Lisa is wonderful to work with!  I hired Lisa to paint the cabinets in the kitchen and pantry.  She is down-to-earth, friendly and has excellent customer service skills - attentive to detail and professional.  She helped select the perfect paint colors based on the granite that I had already installed.  Lisa is an artist with an eye for color and design.  She custom paints furniture and other specialty wall coverings.  I highly recommend Lisa for custom painting projects!

The company was great. Rick is a true professional and did an amazing job painting my kitchen cabinets. He didn't just paint. They took the door and drawer fronts back to the shop where they sanded and spray painted with a cabinet grade epoxy. Then they also painted the frames and installed onsite. The process takes 3-4 weeks, but in the end we have what looks like new kitchen cabinets. Rick also is going to refinish a dresser for me and gave me a fantastic deal because I was doing the kitchen. Rick and his helper were great and I had no issues leaving them in my home while I was at work. I HIGHLY recommend this company if you are looking to refinish your kitchen cabinets or other furniture.

My chairs are not priceless antiques but they have family associations and are important to me.  Two black painted Hitchcock chairs had white paint adhering to the backs from being pushed against a painted wall (no chair rail).  Also white spots from a previous wall paint job.  The victorian chair belonged to my grandmother, and my aunt (now deceased) did the needlepoint cover, so I wanted to reuse it if possible.  I don't know who the workman was but s/he did a wonderful job.  The victorian chair no longer wobbles or comes apart in your hands, and the two Hitchcocks are almost like new.  Paint was matched perfectly.  I will use them again and I would recommend them to anyone.  Maybe a bit pricey but if you care about your pieces it's worth it.

Mr. Delgado did an outstanding job repairing and stripping an antique china closet.  It had several layers of paint and the top was broken.  He did an excellent job we were stunned by the transformation.  He also stripped and refinished an antique wall mirror that had been painted black.  The wood underneath is beautiful and we are so pleased.  We are going to use his services again.refinished

He painted with an organic, linseed oil-based paint and we loved the color. The dining table had to be dismantled and removed from our house so he could do the re-surfacing in his workshop, and he took great care to make sure it was transported safely. He was very pleasant, responsive and professional throughout, and we would not hesitate to use him again.

I got this item for a bargain at a second hand store. It was made in England in the 1920's. Someone painted it pink! Metropolitan stripped and re-finished the cabinet. Looked brand new when it came back to me. Pricing was fair for the excellent work done.

We purchased a good quality set of kitchen cabinets 21 years ago, originally painted a buff color.  After 21 years of use they were showing some wear.  The water damaged paint below the sink was our biggest concern.  It had begun to flake off and chip.  The cabinets are very much still in style and replacing them was not an option.  I searched on Angie's List for someone who refinished cabinets rather than refaced them.  Believe me, there are very few refinishers out there.  I did not want them painted with a brush or roller.  Rick of Refinishing Express removes anything that can be removed to take it back to his shop where the rough edges are sanded.  The cabinet frames that had to remain in the house were also prepped for painting.  Using an epoxy paint that matched perfectly and a sprayer the job was completed.  Everything was back in place in about 3-4 weeks.  I cannot recommend Rick highly enough.  The quality of his workmanship and his overall thorough, detailed approach made me realize I was in good hands.  He is the best!

WE GAVE MELVIN A REALLY DIFFICULT JOB. WE KNEW IT WOULD TAKE ALOT OF TIME TO REMOVE ALL THE PAINT AND LIKELY HAD TO BE DONE BY HAND. THE PAINT REMOVAL WAS DONE PRETTY WELL, NO REAL GOUGES OR LOSS OF THE CARVING DETAILS. HOWEVER, THE REFINISHING LOOKED TO BE REALLY RUSHED. WE GOT IT BACK STILL WET AND THEY HAD THE SCREEN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.

My parents downsized and gave us the bed my daughter used at their house. I think the move was one deconstruction/reconstruction too many for the bed. It was a late 19th C - early 20th C antique. The rails hooked on to the head and foot rests and the wood was cracking where the connection occurs. Also, the hardware was not in great shape and the bed made a horrible squeaking noise every time she rolled over. But my daughter really loved the bed - we were planning on painting it. Then it collapsed in the night with her in it. The next day I called Pro Furniture Doctor. They came right away and told me the bed could be fixed. They asked if I wanted it refinished and I told them we were planning on painting the bed when warmer weather arrived. They gave me some painting tips, but I ended up asking them to paint it while they had it in for repair. I am SO GLAD I DID! I ordered a paint sample from the manufacturer of the dresser in my daughter's room. The furniture doctor drove back to my house to collect the sample, matched the paint, and the end result is just beautiful. It looks like both a brand new bed and a cherished family heirloom at the same time. I simply could not be happier with the result, they really went the extra mile to stay in touch, to come by my house at short notice and to work with my schedule for the initial consult and the final delivery. I am already looking around to see what else needs sprucing up because they really worked a miracle on that bed. Thank you furniture doctor!

Extremely well. Prompt communications throughout. Reasonable cost and excellent results. He even found and gave me an antique key to fit the secretary. As these were family pieces, I'm thrilled to be able to use them every day and for them look very nice in my home.

AFURNITURE MEDIC by Karen
Contacted Furniture Medic via email including pictures of the damage to the painted finish cabinet top.  An appointment was made in short order.  Eric was a little delayed arriving on time that day, but contacted me TWICE at each half hour to report his status - so I was not left hanging or waiting without knowledge of his whereabouts.  When Eric arrived he quickly ascertained the status of the damage and his course of repair action and quickly got to work.  He did a really great job of making the repair which included painting and distressing the damaged area to match the distressed finish of the piece.  Prior to the work being done, I had serious reservations about how anyone would go about making an acceptable repair due to the type of finish on the cabinet and the complexity of working with a painted and distressed finish.  Well, I will tell you I was VERY pleased with the result and will not hesitate to call Furniture Medic again should I ever need any repair work done to my furniture or cabinetry.  Furniture Medic by Karen was yet another great find on Angie's List!

AFURNITURE MEDIC by Karen
The cabinets turned out beautifully!  Furniture Medic picked a paint color that went perfectly with the granite, appliance and wall color. They were professional, punctual, responded quickly to all my phone calls and emails, were thorough and their prices were reasonable. They also made additional home improvement recommendations that made the overall renovation look even better than originally planned.

We brought the dressers in approximately 4 weeks ago. The dressers were in pretty bad shape---I had painted the wood some years ago and Haridi, the store owner, was able to show us that he could easily strip the paint and showed the beautiful wood underneath. One of the dressers was my great grandmother's from the early 1900's with a beautiful beveled mirror. Great care was taken in bringing in the dressers into the shop, and approximately 2 weeks later my husband and I came in to see the stripped down and sanded dressers. They looked so beautiful in their natural state! Then Haridi showed us what the different stains looked like on the dressers and let us pick the ones we wanted (mahagony for the chest or drawers, and walnut for the vanity with mirror). Haridi even found handles (something I haven't found in years) for the vanity. He works miracles with furniture! And Haridi's staff are very hard workers who did beautiful work on the sandind and staining. The finished products are just gorgeous and we couldn't be happier! Very much worth the $1500 . We would suggest anyone who needs furniture restored to trust it to Antique and Furniture Restoration in Sterling, VA.

I purchased an old mahogany china cabinet off of Craigslist that was the perfect size for our dining room but didn't quite fit in with our other furniture (and had a number of dings and scratches).  I searched on Angie's List for someone who might be able to refinish and paint the cabinet, as well as replace the hardware. I am so glad I reached out to Rusty.  His quote was one of the more reasonable I received, and the price included pick up and delivery.  Rusty did an incredible job (I have received so many compliments on the finished cabinet) and really went above and beyond.  When I was debating between two color selections, Rusty actually took the time to paint and deliver two samples to my home, so I could decide.  He was also similarly flexible in picking up the hardware I selected. I should add that the delivery team was also exceptional, showing up on time for both pick up and delivery, and working quickly while taking great care with this (very heavy) piece. I have already recommended Rusty to some friends and family who have expressed an interest in "repurposing" or refinishing old furniture, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his business to anyone else!

Lisa Marie and her colleague Monica did an amazing job and made the dresser I wanted updated to look exactly as I hoped! Lisa Marie was very responsive and we went back and forth about my vision for the dresser, which I wanted both painted and structurally changed. I wanted the dresser raised by 4 inches so that I could also use it as a changing table for the nursery. Lisa Marie and Monica created a new wood base for the dresser that raised its height, but looked like it was part of the original piece of furniture - I was so pleased with how it turned out! I wanted to stay true to the original design/style of the piece and they did exactly that. I was very appreciative of how much they consulted me to ensure that they were staying true to my vision of the piece as they did the work, and also came up with great suggestions as we went through the process as they are the experts and their advice was key to getting to the right place. They have a deep expertise in furniture painting and build, so their input was extremely helpful and made sure we ended up with a final product that looked great. Lisa Marie is excellent at furniture painting, new the best paint/material to get the look I wanted for the most reasonable cost, and was very helpful on pinpointing the right color for the space.  Once I had the color picked out, Lisa Marie handled purchasing the paint, etc, which was very convenient. She also came and did the painting at my house which was great for me as I did not need to lug the dresser anywhere or pick it up afterwards. Lisa Marie is also a very friendly, fun person to work with and is great at offering advice when needed but also deferring to client to make sure it is their vision that is executed. Overall, a fantastic experience and I will definitely work with Lisa Marie and her team again!

Recent Review: Pascal did a wonderful job of refinishing our tables. They had been spray painted black and papers had adhered to the finish. He removed all the old paint and restained the pieces back to a natural wood finish. The wood grain is beautiful and the pieces are now a centerpiece for our room. The work was timely, well explained and reasonable, and great care was taken with our tables. I would highly recommend his services to anyone needing furniture refinishing.
