Recent Review: The mechanic did a thorough inspection and found that a mouse had built a nest in the outdoor unit and chewed through one of the wires and shorted out a capacitor.  So he cleaned all the nest material and reinstalled a capacitor and also found the refrigerant was low.

Recent Review: From my initial contact to schedule the appointment, I've had a pleasant experience with Snell Heating and Air Conditioning. The technician, Rick, was punctual, arriving with a smile during the appointed time frame. He was extremely helpful in answering questions, providing advice, and describing any concerns with my AC unit. By the time the inspection was complete, I definitely felt as I had learned a lot, and not just received assurance that my AC was in good working order. In addition to the inspection, I wanted to replace my old thermostat with a new Nest thermostat. The technician had never installed one of these before, but after reviewing the information, was more than willing to do so. He had it installed within an efficient time frame, and then I connected it to my wireless network, and we discovered the various settings. Again, it was a very informative process, this time for both of us. The entire service was performed with a smile and resulted in exactly what I had wanted. I look forward to learning more this fall when my furnace is inspected under their maintenance plan.

AFrosty's Heating & Cooling Inc...
I had a question about my new Nest Thermostat and companies were going to charge me hundreds of dollars to come out to my house to address it. Larry called me and spent an hour with me on the phone working through the issues and there was no need to come out at all. He was so kind, generous, and knowledgeable. Would recommend Frosty's to anyone they are amazing.

ASmart Services...
The HVAC company I've used for years spent 3 hours attempting to install my Nest before telling me that it had to be defective and charging me $165. They put the old one back on neglecting to wire it correctly - and I awoke to 49 degrees the next morning. They did come back out and fixed it, so I did have heat that day. My second try was a friend - who gave it his best shot with the on-line chat help for 2 hours. The Nest folks finally suggested using one of their professionals. I found Smart Services on their site and called them. Nate was here earlier than the appointed time with his apprentice and solved the issue of an improperly wired reversing valve. He and his helper were polite, professional, and finished the job in about an hour! I'm DELIGHTED with their work - and they will definitely be my first call the next time I need HVAC or electrical work! Five Stars all the way!!

It went well. He was punctual and helpful. He did talk down about the nest, and I installed it originally myself. He kinda blamed nest but turned out it was the heat pump (reversing valve failed, shortly after it sprung a refrigerant leak). But seriously, very professional, very timely and friendly, good prices, prompt response on issues, just know that he doesn't like the nest lol! Ended up buying a variable speed heat pump (compressor, condenser fan and AHU all variable) that needs its own special thermostat anyway so I gave the nest to a friend.

In an attempt to swap out my old thermostat to a new thermostat (Nest), I blew the fuse inside the heat pump. Mannix came out the same day I called and within an hour fixed, the fuse and then installed the new Nest thermostat with no further issues. Excellent, professional work that was performed quickly.

AAir Benders...
I called a few companies on angieslist to compare installation rates for our Nest thermostat.  The rates varied wildly and AirBenders was clearly the most reasonable at $89.00.  I was contacted by the owner, David, who personally came out to install our new thermostat.  David called and gave a heads up on when he would be arriving and was very personable.  It was apparent that he had installed many Nest thermostats before, so I was glad to have someone with extensive experience installing mine. The installation was extremely smooth and quick.  The only issue that we came across was the temperature reading according to the Nest did not match the temperature reading according to David's professional thermometer.  He indicated that he ran into this issue with other Nests that he had installed.  He even spent time trying to troubleshoot and even called the Nest support line to see if they could assist.  Since the wait time was over an our, David was unable to stay that long, so he provided me with the number and suggested that I called in myself to describe the issue. I finally got through to Nest support who indicated that the Nest probably just needed time to adjust to its current location and that the temperature reading my differ by 1-2 degrees.  I went to Home Depot and purchased a thermometer that had positive reviews on-line and placed it in close proximity to the Nest.  After a few hours, the temperature reading on the Nest and the external thermometer was spot on!  Turns out, it did need some time to "calibrate" to its new environment and that the temperature reading upon installation was off. David was very curious to learn the outcome of my situation and wanted me to let him know my results after speaking to Nest support.  He asked that I shoot him a call or text on his cell to let him know what happened. Overall, I was very pleased with the installation experience and the extra assistance that David provided when the temperature reading was wildly off at first.  This was not his issue to resolve, but I appreciated the fact that he still stuck around to help as much as possible before he had to leave.

Service was fine. $276??? With a service contract? To replace an existing thermostat? I signed up for their annual contract after having them install my HVAC system through Costco. That was last year. Yesterday the system stopped working and they said it was the Nest thermostat. I figured fine, it's under warranty. The thermostat is. So I didn't pay anything for that. But then they charged $276 labor to replace the existing thermostat. That's ridiculous. And that's with having the service contract! I am dropping them after this service contract expires.
