Wise Guys Roofing & Siding
Recent Review: Avoid these guys at all costs.  After two weeks of working and not even being close to finishing they walked off the job and never returned nor did they return my deposit or will respond to my calls or texts.  Taking someones money and not finishing a job is about as low as a contractor can get.  I dealt with Christian who I think must be in charge of the company now.  When I call the main number I used to get him but now he ignores my calls and texts.  I made it clear that I needed the work done right away and if they couldn't I would have to do it myself.  Christian checked and said they could start the next day.  They showed up at 11am. When I returned later that day there was one guy working and had next to nothing completed.  Again the next day one guy showed up by himself at 1030 or so.  He was  nice enough guy but didn't actually work for Wise Guys.  They were trying to make a quick buck and sub the work out to another company.  After several days and very little progress I complained and asked for more guys to come the next day.  Christian blamed it on me because he didn't buy the materials.  This was just him trying to make excuses.  I am a contractor as well and all the materials were there and correct.  That's besides the point because there was no one there to even put the materials up.  They took the next several days off all the while I'm gettign fined $10 a day.  After two weeks Christian came and said it would be done in two days.  They removed trim one day and didn't replace, leaving the plywood exposed to storms that came through.  Most of the work that they did do has to be removed and redone.  Some miters are 3/4" wide and filled with caulk.  Some are that wide and not even filled.  The trim is composite with one side textured and one side flat.  They put the textured side out when nothing on my house has textured trim.  then they flipped a couple pieces to flat so some of my trim is textured side out and some is flat.  They left for lunch one day right before a storm which came through and blew their canopy over breaking my lamp out front and hitting my wifes car.  Not even an apology and they did not fix the lamp.  After 3 weeks they walked off the job, leaving my house exposed. Didn't even put back up the trim that they had removed.  I've tried calling, texting, emails, and nothing.  These guys are the worst kind of contractor.  My trim still isn't complete because of serious health issue with a family member we don't have enough money to pay someone to finish unless they return the deposit.  I've now been fined over $300 because of these guys.  They are an absolute joke.  DO NOT HIRE THEM.  They are a joke and as dishonest as they come.

Diamond Renovations
Recent Review: Flat roof was installed improperly. Although they are called flat roofs, there is always a slight incline on a flat roof so that water will run off. (1/8th inch of slope per foot). The roof is absolutely flat or inclines towards the center of the roof or towards the house depending on where you place your level. Also, there is a lip around the enitre outside edge of the roof that is 1/2 inch high. This means that before any water will start to run off the roof, it has to be more than 1/2 inch deep. It also means that after any significant rainfall, 1/2 inch of  water is just sitting on the entire roof surface until it has opportunity to evaporate. It is a certain recipe for drastically shortening the life of the roof and is an open invitation to add water damage to your home. The contractor has known about the issues with the flat roof since March 21, 2012 and has yet to remedy the deficiencies. The structure supporting the flat roof was also replaced and azec trim was added. The workmanship on this area (our front porch) is hideous. The installer used the wrong fasteners (is supposed to have a full round head, not the tiny finish nails) and also used way to many fasteners. If you check the azec web page you'll see that the company directs that "2 fasteners are to be used for every framing member when installing a trim piece that is 8 inches wide". On one piece of trim on our porch that is 10 inches square, there are 18 fasteners!!! And the rest of the porch reflects the same installation technique. It's a sick mess. One of the major selling points of the azec product is that you don't have to paint it. My wife and I were counting on this feature. But  because of the unbelievable amount of nail holes throughout the entire structure, the only way the porch would begin to look professionally finished is to paint and, in so doing, cover up the absolute mess left behind by the day workers hired by Diamond renovations.I have asked for these issues to be addressed. The contractor refuses to do anything. After two unsuccessful attempts to install french doors opening to the deck behind our house, the contractor abandoned the project, refusing to complete the work. The first installer did such a poor job, that after the passage of 2 hours of time, the doors were essentially "walls with attached doorknobs".   ie the doors were so racked we couldn't open or close them. That installer was fired and a second installer was sent out, who said to me during the middle of the job that he couldn't understand the directions for installing the doors. The contractor referred to this installer as a "Master Carpenter"? He made so many mistakes in measuring and cutting that neither set of accompanying storm doors could be installed. (ie we now had to order replacement parts) He also damaged the doors so that two panels and many parts of said doors have to be replaced. He also installed spray insulation foam around the doors that now must be removed because the foam never stops expanding and it voids the warranty on the doors. As I said before, the contractor abandoned this project. There are also numerous punch out items for the roof and siding that have yet to be addressed and it has been months and months since the contractor has been on the site. As for the quality of the install on the roof and siding, only time will tell. It's been a very painful learning experience, (and it's far from over). Please don't make the same mistake. The service date above only reflects the last email sent. We have been struggling with this contractor since the fall of 2010. Also the only other review for this contractor on this list (atleast when I last checked) was submitted by the contractor and is a false postive. (read it...you'll be able to read inbetween the lines)

Keith Roofing
Award 2017Super Service Award
Recent Review: From project beginning to end, Keith and Company demonstrated an exceptionally high level of professionalism. For example, Mr. Keith spent a considerable amount of time taking "before" and "after" photos of the roof. He then used these photos to discuss and patiently explain his estimate, the scope of work required, the materials recommended, and finally, the end result. I could not have been more pleased with the entire process! In accordance with the contract, Keith and Company prepped all areas where indicated on both my front porch and the main flat roof. The workmen then installed new modified Bitumen rubber across the entire flashing of the front porch where it joins the front wall of my home. They also installed new rubber on the vents, on the main roof vent flashings, and around the entire skylight and other areas where needed. Without question, I highly recommend Keith and Company Roofing!

MacKay Home Improvements
Award 2017Super Service Award
Recent Review: Mr. Mackay has been doing work in Manor Park for a long time, and his work was recommended by both new and old neighbors. The work was done well and we appreciated the communication as well as before/after photos of the work. We were pleased with the honest and professional assessment of what work needed to be done, specifically that a small amount of preventative work could extend the life of our roof without the need for replacement at this time.

Hoover Roofing LLC
Award 2017Super Service Award
Recent Review: First, Don Hoover was very responsive on scheduling and we worked out a good time for him to come before work on a weekday. I first showed him where the leak was inside and then we went up onto the roof (I wanted to go up). I had not told him we have solar panels, but this was no issue when we got up there. He quickly identified a number of areas (e.g., open nail holes in the old shingles of the ornamental cupola, broken shingle areas, areas around the raised barriers between ours and neighbor's roof, etc.) that alone/in combo could be a leak source. He then worked for about an hour (maybe more or less), told me he was done, and we went back up to see what he had done, which he explained (a fair amount of re-sealing, etc., in the various areas and a few other things). So far as I can tell, we've not had any further leaking since.

AAmerican Home Contractors Inc...
The technician arrived on schedule and was very courteous. He inquired about the problem we were having and listened to our concerns about the roof. He advised me that American Contractors does not work on flat roofs. Since I did not know this I was extremely disappointed that I was not made aware of this and that he was not told he was coming to look at a flat roof. The technician realized that I was extremely dismayed and offered to go on the roof to see what condition the roof was in. After checking the roof, he agreed to make a small repair but advised me that the roof needs more extensive repairs by a flat roof specialist. I accepted his offer to help even though he admitted he was not a flat roof specialist. After he had completed the small repair, I paid the amount due and thanked him for his services and advice. The technician was what I would call "a nice guy", and I realized that it was not his fault he was not told that I had a flat roof! Obviously, the error was made at another level.

ACorley Roofing & Sheet Metal Co Inc...
After getting 3 estimates for my leaking flat porch roof, I decided to work with Corley Roofing. Their estimate was very reasonable and more importantly their 5-year warranty could not be beat. Josh was an excellent. He was very responsive to my emails and phone calls and followed through with his promises. The work was completed on time and without fuss. The foreman took the time to show me everything they did and answer my questions. I found them to be professional and easy to work with. I highly recommend Corley Roofing.

ACertified Inc...
Two weeks after moving into a new home, we discovered, after a heavy rain, that we had a leak in an older flat roof over a bedroom. Tom was extremely responsive and helpful, and even though they don't do roofing repairs (only full replacements), Tom sent his foreman over to patch our roof as an emergency short-term fix while we looked into options for having the old roof replaced with a TPC membrane. There have been heavy rains in the meantime, and the temporary patch has saved us from taking on more water and causing further damage to drywall and floors. We were impressed by Certified's professionalism and responsiveness, and we would have hired them to do the full roof replacement, but they had a 2-3 week backlog due to all the rainy weather, and we needed the work done sooner than that.

It was not the cheapest, but they were willing to negotiate and most importantly kept to the contracted price. Tom Keehn the owner was very hands on and friendly. Victor the foreman was easy to work with and very good in communicating all that's going on, once the job got going. They brought in extra help as needed, and that was appreciated.
