could not have gone better! Theo is proficient at multiple commands, and the training Anne and Kim have provided has done wonders for Theo's self-control and listening skills. At just 4 1/2 months, Theo is a dream puppy. Many thanks to Anne and Rudy's Friends in establishing such a strong foundation for Theo. We are definitely planning to do additional classes and training.

APawsome Pups Dog Training
A dog trainer in my neighborhood saw that we had a puppy and suggested taking him to Pawsome Pups for Puppy Kindergarten. I contacted Bridget via email and she was extremely responsive. Our puppy had so much fun socializing with other pups. Bridget was great about explaining the dog’s different behaviors so that we could learn to recognize it for ourselves. Our puppy LOVED going to class so much we did the program twice! We feel it’s important to put in the work now, so we can have a loving, healthy, and fun life long relationship. It’s so cool to watch and learn from Bridget. It turns out that it’s us humans that need most of the training. You can tell that she loves animals and wants to see them be their best possible selves. We will DEFINITELY continue taking classes from Pawsome Pups!

ADog Tranquility
We had just picked up our rescue puppy and he was very shy and needed socialization and training. Colleen, the owner, trainer was fantastic. The first class our puppy, Beamer mainly watched has he was so scared; by the next class Colleen had him playing with the other puppies and by the the last class(6) he passed his training and loved playing with the other puppies. We are now using her to get Beamer adjusted to small children as he has never been around them and is not comfortable with them. She is the best trainer I have ever worked with. I HIGHLY recommend her.

AK-9 DIVINE
Excellent - I heard great things about the boarding/training program from a neighbor and was happy with our experience. It was easy to schedule drop-off times and the staff listened to our concerns about our puppy's behavior and what we'd like them to focus on during the boarding period. We even got email updates and photos when we were away. We were happy to notice some behavior changes and appreciated the detailed guidance from the staff on how to continue reinforcing good behavior. Will definitely use again!
