Recent Review: Ali did great work, with attention to detail, not to mention that he is kind and cleaned up every day. He worked long hours and was efficient and did not take on another project until ours was completed. Would highly recommend him for ceramic tiling work!

OMG TILE AND GROUT RESTORATIONS LLC
Award 2017Super Service Award
Recent Review: A single crack had developed running through three 1x1 foot ceramic tiles (2 1/2 tiles, really) in our basement bathroom.  After ordering and receiving the replacement tiles I needed, I put OMG Tile under contract, as OMG Tile was quick to respond and a very competitively priced bidder.  Fredi Aviles, the owner, proved very knowledgeable, and impressed me as he supervised a less skilled worker.  The result was an excellent replacement job in a short timeframe.

Recent Review: Lester Garcia came out personally to do the estimate and came back to review the work his crew did at the end of the day and a half job.  His two man crew was very professional and friendly and worked with as little disruption as possible.  Lester was willing to work with me to help reduce my overall cost based on the demolition work I was willing to do myself to prepare for the tile. This was a small job ( 70 square feet ) and some other companies were not interested in bidding, but Lester lived up to the "no job too big or too small" motto on his van.  I will definitely contact him again when I am ready to take on additional projects.

Lakewood Home Builders Inc
Award 2017Super Service Award
Recent Review: Lakewood Home Builders, Inc.is a company owned and operated by ?stand up guys,? and notable among them is Lance Rittenhouse, Vice President for Remodeling.  Please bear with me while I explain.  A few months ago, my husband and I contracted with the company to renovate our guest bathroom.  We selected all of the flooring, tile, lighting, bathroom components and fixtures; they were ordered, delivered, and placed in an adjacent room in advance of the date for work to begin.  When the wall tile and bull nose trim arrived, however, they were placed in our garage where they could be cut.  Because the bathroom has no natural light, the wall tile and trim I had selected was a very pale ceramic with faint veining to match the travertine floor tile.  While Lance and I could only see the color of the trim, (the wall tiles being too heavy to open), we both checked the delivery against the order and invoice, and the description and stock numbers aligned.  Work proceeded apace:  by the fifth day of work, the entire bathroom had been demoed; the blocking, new plumbing and electrical wiring had been installed; and Fairfax County inspected the work and cleared construction to go forward.  Green board was installed on the walls the second week, followed by Durock cement board for the shower stall.  The floor tile was laid next.  As the tiler began installing the shower wall tile, however, I kept thinking that the tile looked a lot darker and more yellow than what I remembered selecting.  But, then there was only one light in the room from the exhaust fan as none of the new light fixtures had been installed, and so I reasoned that this was why the tile looked so ?off.?  But, when he began to install the bull nose trim, the difference in shades became apparent:  the trim that I had examined when it was delivered was the shade of tile I had selected; but, the wall tile that had been delivered was at least 2 to 3 shades darker and more yellow.  We soon learned that the tile company had discontinued the tile I had selected and delivered its replacement instead: a yellower tile with the identical descriptor and stock number. The tile company promised to produce the right bull nose trim for the darker tile within a week, and so to stay on schedule, I reluctantly agreed to keep the darker tile (hoping that more lighting would soften it) and wait for the replacement bull nose trim to arrive.  As I waited through the first week, and then the second, both Lance and his co-owners were in touch almost daily on my behalf with the tile company, but were unable to get any satisfaction.  By the beginning of the 3rd week, Lakewood was told that it would be one more week before I could expect to receive bull nose trim to match the tile I had begun to loathe.  That?s when Lance and Lakewood Home Builders came through like the ?stand up guys? they are.  Lance gave me the choice of continuing to wait for bull nose trim to match the darker tile, or allowing their demo crew to rip out the tile already installed ? no charge to me ? and I could select new wall tile.  Lakewood would pick up the extra costs of demo and installing the new wall tile, and further, would convince the tile company to provide the new tile at no extra cost.  This was a deal I could not refuse!  Happily, I went back to the tile company the next morning, and selected new wall tile and trim, while Lakewood?s demo crew removed the old tile.  The new tile was delivered the next day, and the tile installer quickly went back to work, followed in quick succession by the electrician, the plumber, the carpenter, and the painters and finishing crew.  In the end, the bathroom looks exactly as I had envisioned it -- a perfect conclusion to a project that could have ?gone south? but didn?t, all because Lance Rittenhouse and Lakewood Home Builders are truly?stand-up guys.?

J & J Contracting
Recent Review: Started well and went bad quickly. Found the cabinets were very low quality. The J&J installer on site said he was adding extra screws and hoped they would hold together. We later found out that J& marked the cabinets up onver 100% which is fraud.  MUch lower quality cabinets then we were lead to believe were were paying for. They were more than 1 month late to complete the job. We would go days without anyone showing up to work and did not get notice if and when they would come to work.  They left the job at the end of Jan 2013 with a long punch list to address, including major issues with the new tile floor they had installed and they assured us they would address the issues quickly.  They did not come back until May , after multiple calls and emails. They tried 3 times from May to July to fix the floor. There were loose tiles and grout popping out. Many tiles were unevenly installed and we would trip on them. The last time they tried to fix the floor, the installer they hired found a defect in the overall installation as the durrock was not glued to the plywood sub floor, which was why the tiles were coming loose. When I brought this issue to the attention of J&J, they abanded the job and I never heard from them again. I am currently pursuing legal action against J&J.

Ryan to the Rescue LLC
Recent Review: We had a wonderful experience with Ryan to the Rescue. From start to finish everything went off with out a hitch. We had a problem to make sure tile in the master bathroom floor to make sure it was level but Ryan was completely confident in making sure that we would not have any issue. The painting went wonderful and done professionally. They also were able to make changes that  on the fly when I wanted to make changes.  The bathrooms were not done at the same time because so we would not have no bathrooms. Ryan's idea. So we had very little inconvenience only having to sleep on the couch because of paint fumes. They will be hired by us in the future.  I love having a handy man that I can trust to do the work asked and have in my home.

Recent Review: Russell found the drain pipe in disrepair and fixed that before the installation.  He hauled the enclosure pieces up two flights of steps--heavy stuff in order to do the installation work. He gave me tips on how to buy kitchen cabinets and counters at wholesale prices for future kitchen rehab.  He was personable throughout and never stopped working even for lunch.

AHome Breakthrough LLC...
My wife and I are enjoying our remodeled bathroom and appreciate the excellent quality of the work done by Home Breakthrough: new porcelain tiles, floor, expanded shower space and new shower-head. Much appreciation to Francisco for his friendly attention, design guidance and responsiveness. Much appreciation as well to Cesar for his attention to details and focus on high quality finish.

AUnique Floor Design Center...
Unique Floor Design did an excellent job replacing our ceramic tile floor. It was a big job with many challenges (odd-shaped space, kitchen appliances and toilet had to be removed and reinstalled, subfloor not level, etc.) Their crew was very skilled and highly motivated to do quality work. They were punctual and did not miss any days. The job took a little longer than originally anticipated, but they did not try to cut corners to finish. The ultimate cost was slightly higher than originally anticipated, due to additional materials that they warned me might be needed during the original estimate in order to level the floor. I highly recommend this company for their conscientious workmanship.

We received outstanding service with Kustom Floors. They worked within our budget, provided excellent advice and were very polite and friendly. A particular problem arose which required a custom threshold. We were very pleased with how skillfully and quickly the problem was resolved. The end product is beautiful! I will not hesitate to use Kustom Floors again and highly recommend them.

AMy Carpet Cleaning Service...
Let me first say that our rugs were dirty and the tile filthy. We have two big dogs and one little dog who have done their worst to the rugs and the tile in the family room. Our girls have brought in lots of dirt over the past 10 years. Mopping just didn’t cut it. I tried a steam cleaner and it didn’t touch the ground in dirt. If you lifted the corner of the rug you could see just how dirty the tile was. Rich came in and cleaned it all up (and made friends with the girls). We watched as the carpets came back to life and the tile returned to its original color. We were very happy with Rich and the work he did. We will definately use him again!

AJA Renovations & Home Improvement...
Jairo at JA Reonovation is great. We discovered mold in our shower and needed someone to help rebuild it. Jairo responded quickly and was on the job in 2 days, when others needed up to 5 weeks. In 3 days he had new cement board up, sealed, and new tile cut and placed. He encouraged me to work with him, and I learned a lot. He was fun to work with. His price was very affordable. He adjusted to some last minute additions to the project (adding some plumbing and lighting/electrical work). we will hire him again and I recommend him to others.

ANicely Done Kitchens & Baths...
Everything went wonderfully! Not only did Nicely Done get a jump start on the demo to take advantage of my husband and I out of town 7+ days but the designer Kate Couchman worked with us to narrow down selection choices. We knew we wanted a white cabinet, non-busy quartz countertop but were uncertain about the backsplash and pull choices. I also REALLY appreciated her willingness to research how to be strategic with limited space I had in the existing design so as to ensure maximum storage options for me. It was wonderful to deal with Kate, Olivia Kwon and Steve Endress. They also connected us with ADU so we could get new high end fridge and dishwasher and handled delivery too. All in all Nicely Done knocked it out of the ballpark!!!!

ASignature Contracting LLC...
We have ceramic tile countertops that were installed when our home was built in 1996. Over time a few tiles had gotten minor cracks and the grout had become worn and difficult to maintain. We considered replacing the tile, but after looking at the amount of work that would be involved and cost of replacement, we decided to explore the possibility of regrouting. I contacted Signature Contracting and corresponded with JJ, sending him photographs and measurements. He confirmed that he could do the job. Given that it was a rather small job and that we live in a fairly remote location, he explained that he would have to find a time to work us into his schedule. As we were in no rush, that was fine. It turned out that a window of two days became available, so we went ahead with the work. JJ and his assistant showed up in the morning of the first day. They were a pleasure to work with. JJ discussed the materials he would use, covered options, and work began. Some tiles were replaced with extra tiles we had, the counters were regrouted, and the seam between the counters and backsplash was recaulked. As it happened, the project was completed in a single day, which worked well for both of us. The counters look beautiful. We were very happy with our experience and are glad we know there is someone we can contact if any other projects come up.
