Victor came to do the cleaning; he worked very hard. I wasn't happy that he dumped the cleaning fluid down the toilet. He took a long time and I had to leave before he finished. When I got home, Victor and one curtain was gone and he hadn't finished all of the work. I called Michael and learned that one of the curtains was badly damaged and that Victor would come at my convenience to finish. He did come back with the damaged curtain. I asked him about the fluid down the toilet and he said it wasn't toxic, though it sure did smell bad. I had to arrange for a visit from Michael to come see the damaged curtain. While sending the message that the problem was that the curtains were silk and should not have been cleaned, Michael was very insistent that they would replace all of the curtains, that they would take responsibility and make it right. He brought lots of fabric swatchs for me to chose from; he left them so we could take our time. I suggested they try to sew the curtain and they did but it didn't look very good. He offered to give us our check back, but since the curtains were only about a third of the job, and only one was damaged, and he assured me he would replace all of the curtains since the fabric was discontinued, I went ahead and let him keep and cash the check. I had to arrange another visit for Michael to measure, which took a while since we travel. It was sort of a weird visit - he was very chatty and a bit touchy/feelie. After measuring, he was supposed to get back to us when they were ready. I waited a few weeks and called for an update and left a message. I've called and emailed many times over the last few weeks. We never head from him again. He no longer seems to have a office assistant. No one ever answers the phones. I have to say that I was very surprised - I thought that he might have been sick or hit by car; Michael seemed to be a nice person and he seemed very committed to making it right.

It went very well!  Minor delay at the start as they had trouble finding my condo unit, but can't fault them for that.  After that, everything went great, they put me at ease (I was nervous about electronics, and about having them work around some incomplete remodeling in one area), and they stayed a half hour over the allotted 2 hours (4 hour service = 2 people for 2 hours, so a half hour over is like one hour extra free!).  Technically, they didn't get everything (some dust in the chandelier I noticed, and they didn't clean the shower curtain liner (the plastic sheet on the inside of the curtain)…but not sure if that's normal anyway) but considering how much they accomplished in my practically-never-cleaned 1200sq-ft 2bed/2bath home, I was amazed.  Last comment - I'm not sure if tipping maids is common or not, but I literally had to catch them outside to give them each something for their extra efforts as they were leaving.

I was given contact information for Abstract Decor, also doing business as On-Site Drapery and Shade Cleaning, by Hunter Douglas. I have a Hunter Douglas specialty window treatment in my home that requires delicate, on-site cleaning by trained technicians. I called a couple of companies to get quotes for the cleaning. Michael from On-Site/Abstract Decor seemed knowledgeable about the cleaning process and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. I was not quite ready to have the cleaning done, and Michael followed up with me at reasonable intervals to see if I wanted to schedule the cleaning. Several weeks later, I was ready to move forward and was then in the process of getting quotes for new window treatments. Because Michael did window treatments as well, I asked him to come to my home to give me a quote. He did so, arriving perhaps 1.5-2 hours late because of his mix-up in appointment times. He did call that morning to ask if he could arrive late. I was impressed with how well he listened to my needs, though the appointment dragged on and on. By the time he left, what was supposed to be 1-2 hours had consumed my entire morning. I felt comfortable with his window treatment recommendations and he said he would have the quote to me within 2-3 days. A week later, I was still waiting for the quote. When I was finally able to get in touch with him, he said that he had sent the quote but that his system must not have delivered it to my e-mail. He sent me the quote that day. Unfortunately, the quote was not correct and I had to go back and forth with him to correct it. Also, an upgrade I was considering turned out to cost about twice as much as he had estimated when he was at my home--quite a significant difference. By the time I received the quote back, I was leaving on a trip and shortly after I returned I had to deal with a flood in my home, so I didn't get back to Michael right away. A couple weeks later, when I was ready to move forward with the blind cleaning (but not the new window treatments), I called to schedule an appointment. Michael called me on the morning of the appointment to say that his installer had been injured and could not make it. Michael said that he would call back to re-schedule. I haven't heard from him since. I have called numerous times and have never received a response. At this point I am glad that he never performed any work, so that I didn't get into a situation like others have described here on Angie's List. I also checked with the BBB and found a grade of F for this company.
