AMETRO INSULATION, LLC.
Metro Insulation is an excellent company. Everything went very well starting with the initial estimate. The team completed the rather complicated work in one day. Some of the insulation was blown in and a reflective insulation covered everything. A small area behind a bureau was overlooked when the reflective insulation was installed. After a phone contact, the extra insulation was delivered.

Max Insulation quoted a price to blow in energy-saving cellulose R40 roof insulation and blow in foam sound-muffling insulation along a basement rowhouse wall in Capitol Hill. Both items were done on schedule, on budget, and on scope. There was a bit of cleanup needed after the roof insulation was done, but Mike had it taken care of. He has a good drywall guy who opens trenches in the roof, then closes them back up in a professional way right after installation. I am calling to inquire about another house insulation project today.

AUSA Insulation
We hired USA Insulation to blow insulation in our attic, which had very little exisiting insulation.  They were prompt, courteous and friendly.  The insulation service was quick and the installers did a great job of cleaning up.  The insulation has made a huge difference in our indoor temperatures.  We were very happy with the service and the results!

I wish there was an option for an "A+", as I could not have been more happy about the work provided by Absolute Insulation. Absolute Insulation was very professional and knowledgeable about insulation. The final costs of the job came in slightly less than the estimate. The insulation was replaced over 2 days. The first day, they cleaned out the old formaldehyde-filled insulation with a giant vacuum cleaner. They ran the vacuum cleaner tube through a 2nd floor window, and there was no dust and dirt in our house after they were done. I had received estimates from other insulation companies that did not clean up the attic first, but just put new insulation on top of the old, dirty and ineffective insulation. So I was very happy that Absolute Insulation cleaned the attic. The second day, they put in the new insulation. We had opted for blow-in fiber glass (the materials used were environmentally certified). The insulation work took about 4 hours. They put an even cover in. There was no dust or dirt in the house when they were done. Moreover, they covered the attic opening, and back of the hatch, as well as the space around our all-house fan with insulation mats. Two weeks later, there has been no settling (e.g. shrinkage), and the insulation is working wonders in preventing the upstairs from getting hot in the summer. Due to the savings on cooling costs in the summer and heating costs in the winter, we estimated that the insulation work will pay for itself within 2 years. I had received estimates from two other insulation companies. Absolute Insulation was by far the superior. It was the cheapest, they cleaned out the old insulation, and they were not carrying dirty materials and bags through the house. They were also the only company that did not overestimate the square-footage of our house.

AQuality Insulation
We used Quality Insulation twice and there was only one item that could have gone better. Quality Insulation insulated our attic in our renovated rowhouse. The developer forgot to insulate the attic (oops!) Quality insulation pumped insulation up there. Their guys were great about making sure the insulation was spread throughout a very shallow attic. We had Quality insulation (QI) back to reinsulate the floor under our kitchen. The area used to be a sleeping porch and the insulation installed there did not seem to be doing much. QI reinstalled insulation there the right way and the floor became much less drafty. The one complaint I have is that there is an area under the floor of the bathroom that is still overly affected by the outside temperatures. That is the one area that was sealed up again before I got outside. I would have liked to see what was going on there related to the plumbing and the amount of insulation able to be packed in there. Between the floor being drafty there and the toilet conducting cold from the outside, that bathroom gets cold quickly. Besides that mystery, I was happy with Quality Insulation.

AUSA Insulation
Hired USA Insulation to insulate the attic of my 1958 rancher. Job went off without a hitch. Had 20 inches of blown insulation put in the attic along with an extra layer over all the duct work in the attic. Crew arrived on time, was courteous and cleaned up before they left. Working with USA Insulation was a great experience and I would definitely recommend them.

AQuality Insulation
Dan and the crew of Quality Insulation were great. Dan was very kind and explained the work that was needed and guaranteed that my husband and I would not have to have to worry about insulation again. He is honest which is important to me and gave a good affordable price for the work. The other companies that I called before I called Quality Insulation wanted to charge twice as much for my insulation. The workers respected my home and the process was very clean. If you need insulation I would highly recommend Quality Insulation.

AComfenergy, LLC
I've been trying to find an expert in insulation for months to come out and tell me out to properly insulate around a removed chimney and Comfenergy was the expert I needed. Even though the insulation part of the job was too small for Comfenergy (wasn't above their minimum quote value) they were happy to give me their expert advice and I appreciate the time spent as I now know what to ask the roofing contractor to do in order to insulate this correctly. Thanks!

AHome Energy Medics
Overall a positive experience with this company. Our home was pretty cold in basement and first floor and we hired Home Energy Medics to perform an energy audit and to do insulation work. The employee who did the energy audit was very professional and courteous, and provided us with options and a cost breakdown. Once we selected what we wanted to do, the project manager - who also is the owner of the company - went above and beyond to address the insulation issues in our home. He kept us informed with daily status updates, and was very responsive. Though pricey, we felt the work done with Home Energy Medics was well worth it and I would hire them again for any future projects. The owner was very pleasant to work with and their customer service was excellent.

The two man crew was on time, I really appreciated that they work weekends which is more convenient for us.   They installed blown insulation in two attics, including some batt insulation on the walls.   The crew spent several hours installing the insulation and cleaned everything before leaving.

David is a consummate professional and is always willing to take a second to respond to questions. He made himself available at multiple stages of the job for in-depth conversations and was always responsive to our concerns. We are confident in his workmanship and products and should we have further insulation needs in our home, he will definitely be our top pick.

David and his team were very professional and the work they did was excellent---we could tell the difference the next day. The temperature on the 2nd floor is several degree lower than before due to the new insulation and feels much more comfortable. David has solid knowledge regarding insulation and he explains things clearly. Definitely would recommend David and Prudent Homes to my friends and neighbors.

AQuality Insulation
Dan and his team did a fantastic job. Our new home did not have any insulation in the attic. Quality insulation came out and within a few hours air sealed and insulated our attic. They provided about 1000 lbs of blown in insulation. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I came home from work and could not tell that we had workers in our house. Dan also took pictures and sent them to me so that I could see each stage of the process. Would recommend them to anyone interested in insulation.

AHome Energy Saving Solutions LLC
Home Energy Savings Solutions (HESS) is an amazing company to work with and I can’t say enough good things about my experience, quality of work, and great customer service provided by the owner Mohammed. Long story short, I had a leaking air duct in my attic that was ruining my ceiling. Based on advice and reviews online, I hired another company to perform an energy audit. They did a great job with the audit, but when it came to the proposed fixes and scope of work, they were exorbitantly priced (almost triple of what HESS charged) and very pushy about completing all the proposed fixes despite my budget. When I told my boss this, she recommended HESS based on her very positive experience. From the start, Mohammed was extremely responsive (even on weekends!) and helpful in answering my many questions. I could tell that Mohammed was truly trying to help me and not just make a profit. I hired HESS to complete their own energy audit and the results and proposed fixes were very similar to the audit performed by the other company. What I liked about Mohammed was that instead of recommending unnecessary work he told me easy fixes I could do myself and was only recommended what was necessary, advising what fixes would provide the biggest payoffs and fixes that could wait until my budget allowed. I hired HESS to install new bathroom exhaust fans, insulate my air ducts, seal/insulate/weatherize my attic, insulate my HVAC/water heater closet, insulate my garage, and basically make my entire house as air tight as possible. The all the work would have been completed in one day except due to rain, they had to return the following day to do some insulation work outside. The quality of work was great and the workers were polite and cleaned up so well I could hardly tell they were there (which is hard to do with old fiberglass blown in insulation and the new cellulose insulation). After having the new bath exhaust fans installed, I found that they weren’t as quite as I had hoped. Mohammed had his electrician switch them out for more expensive ones without any additional cost to me for parts or labor, which is top notch customer service, something that is hard to find today. The best part is that my house is so much more comfortable even with this record breaking heat. I was convinced that I would have to install a second HVAC unit for my third floor as the bedrooms were always so hot. That problem was solved and I can tell my HVAC isn’t working as hard as the house cooks down faster and stays cool.

David and his team installed dense-packed fiberglass insulation in our flat-roofed attic, using the drill-and-fill method. He was prompt, responsive, and did a great job explaining our options. He charged a competitive rate, and we were really impressed with the whole experience of working with him. Our house had a significant temperature problem on the second floor because of the lack of insulation (hot in the summer and freezing in the winter), and the difference was noticeable right away once he finished installing the insulation, which was great. I would definitely recommend hiring him!

AUSA Insulation
Wow!! Terrific!! I'm writing this letter to thank USA Insulation for the wonderful job that your energy consultant and installers did by insulating my home. I'm so happy with the results! My home was not well insulated, and I immediately noticed it was warmer and more comfortable after being installed. Everyone at USA Insulation was so courteous and knowledgeable through the process. I was so impressed that everything was completed in one day, and the crew left no mess behind. Thanks so much!!"

AQuality Insulation
Description of work:  a full tear-down of existing insulation; identification and insulation of draft sources that had caused water pipes to freeze; insulation of surrounding walls and gaps; installed heat-reflective finishing over insulation; placed wrap insulation on water pipes; rebuilt drywall. The work, which involved a difficult reinsulation job, was performed very timely and thoroughly.  Dan and his people were very responsive and attentive, and the final result appears to fit the bill exactly.  Price was very fair.

Recent Review: F H Furr is indeed fortunate to have Barry and Danny in their employ! The pair were courteous, professional and quick. They both exhibited great knowledge in completing their tasks. I regret that I don't have the names of the insulation installers but they were as efficient, neat and thorough.

Why hire an insulation contractor?

While insulation may be done as a DIY project, hiring a professional is always a better choice. They have the experience and expertise to inspect your home and analyze areas where insulation is most needed.

Insulation contractors will also check the home for any existing air leaks so they can seal them prior to adding an insulation barrier. In addition, they offer critical advice regarding the best insulation material to use for your home.

How much will insulation installers near me charge?

Most homeowners spend between $3,500 to $4,500 to insulate their entire home.

This cost is often lower if only specific areas need insulation (such as the roof or the basement). Some common areas of the home requiring insulation include:

  • The attic ($1,700-$2,000 for a 1,200 square foot attic)
  • Exterior walls ($3,000-$7,000)
  • Cathedral-type ceilings ($360- $720)
  • Basement ($1,200-$1,800)

What factors should I consider? What about labor?

Cost will depend on the amount of labor required during installation. Labor costs often lie between $0.95 to $2 per square foot. In addition, the materials required for insulation may also add to your final cost. There are several methods through which insulation can be done.

  • Spray foam: this involves insulation foam being applied directly to surfaces of interest using a spray gun.
  • Foam board: consists of caulking and furring stripes being applied on walls using an adhesive.
  • Loose fill insulation: this method uses a machine that applies fiberglass, cellulose, and mineral insulating materials on surfaces of interest.
  • Blankets: involves using batt and rolls to place and staple the insulating material on specific surfaces.

Insulation contractors will play an important role in advising on which type of insulation to use. Make sure you work with a licensed and experienced professional who provides transparent pricing.
