The sunroom addition looks great. All renovations built the addition from pictures and drawings I provided. The room came out as I wanted and the workmanship was excellent. All inspections passed the first time. The schedule worked around some rainy weather for the foundation and framing. Jim, the project manager, was easy to work with and understood my design. He was very responsive as we stayed in daily contact via text and site visits. Tony, the foreman, and crew were very experienced and built the room according to the design. Questions about the design and problems that cropped up were answered/resolved quickly.

AMoss Building & Design
I hired Moss Building and Design for a second story bathroom addition and bedroom expansion. The designers Emily and Liz drew out the entire plan for us and made sure we were happy with the design. The project started on time, building materials and long leads were purchased ahead of time and the day by day schedule was posted on the customer portal. Guess what, they finished ahead of schedule, achieved professional results and were quick to address any issues we had. Wouldnt have been possible without the expertise of our on-site manager Chad Jones, who watched every detail and checked on the house daily. The entire team helped us manage our budget well and were engaged with us throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend Moss and wont hesitate to hire them again

AJ Building Contractor did a spectacular job on our addition. My wife and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of the product they produced. Arthur was very professional, upfront, and realistic with every aspect of the project. The timeline they provide it was spot on. His crews were very courteous of our existing property. After we had moved back in a few minor punch list items needed to be completed (as expected). Everything was handled to the T. Arthur runs a superb business and I think it reflected on our new home.

AAJ Building Contractor, LLC
Arthur and his amazing crew are well in the midst of putting on a large addition to our home and renovating existing spaces. This is a difficult process and Arthur has been excellent to work with! He knows we have a strict budget and is very open and honest about pricing, so we can make informed decisions. As can happen in all additions on old homes, we ran into an issue. Arthur informed us right away and we feel confident did the best he could to remedy our situation and ensure our family's safety. When I changed our kitchen layout, Arthur spent hours listening to me, talking about options and ultimately helping me find a layout that will work best for my family's needs. I am also very impressed with his crew and with the specialist whom he contracts ( such as his plumber and electrician). I know the main crew of guys by name. They are easy to talk with and professional. We have moved out (as these project are a lot messier than you anticipate). I work near my home and come by to check in at random times throughout the day. The guys are always working hard! Honestly, I can't say enough good things about AJ Building Contractors. I am confident that my home will be completed in a reasonable time frame and will look beautiful.

MW was excellent throughout the process. Their crew was professional, pleasant and worked hard. We are very pleased with the quality of work they performed. We were very pleased with the communication and options they provided on design and other questions. Their PM worked closely with us throughout the process and kept us informed on progress, issues and decisions we needed to make. When there were questions that weren't covered in the contract, we were able to work with them to mutually agreeable solutions. MW Construction was great, we would definitely recommend them, and would use them again for a similar project.

LOVE OUR NEW HOUSE. We hired Bryan for a major renovation and addition to a 1949 Cape Cod. We generally knew what we wanted and the management and crew worked with us to realize our vision. The work was done on time and on budget (at a fraction of some other bids) and exceeded our expectations. There was a delay due to permitting as well as windows, but they pushed hard and got us in our house on time. There are so many items in a renovation timeline that can throw off a project from finalizing designs, permitting, inclement weather, and special orders. Communication is the key so long as you know what is going on delays do not turn into frustration. We were not living in the house at the time but I dropped in frequently to check on progress. This allowed me to get to know much of the staff and I truly enjoyed my interactions. This was a big undertaking, issues with jobs like these are bound to occur, it is how they are resolved is the mark of a good contractor. We had no roof during the summer when we had some horrendous rains and although the house was properly tarped water did find its way in. A few exterior walls that were not originally slated for removal did get wet, Bryan removed the old drywall and wet insulation and repaired these at no extra cost. Other times, if I noted a concern or felt I saw an issue it was resolved. Amadeo (one of the owners and overall project manager) takes to heart homeowners desires and truly cares, during our frequent walkthroughs if he saw something he didn't like, he had it fixed, even when I didn't notice. The lead framer, Walter, always has a smile on his face, clearly loves his job and does great work. Their electrician Simion hands down the BEST electrician I have ever met. Douglas leads the finishing work and takes pride in his work. Our walls are smooth and our paint perfect. What many do not think about though is... what happens when you get your keys and the house is yours? Houses settle, new construction will shift/settle over time or with that first heavy snow, screw-heads may pop and occasional corner beads too. This does not worry me. Bryan has a 5-year warranty on all their work. I have called them once already and the repairs were made the next day and I couldn't tell they were here. Bottom line, despite any small hiccups along the way we are 100% happy with our home, all who visit cannot believe the quality of the renovation, the open floor plan, the spacious rooms and the little design elements that really make our house great. I pushed for certain elements and they accommodated me and in the end, our house qualified for a Gold rating with Arlington's Green Home Choice program. When we are ready to add a screen porch, I will have them back!

ATHEO DesignBuild Company
We recently had the need to expand our living area to include a Family Room with handicap accessible full Bathroom off the Kitchen Area. We occasionally had some special needs for the space as well. Ellis was very thoughtful during the design phase of the project to make sure all our needs and wishes were fulfilled. This special attention did not stop once the construction started. He and his crew were always inclusive of our opinions on how best to resolve the inevitable detail issues that crop up during the construction phase. This gave us peace of mind that even during those challenging moments, all would turn out well. We were also reassured as Ellis kept to the budget and schedule as originally envisioned. When we introduced some changes to the project, we found Ellis’ pricing very fair. In the end, we were and remain 2 years later, very impressed with the quality of the work. We will use Ellis’ firm again and often recommend him highly.

AUNIQUE CONSTRUCTION
We cannot say enough good things about Unique Construction and the company s owner, Mr. Jimmy Dean. We interviewed 6 other builders before selecting Mr. Dean. Quite simply, he is one of the nicest people we have ever met. Also one of the most conscientious, responsible, trustworthy, generous, patient and fair-minded. Mr. Dean s work is outstanding. After 35 years of experience, he knows construction inside and out, and he has a long list of references who sing his praises. He is a perfectionist who will not rest until he is certain he has done the job right and the client is satisfied. He never takes shortcuts; he always wants to do the job the right way, as he puts it, even if it entails more time and effort on his part. Mr. Dean stayed within budget and finished on schedule. He never nickle-and-dimed us. Quite the opposite, in fact. He gave us a number of items we never thought to ask for in the contract (e.g., back splashes for counters, mirrors larger than requested, extra towel bars, etc.), and yet he never charged an extra cent for these additional items. And towards the end of the project, he agreed to take on some additional work which we had neglected to include in the contract. Until we insisted on paying him for this additional work, he had no intention of billing us for it. Additionally, Mr. Dean has an artist s eye and impeccable taste. For example, when tiling our showers, he offered to create border designs for them. As a result, we ended up with two gorgeous showers instead of the plain, unadorned ones we had planned. Mr. Dean keeps the work site impeccably clean. (In fact, during the project, our town inspector was bringing other builders to our house to show them an example of what a well maintained site looks like). Mr. Dean did an excellent final clean-up and left the property in pristine condition. Finally, throughout the project, Mr. Dean was extremely easy to reach by phone as well as email. As first-time remodelers, we tended to get nervous about things. Almost every evening we sent Mr. Dean at least one email (sometimes a whole barrage of emails) asking him questions about various issues. He promptly (and very patiently) replied to every single email, responding to every question and concern raised. And unlike other builders who disappear once the project is complete (or in some cases, even before the project is complete), Mr. Dean has remained just as reachable as always, even after completion of the job. Mr. Dean does both modular construction and conventional construction. We chose a modular addition. (A modular house or addition is indistinguishable from a conventionally built house or addition. However, modular construction is much faster, less disruptive, usually less costly, and environmentally friendlier. And modular structures are less prone to mold). In summation, it has been an absolute delight working with Mr. Dean, and we would hire him again in a heartbeat.

FCaseCo
Caseco is a nightmare. They could not do a single, solitary, thing right. They charged a ton of money for slow, subpar work. At over 230$ per sq ft, you shouldn't have to wait over a year for work so bad, they have to keep correcting it. I could go on, but suffice to say, THEY ARE THE WORST

AThomas Custom Builders Inc
They just did awesome work. They were detailed. We wanted a top notch builder, and they certainly were that. We found out we liked them. We had them upgrade all three bathrooms. We had them put in a washer and dryer, and a master bedroom. They converted a closet into a washer and dryer. So, they had to run all of the plumbing. Their attention to detail was phenomenal when we went through the house. They were expensive. They stripped it to the sheet floor, and put in the ceramic tile. The work is spot on. They took a lot of time, which is why they're expensive.

AVirginia Home Remodel LLC
The job was turn our side yard into a bedroom, walck inn closet and a bath, maximizing the space to the city's set-back. Of the five contractors I discussed the project with, only Virginia home remodel saw my real idea - to get the largest space available keeping the city's regulations in mind. There service and price included architectural design and plans. They drafted not only the addition, but also the entire house because the city required it. They listened to and incorporated design elements that were important to us. They did quality work at every stage - laying the concrete foundation, framing, interior and exterior walls (adding upgraded insulation at no charge), some tricky plumbing and electrical work and all the finish work. Part of our job including redoing the flooring from the front room and extending it into the addition - fantastic job there! Also they did  outstanding work on the bathroom, going above our simple vision by adding their marble counter and shower walls, quality tile and super cabinetry. The most impressive part of their work was matching the existing construction, which is really difficult. They matched the stucco pattern, drywall texture, tiling and interior door style. Their stucco guy added stucco pop outs which tie directly into the existing stucco - entirely seamless! When it turned out they could not match my rain gutter, they demoed the existing and replaced it with new, quality and matching gutters. Every time someone looks at our addition, they comment has that isn't apparent that it was added, at all. Very satisfying to hear! Last thing, and very important to me, is cost. They were amongst the lowest cost bidders and yet offered more (like in-house drafting and planning) than any other contractor we looked. Can I recommend them? Well, I already have to a good friend. And I'd recommend them to anyone who asked. We are very happy in our addition.

AAll Renovations Inc
We contracted with Omar of All-Renovations to build a two car garage for us. We interviewed six contractors and choose him because his pricing was reasonable and his contract/bid was very detailed. Construction began in early April (2017) and ended in mid-May. I believe to total time from start to finish was approximately six weeks. Having a construction site at your home isn’t fun, so I was very happy that his crew got the thing built so quickly. There was someone there almost every day, including weekends. They did a very nice job. The concrete was poured so there’s a very slight peak at the rear corner next to the house, and the whole floor slopes to the low point at the corner next to the garage door furthest from the house. So any water that gets in the garage will flow away from the house and out the side next to the yard. This is very subtle (I doubt my wife even noticed). Sure will make hosing the thing out easy. We choose a single, large (18 foot) door. High winds can blow a garage door in if it’s not well supported. The concrete crew constructed a lip in the concrete just inside where the garage door closes to add support. I’d never seen this done before. The siding is a perfect match to what was on the house. The shingles were as close as you can get given the rest of the roof is 12 years old. We asked for a pull down set of stairs to access the attic so we can use it for storage. Last night, I went up there for the first time and was surprised to see that the attic had a floor and a light/switch – I didn’t ask for that, but it’s a nice touch. I’ve heard so many nightmare stories about contractors who take your money and disappear for months. With the exception of reading reviews, it’s hard to tell a good one from a bad one when you interview them. I don’t often write reviews, but my wife and I are so happy with the garage we got and the relatively short construction time that I decided to make an exception and write one.

AMichael Nash Design Build & Homes
Have been planning a large home addition with Michael Nash for the past year.  We especially appreciate their one-price system that saves us from running around to different suppliers for the various materials and furnishings.  Everything can be chosen from their vast showroom.  It's a year for us to decide on a plan because my wife keeps changing the design.  Sean and Oliver have been very patient and helpful with our constant changes and have made the process less stressful than it could have been.  We will break ground any day now.  Hopefully the build will go as smoothly as the planning process.

The work was excellent. I think they are very professional and nice. If there was any kind of problem, even minor, they were always fix the problem with no questions asked. The owner, Alex, was terrific. he was always there when I needed him. The foreman, Manuel was always able to understand everything I needed. He could answer questions even before I asked. Their pricing was very resonable. I had other estimates and they were the best price. Normally constuction experiences are awful and they made the experience as pleasant as possible. I would recommend them to everybody. They were able to hire very good subcontractors, particularly the those that installed my tile and granite countertops.

BVale Home Improvement LLC
My project was adding a second story onto the 1950s era 2 bedroom 1 bath portion of my house in Arlington VA. Somewhere around 2010 the previous owners added on a master bedroom / bath and sitting room bringing the house up to 3 beds / 2 baths and around 1800sf, the second floor addition (the subject of this review) brought the house up to just under 3,000sf and 5 beds, 3 baths. The Good: Vale's price came in below the next lowest bid. I was surprised at the time because I had been getting preliminary pricing and Vale and another contractor were very close, with the other being just under Vale's price. However, once we had the bid drawings done and held a pre-bid meeting, the other contractor attended the meeting complaining about rapid price escalation in construction materials and tacked on a big increase in his price. Vale was the only contractor that agreed to let us stay in the house as much as possible. Alfredo (Vale's owner), said that it might only be a day here or there when they needed to take the power down or shut water off that we would need to be out of the house. As it turned out, we stayed in the house the entire time, confining ourselves to the master bed / bath (this was not part of the house getting the addition) and the majority of the kitchen. To their credit, Vale showed up nearly every working day (until towards the end) and sometimes on weekends to catch up. Unfortunately, it was rare to see Alfredo supervising the crews and there was no foreman in charge when Alfredo wasn't there. However, they did work hard, for example, when the trusses were delivered, they were unable to lift them over the temporary power line to the house. To my amazement Vale had them placed on the ground and then raised them by hand onto the framed walls of the second story. In my opinion, lifting 33' long trusses 20' vertically was a herculean task, but they did it without complaint. The Bad: If what you're looking for with your contractor is a lot of communication and collaboration, look elsewhere. For example, the detailed schedule I had written into the contract for Vale to provide turned out to be Alfredo coming over to borrow a piece of paper and writing down what he thought would happen every week or two. This set the tone of things - basically, don't get worked up about things happening according to a specific timeline, don't expect a lot of information coming your way, but trust me things will get done. My architect had shown a 20" overhang around the perimeter of the roof. The front and back were set by the length of the trusses, but the sides had to be framed on-site to the appropriate dimension. After the trusses were framed I realized they were only 12". Alfredo or a foreman on site would have caught that problem before the trusses were set, but they went up unchecked. Alfredo's solution to the problem was to tack on two more 2x4's to the sides, which brought the overhang to about 15". While I wasn't crazy about the compromise and I wasn't asked to approve, I didn't protest any further. Our plans showed a band of white PVC trim right above the windows on the first floor, however, Vale installed the trim higher and exposed the old wood lintels above the windows that had been covered over for 60 years. The old wood was not attractive and stuck out like a sore thumb. Vale wound up just painting all of them without filling or sanding any of them. It looks better than before, but not as good as I hoped or what was in the plans. Also, the wood floor installation was substandard. There are more highly visible nail marks on these floors than any I've ever seen, and they stand in stark contrast to the hardwood on the first floor where nail marks are hard to find. This is particularly noticeable on the stair nosing where some of the marks are large and not at all the same color as the wood. I've asked Alfredo to fix at least the stair nosing, but he has not yet responded. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a lower-priced construction solution with a crew that will get things done and you don't mind not having much communication or collaboration, Vale Home Improvement is a great option. If money is not a problem and you want comprehensive communication and creative, collaborative solutions, you may want to look elsewhere.

FCrossbuild, LLC
Atis Lemis and Crossbuild are quite literally a criminal enterprise who will destroy your home and extort you for money and bring in other convicted felons to help him. They were and are still a nightmare. Legal action will now be necessary to try to recover enough money to complete my project. Mr. Lemis has stated to me in writing that any law suit will put him out of business so if you are doing business with him you should stop now. Nothing could possibly recover a year of my life where Mr. Lemis threatened me, endangered my pets and destroyed my beautiful home. A project that was supposed to take 12 weeks has now gone over a year and crossbuild has walked off the job repeatedly. Atis Lemis, a convicted felon, wrote the contract, set the price and wrote the payment terms. He took a 1/3 down payment and spent it all before he ever started my job. Rather than follow the contract, he then would demand money whenever he felt like it under the threat of walking off the job which he did anyway - pure EXTORTION!! He also colluded with another criminal, James Andrew Kehoe III, formerly of Orion construction and RJT, to pay him to help convince me to use his company who he then paid $10,000 of my money to Mr Kehoe in a deal that was done completely behind my back. Crossbuild’s work is substandard and Mr. Lemis does not know what he is doing. The wood floor in the new room is unfinished and must be redone, builtins, which were extra, were never finished, the roofing material he used is discoloring and cracking and will soon leak. He never completed more than $20,000 worth of work in the contract and the damage to my property is very extensive. The entire front yard, including two parking spaces were entirely destroyed. My rear yard had a stone path which Crossbuilds workers destroyed most of the beautiful white stone pieces by throwing construction materials onto them. Much of my landscaping is dead and the way Crossbuild ran the new gutter system has caused enormous erosion issues. My driveway is cracked and caving in from the weight of trucks Crossbuild ran onto it. Both sliding glass doors that were installed leaked and much of the finish work does not match the original house. Two attic fans installed by Mr. Lemis do not work. Mr. Lemis and Crossbuild are quite literally a criminal enterprise. They violated multiple clauses in the contract including Material Breach of Contract, Time is of the essence and the projected completion date at 12 weeks which is now over a year and Mr. Lemis has left the job permanently as he informed me in text. Specifically, if I did not pay him more money (not remotely in compliance with the contract and all of which has been fully paid) he was never returning. If you hire Crossbuild, Atis Lemis or James Kehoe you can be sure your property will be damaged, your money stolen and the job will never be completed. If I had known of Mr. Lemis criminal past I would never have hired him nor should you. He is dangerously unstable and very aggressive. He has spent the past two summers working on a local private school. His work endangers the children who will attend that school as he told me part of roof he put in collapsed last year. CROSSBUILD AND ATIS LEMIS ARE DANGEROUS CRIMINALS. DO NOT HIRE THEM! I tried to upload photos to show the extent of the damage. Unfortunately the app did not allow me to.

I called Mike for a quote on a residential living room addition. He was quick to reply, professional and punctual on our agreed date of meeting. He was easy to talk to and had a great wealth of information on building and met all of my requirements. I appreciate his understanding with my limited amount of free time (full time working mom of two kids, one a 6 month old) and the ease of being able to get in contact with him at any time. He was able to give great recommendations for the construction job and a ball park estimate. We are waiting to decide on what direction to go with the build currently but if we are able to afford Mike's level of craftsmanship I know we will be happy with him as our contractor.

AS Unlimited LLC
Above Expectations. Jose Rubio and his crew (S-Unlimited) provided skillful and thorough construction of a room addition to my town home. Using a roughly drawn plan, his team, in three short weeks, completed the project. Jose has gathered a myriad of skillful craftsmen he can call on in the framing, drywall, roofing, electrical, and painting trades. Changes requested as work progressed were approved, without a flurry of change orders to the contract. The employees and subs were courteous, pleasant, and hard working. I chose S-Unlimted as a local (to Manassas) company, and was rewarded with satisfaction that exceeded my expectations.
