AHANN & HANN INC
ee hired hann and hann for to perform lead abatement (sanded doors to make sure they fit properly, and performed lead abatement on all lead containing surfaces). The crew that came out was very professional and seemed to do a very through job of ensuring all surfaces were adequately covered during the work. We also hired them as they were lead certified by EPA and Maryland. I think they were very resonantly priced and we are happy with the work they did and would hire again. I will say that they could have a better job communicating with us the time/scheduling of the job. Overall though we were quite pleased and would hire again.

It took some time  to nail down an appointment. The technician was late by 30 minutes or so. But when he arrived he performed the work methodically. He told me the job is going to take two hours but in the end it took about three hours. he worked slowly but carefully, taking notes drawing diagrams along the way. He told me he would try to get the report back to me the next day. But it took him three business days to get it to me.  But he delivered it to my office personally. The report is pretty formal with detailed technical data and scope of abatement suggested. So overall I don't have any complaints.

We have been working with Pete to measure the lead levels in our house. The abatement process has been very complicated which is why we have asked him to come several times to inspect after our other contractors cleaned. He is easily available by phone, nice, and prompt. Both he and Sheila, in his office, are lovely. I like them both and would recommend them as honest people to work with.

We hired ACIS to some mold and asbestos testing at my parents home. They were very knowledgeable and responsive. Besides doing the testing they also did the abatement. They were very neat and tidy. They left the house very clean and the report they submitted to us had great information of the findings and the results. I will use them again for the other homes we own.

AHousing Evaluations Plus
We were forced to deal with a lead contamination issue in our yard in August after a painting contractor failed to put down drop cloths as promised to catch lead paint chips and dust while they were preparing some exterior surfaces on our home for painting. The crew went on to disperse the lead dust throughout our yard with leaf blowers. We hired a lead testing company and found out that the areas covered with the dust were above the legal limit for lead. The testing company recommended we hire a licensed contractor to remove & replace the topsoil in the areas with the highest contamination levels. We had a licensed risk assessor draw up a scope of work to use when soliciting bids from contractors. We found HEP on a list of contractors on the DC Department of the Environment website. MrJabali-Nash was very responsive and came to out home on short notice to inspect the site and give us an estimate based on the scope of work. They promptly came back with a reasonable estimate, in contrast to some other big-name abatement firms who either did not return our calls or who proposed doing much more involved and expensive procedures (one firm, for example, would have brought in a back hoe to dig up all of our beds and eliminate all of our plantings; they indicated the clean-up price would have started with a $6000-$8000 fee to dispose of the dumpster used to collect the soil removed). Given the relatively small volume of soil we needed to replace, HEP did the work by hand and spared some of our more established plantings. They used the type of soil and mulch we specified and delivered the materials the day before the job (on a Sunday) to be able to complete the work promptly the following day. The crew was courteous and left the yard looking great.

They told me initially that there was lead based paint in the house. When they sent the written report it didn't match what they originally had stated. This report said there wasn't lead paint on the walls. We removed walls removed and hired other specialists to fix this issue.  The discrepancy costed us quite of bit of money, and the owner blamed us which was frustrating.

AJenkins Environmental Inc
JEI was recommended to us by a lead testing firm, Capital Beltway Environmental, that performed lead soil samples and wipe samples on our porches after a painting contractor failed to take promised precautions to limit the spread of lead paint chips and dust when prepping exterior surfaces of our home for painting. The painters proceeded to clean the site using leaf blowers, dispersing lead-contaminated dust around our yard. We hired JEI do a risk assessment after Capital Beltway recommended we use an abatement contractor to clean the most heavily contaminated areas in our yard, and the abatement contractors we spoke to indicated they would only submit estimates if they had a scope of work prepared by a licensed risk assessor. JEI was quite responsive when called, and performed the testing on fairly short notice. CEO Larry Jenkins was very knowledgeable and offered lots of advice on how to clean up areas of the yard that we were able to do ourselves. We did not do any shopping around in this instance since we were trying to get the yard cleaned up as quickly as possible, but JEI's fees seemed reasonable given the technical nature of the work and the quick response time.

I called David to ask about lead paint & abatement services.  I explained the situation of our home, and while David recommended we go another route, he still took time out of his day to really understand my concerns and our situation, and made some very helpful recommendations for easy ways to keep our house clean & safe for our kids.   I recommend David to anyone who's looking for lead testing services.  David is the first person you should call.

AJohn Krause Construction
7/29/2015 I needed a company certified to do removal of the front door of my house due to lead contamination. I contacted John Krause Construction company and they were very fast to respond to my request. John came out the very next day and came up with an estimate that day. Jen Contacted me about a day and time that would be convenient for me for the door to be installed. Paul and his crew came exactly when Jen said they would and the door, trim ect. were installed and it was like magic-old door was gone and new door in place. They cleaned up meticulously and it looked like they had never even been there. I would highly recommend John Krause for any type of service they perform-a VERY professional company!

AFireplaces & Stoves MD
The whole project was much more extensive than I thought it would be. House is rental property and had not had a lot of maintenance work in recent years. There was a lot to do to bring it up to speed for Lead Paint Abatement inspection. Also- previous tenant had been very negligent in caring for cats, which had been left in the basement, resulting in a stubborn odor problem there. Addressing that issue was a lot more complicated that we had initially thought, because we had not realized the extent of the damage. Repairs to kitchen faucet and garbage disposal were done in less than a day. Contractor/owner of Sydney Contracting is Carl Weisheit. I found him extremely reliable and courteous and very willing to explain all procedures and details of the contract to me. He was very considerate of the current tenants and went out of his way not to convenience them but was very mindful of not exposing them to any lead paint dust during the process. Mr. Weisheit did everything he said he would do. The Lead Paint Inspector described his work as "very careful and meticulous."

ACapital Beltway Environmental LLC
Capital Beltway Environmental was extremely helpful and responsive when we called on short notice to have lead testing performed on our front & back porches and in our yard. Their industrial hygenist was very helpful and provided useful advice on how to correct the contamination we found. They also recommended a risk assessor to perform a more detailed, whole-house assessment testing for the presence of lead paint, which the abatement contractors we spoke to indicated was a prerequisite to working up an estimate for the clean-up work. Beyond their testing services, CBE provided us with a great deal of good advice and support during a very stressful period in which we did not have a firm idea how expensive or extensive the clean-up efforts would ultimately be. We would recommend them to anyone who believes they are facing a lead contamination problem in or around their home.

ACertaPro Painters® Frederick LLC
The owner Trevor visited with my wife to understand the scope of the job, and was very friendly. He got a quote back to us quickly as well. The team showed up on time, lead by their foreman Keith, who was great. Very friendly and conscientious, and knew what he was talking about. The first thing they did was cover the inside windows with plastic. They quickly moved to covering the ground outside with heavy plastic, and built a barrier to keep lead chips from falling into our neighbor's yard. They wore their containment suits before scraping, and cleaned up properly at the end of the day. I actually came home to a clean, non-contaminated backyard--which was amazing to me. They performed masonry repairs next, and when the damp weather did not allow for fast enough drying time, they just moved onto a different part of the job (front of the house), so that the repairs could properly dry. They got right to it, and kept us aware of anything odd that popped up. We did have some rotting wood that needed to be repaired on the front of our house, which we and they both knew was a possible issue going into the job based on Trevor's initial evaluation. They offered us a fair price on that repair. The guys showed up punctual every day, let us know if there were any weather issues they were contending with and what the plan of attack was, and cleaned up--spotless--at the end of each day. I can;t tell you how rare that is for contractors of any sort in my experience! Overall, we were very pleased. Communication was great, which is such a big thing in my book, but most importantly, at the end of the day, I knew the lead paint on the outside of our home had been handled properly and safely. CertaPro was the third contractor I've worked with on lead issues so far, and they are the only ones who handled it correctly (I am pretty knowledgeable on the subject at this point). What a relief to deal with a company that knows what they're doing. Hire these guys if you need the job done right?especially if you you are dealing with lead issues.

Acgm home improvement contractors
My lead inspector recommended CGM. They were worlds cheaper than the other lead remediation specialists I found. I realize that the EPA requires all contractors to follow lead-safe practices, but I wanted someone who would do it right. Charlie and one helper arrived on time and did the work quickly using all of the lead-safe practices that my research tells me the EPA requires. I breathed easier when they completed that, so I could let my other trades move forward without fearing they would disturb any lead. For what it's worth, I have their phone number as (717) 499-4204. If that weren't the last lead to remediate in my house, I would have hired them again. I've recommended them to friends.

I called David to set up an appointment for an inspection of our condo and he could not have been more helpful!  We have a somewhat unique situation so he suggested we go another route, but he still spent 20 minute on the phone with me listening to my concerns, answering questions, calming me down and giving me advice (even though he knew we were not going to use his service.)  He was honest, knowledgable, friendly and gave me a bunch of ideas of how to easily and more affordably deal with our situation.  I appreciate so much that he took the time to talk to me and recommend anyone in the market for lead testing and removal start by giving him a call.

ALead Inspections Of Montgomery County LLC
I called several local companies licensed in the state to do this inspection and their pricing and responsiveness was the best of the three I called. The inspection took place 2 days later, also better than the others. I opted for the fancier testing that would provide a permanent pass on the property. It was done quickly. There was just one location on the house that showed the presence of lead on a large panel over the doorway. My buddy and I removed that woodwork, bought a brand new sheet of Panel Board and installed it. So the property passed the re-inspection the very next day, I got all the required paperwork immediately to be filed with the state. The whole thing was quick, painless, and she was very efficient and professional. I definitely would use her again.

AHomeTrust Inspections
I called George based on the great reviews on Angie's list since I was desperate for a lead test. I'm in the process of buying a home that was built in 1947 and it has original doors & windows. I'm a mother of a two year old & I'm concerned that there is a strong likelihood of lead with this house. After speaking with George for over over 20 minutes. He explained everything about how lead testing is done & the different types of methods in detecting it. He also talked about what to do if it's found and possible costs related with each method. He was extremely knowledgeable & patient with me. After explaining all of this information to me I then advised that I only needed him for the lead test and that I had already hired another inspector. He then advised that he would provide me with the lead test swabs that he already purchased for free. He even offered to leave them in his mailbox if I agreed to come get them. I was away visiting family in Massachusetts and asked my husband to go pick them up after work. My husband went by that evening and didn't find any swabs in his box. He then called me asking what he should do since it was 10:00 pm and I told him to just go home. I planned on calling George in the a.m. once I was up. To my surprise there was a voicemail waiting for me once I had woken up. It was George apologizing. He advised that he had asked his wife to leave them in the box and she had forgotten to do so. He then informed that he would leave them in the box for my husband to come back & get. I called my husband & told him to go get the swabs right away. He drove all the way out to Vienna & there were the swabs. George had no reason not once but twice to help me but he did! He saved me over $450 in lead testing. He also armed me with all the information I needed in order to conduct the test, understand the different methods of testing, and he advised me of the possible outcomes to expect from the seller when it comes to the removal of lead if it was found. I'm extremely floored by his generosity & definitely believe him to be an upstanding contractor who knows his stuff. I'm looking forward to working with George in the future should the opportunity present itself. To anyone wondering whether they should hire him/not. My recommendation would be yes. Thank you again George for your time & generosity.

A5th Gen Group
The crew were unmatched in their performance and professionalism  He did have a few different crews come in that worked for him.  All were professional in work, dress and with their interactions with my family.  They were prepared every day and performed their job with the proper tools and we were impressed in how they worked hard not to interrupt our family life.  The job was completed on time and all documents were presented for each phase of the project in a timely manner.   Christian is not only a carpenter, but he is also an interior designer, home inspector, certified in lead removal, solar certified and an artist.  Instead of going to a Design Building Firm as we originally planned, we had Christian design our projects for us.  From the cabinet finishes, to the counter tops and the LED under cabinet lighting.  We are very happy with all the appliances that he picked out.  He was personally involved in the work from beginning to end.  We asked him  many questions and he always took the time to give us an answer. Everything was coordinated properly, all the different aspects of the job went smoothly and his team sent the material and each team worked one behind the other.  We never had material sitting here wondering where the workers are and we never had the crew here waiting on material to be delivered. Christian and his team truly know what they are doing when it comes to home renovations.  His honesty and family owned company was the deciding factor for using them from the start.  Our first meeting with Christian was informative and relaxing.  He listened to our ideas and answered all our question.  He was honest perhaps too honest in going over our ideas.  He gave us excellent suggestions to save us money where things were not needed.  He also gave us many suggestions for the resale of our home in the future. We did have a budget in mind, which from the start he told us was unrealistic.  This sent us to look for other contractors, but came back ultimately, since we felt he was the perfect fit for us.  He pointed out ,in detail, what was wrong with our  budget. Christian does have a passion for the work he does and you can see this in his work and his team's work and  language.  We had a problem with our floors.  A previous contractor had done some work and when we returned home we were shocked.  It looked terrible.  Christian fixed this problem and put all new beautiful floors in throughout the house.  Jess and Kaleb are the people to speak to in his office.  They are both pleasant and professional.  Hector is the crew leader and he gives attention to every detail and has design experience.  Matt(Christian's brother) was also a great help in making this project run smoothly and be completed when promised   Christian's price was not the lowest and it was not the highest quote we received.  With quality of work we received we feel that a higher price could not have out performed the work we received.  Our neighbor's still can not believe our home.  Sometimes you get more than you pay for.   This is a whole new house, right down to the new deck  with a retractable awning .   5th Gen Group did this for us.  I will be recommending 5th Gen Group to all my friends and neighbors.
