ABright Construction Group
Bright has now worked three separate jobs at my home. First, through a different contractor, they did the foundation on our home extension. Second was an accessible paver walkway that was meticulously crafted and last but not least was the flagstone patio in an area that was almost unusable in recent years because it accumulated rain run off. Under the patio they constructed a drainage system that I am thrilled to say works beautifully. Their advice, guidance and knowledge was evident throughout. It was a pleasure working with the Bright Construction Group. They are my “go to” folks!“

AAmerican Exteriors & Masonry
American Exteriors more than met our expectations.  We had three firms come out and give us proposals for turning our side yard into a patio.  American Exteriors was the most thorough and professional.  They helped us select the type of patio, gave us a design for the curved retaining wall. They offered a wide selection of materials and colors for us to choose from.  They also offered the best price.  Carmen and his crew arrived when they said they would, did an excellent job cutting and laying the pavers and constructing the retaining wall,  Along the way the crew consulted us about details and were very courteous and professional. They finished ahead of schedule, cleaned up all of the excess materials and trash and reseeded an area of the common lawn that saw heavy wheelbarrow traffic during the construction.  We are extremely pleased with their work and are enjoying our patio.

We are extremely happy with Elder and his team. The patios, the sitting walls and the walkway are beautiful!!!! Elder and his team were terrific and very professional. They worked hard and finished the job as scheduled. It is difficult to have a 40x40ft patio with the land that sloped down, but they came up with a brilliant idea to make it worked. Elder went over and beyond to help us with the design that we wanted. We have had many contractors doing works for us before but NO ONE can beat Elder and his team on price, skills and quality! .. Can't wait to show off our patios!!! Will definitely use Elder and his company for any future projects.

AA-1 CONCRETE LEVELING
It was a great experience. Got the estimate and had to hold off for a bit, but once we were ready, they were out within a week. What a great product. Save a lot of money not having to break up the existing slab and repour it.

FMcCarthy and Son Construction
Received a flyer and contacted Patrick for a consultation. We had architecture drawings and permits already pulled for the work we wanted completed and merely wanted them to execute the plan. Patrick said it was not a problem. He started demolition of the front (main) steps the next day, even though no one was home. The yard was a total mess, with concrete and debris all over. They didn't seek any consultation from us, but ran full speed ahead and built out the stairs and poured the concrete without ensuring the dimensions, resulting in them having to pour a concrete ramp up to the bottom step in order to meet code and our requirements. Then Patrick came back and started pushing us on additional work, quoting a "deal" to paint the exterior and resurface the back patio. These jobs were started before the front steps were completed, with attending mess and slop all over the yard, including leaving a 20 foot ladder up against the 2nd floor bedroom window all weekend!!! The patio resurfacing was so bad, the new surface started flaking off and cracking in 24 hours. The exterior pain job was attempted, but is incomplete, with patches of uncovered brick and a chimney unpainted at the top. Many unanswered calls later, James, the owner called me to say I was "demanding" and Intense and he wasn't going to put up with me. He admitted that Patrick had underbid the job, they couldn't make a profit on it, and I could sue him in small claims court, but he wasn't coming back. They took the money and ran, leaving us with unfinished work and now needing another contractor to fix their mess. Shameful! Unprofessional! Awful!

AA-1 CONCRETE LEVELING
Called for an estimate and the owner, Mark Howley, happened to be nearby and came over within 20 min. He provided an estimate and described the leveling process. When the work was scheduled the 2 man crew arrived on time, were courteous and professional, and did a thorough job. They took their time ( 6 hrs.) and did it right. The clean up was also excellent. I can highly recommend A-1 Concrete Leveling.

Great job, professionally done. Work was within estimate and they even did a bit more than what was included in the estimate for the same price. I've now decided to use them again to level our front walk way.

F1 Element LLC
1 Element is an attempt by Charles "Chad" Black to re-invent himself and "launder" his company (formerly operating as Virginia Gardens & Hardscapes (VGH) and a more recent name change and fail as Schwartz Industries. They won our business with a low quote, professional act, & pictures (their website & binder shown to us) of magnificent work (not likely theirs) completed on grand estates. The son (front man) played nice/professional until I signed the contract & paid half up front. After that, it was a nightmare. They claimed the project would be done in abt. 1 month but 5 months later, it wasn’t (never was). Random workers haphazardly appeared on site with little/no supervision & no necessary permits were acquired. All work needs to be torn out & redone. Independent engineers/county inspectors agree it’s the worst they’ve seen. These guys are concrete pourers masquerading as a professional landscaping company (regardless of the tale on the website). Month 1 of our project ended with little progress & then they announced a name change to Schwartz Industries. Concerning b/c: a) our contract & supposed lifetime warranty on the work was with VGH, b) why use Schwartz if real name is Black? Clearly an attempt to “launder” the old name due to # of prior upset clients/poor work. We had to chase after them for months for legal docs to prove our contract & warranty would stay valid. Polite inquires about project details, timelines, etc were met with hostile, un-businesslike response (bullying tantrum) from Charles Jr./Chad stating that we did not have the right to ask questions. This treatment evolved into hot-cold-hot-cold, game playing. The father took over as POC to attempt damage control but things did not improve. Son contacted us to admit he had forgotten a small, critical retaining wall in his design but demanded $1,200+ to correct it. When we protested, he used terror tactics and threatened to remove all workers/equipment & leave the huge mess until he felt like returning & at an even steeper financial penalty. We threw them half the money to get work moving again but this just reinforced their belief we were suckers and the games continued. Instead of proper patio top flagstone cheap, thin veneer stone (normally used for walls/indoor applications) was very sloppily layed (with huge, inconsistent spacing) further ignoring our requests & clear instructions provided early on. Repeated pleas for the spacing to at least be corrected, shakedown #2 came – tried to charge us a huge amt. to pull up & correct all the stonework they did wrong. We protested and they just moved forward, setting them permanently in concrete weather we liked it or not (but not even done right-all loose) Finally, sloppy (not to code) set of steps made of cheap, warped, knotty wood slapped onto the deck, refused to meet to walkthrough the project & they just showed up very early one morning, demanded final payment while standing on the still unfinished front steps. I refused to pay until an engineer evaluated the work. We had to contact the police a couple weeks later when they were found trespassing. Pretended to leave when asked to but not trusting them, I doubled back in my car to find their truck backed into driveway with the crew headed into my back yard. When police car pulled up they hurried back to truck and fled. BEWARE! Chad is operating under the new company: 1 element or element - www.my1element.com.

ARenaissance Restoration Inc.
We independently interviewed several contractors to have the repairs done in the back, and consulted with a structural engineer for a paid evaluation.  Renaissance was the one who seemed the most knowledgeable about the structural issues, recognized the need for a consult with a structural engineer, and agreed with all the recommendations of the engineer. They came in higher than most of the quotes, but several were recommending alternative types of repairs that sounded like shortcuts and concerned us. For work execution, it couldn't have been better. They used quality paints, and other parts from what we could tell. We got the sense they were very concerned about doing good work and making sure we were happy. They were extremely quick, efficient, and clean. They left everything really tidy both during the work and after. They were also always around when they said they would be, and would call to ensure we were happy with the progress. They were really willing to work with us before and during the job, providing several estimates and letting us choose only the parts of the job that we wanted done. Finally, the end result was quite nice too, and we were generally happy. They finished the job cleanly, very quickly, at the cost they estimated, and did exactly what we asked for. In short, I wouldn't have any concern about the dependability or quality of the work. The only issue was that the price as a bit higher, but in our case it was worth it for the convenience and confidence in the end product.

AConcrete Jack
I booked the initial consultation online.  Very easy.  The inspector/estimator arrived early and answered all my questions.  He took photos and said that he would confirm that Concrete Jack was a good fit for our repair, and if so, email a quote within a week.  We received the quote three days later.  We, of course, had more questions and the staff of Concrete Jack always responded quickly and courteously.  We were also blessed to be scheduled the week following the return of our signed quote.  They arrived a few minutes early and went right to work.  (It was pretty cold and rainy at times.)  They answered our additional questions and helped us understand everything they were doing.  In under three hours, the area was cleaned up and they were gone, and we had SLOPE on our patio again.  A couple hours later - it POURED.  And not one drop came near the house!  Our sincerest thanks to everyone at Concrete Jack, especially Bob, Tiffany, Karen, Corey, and Curtis!  Thank you so much for the exceptional service! From start to finish, a truly professional experience. We could not be happier with our decision to use Concrete Jack!

FCAPTAIN ROBERT BARRY
Nothing but problems from start to finish. He showed up a week later than date agreed to. Set a price then up-sold job for more work. Cleaned rear patio, then decided he did not want to finish that task (sealing). Leveled front walkway, but broke cement and left large pile of debris in yard. Left both sides of walkway striped of soil. Went back and patched walkway and step, leaving it looking awful. Promised to return to fix damaged work and clean-up mess, but never showed. Ended up charging more than expected.

AM & F Concrete
We moved into a new home last year that had a hand-made front walkway/patio from the previous owner. The old walkway had big pieces of slate stone laid into concrete for a mosaic effect, but the stone pieces were coming up and the walkway itself was unlevel, crumbling and a trip hazard. Josh from M&F Concrete came all the way out to our remote home location and gave me a great quote. He definitely knew what he was talking about and brought up points that other contractors who gave me estimates hadn't even considered. He didn't try to pressure me by upselling into something I didn't want and his price was far better than other quotes I had received. Even better, he was able to squeeze us in to his busy schedule within two weeks! The final product was beautiful and really made the front of our house look 100% better. I would definitely hire M&F again and will when we are ready to build our backyard patio!

CConcrete Jack
I called back in about a month - ready to 'accompadate' them.  They pulled up my record by address and said, "Are you able to make an appointment now?"  I didn't know I was dealing with the Royal family..... Vanessa or Tiffany or Ashley took all my particulars and said someone would get back to me.  Within 48 hours, I received an email telling me the scope of the job I described was not the size they 'travel' to do.  Lots of double talk - translation - We've decided not to provide a on site or cost quote to you. I called the man who signed the email and it was clear that he was encouraged to his opinion and decision by the phone person. So unprofessional, unorganized and unbusiness like.    I am pursuing have the entire patio pulled up and a new foundation and slabs laid. I thought I could save a lot of construction by having the existing slabs re-leveled but Concrete Jack apparently just talks a great service - and doesn't deliver

ADrainage and Erosion Solutions
They did this work in freezing temperatures with high winds.  They worked all day for 2 days straight and they left the place immaculately clean.  I?ve never seen anybody work so hard in such terrible conditions and they were so pleasant the whole time!  I will definitely have them back again to do more work because they were superb.

ADaniel Krienbuehl Contractors Inc
Pre Construction:  Daniel focused on our needs and listened to us.  He worked with us to effectively value engineer the project to fit in our budget by educating us on all the items and how each would effect the end result of the construction. During Construction:  Daniel was on site every day and if needed would meet with us to review the progress and to inform us of coming events.  We were very informed throughout the entire process.  They started the project on time and finished on time and within budget.  They kept our house amazingly clean, especially given the amount of work we had done. Post Construction:  The quality of the construction is excellent and seamlessly flows the existing portions of the house.  Daniel was happy to provide contact information for his suppliers and sub contractors for a couple of items we needed to have done after construction.  Now, 6 months after completion, Daniel remains available and responsive to answer questions and make recommendations. I would absolutely use Daniel again in the future and have recommended him to everyone I know who is in need of contracting services.

AAmerican Professional Chimney & Masonry
From the start I was very impressed with American Professional Chimney & Masonry. Catherine, their manager was so helpful in setting up the appointment and gave me individual attention so that I could meet the estimator at the house at the appointed time. Brian, met me right on time and was very thorough and helpful with his knowledge and opinions about what should be done and also about what didn't need to be done. He really knew his business and was so professional. He knew exactly what to do about every problem that I presented. I had a home inspection report so there was a list of things. My daughter had just purchased the house so we wanted the repairs and/or installations to be excellent.. Brian knew this, so his evaluations reflected this. When I called the office to schedule to get the job done, Marlo, was very nice and remembered me which made me feel like the company was small and family-like. I like that better than these larger machine answering ones. She was very nice and helpful. Brian and Renaldo came and were there early to start the job which was very nice. They got to work right away. The CROWN:  (Existing crown was cracked  allowing water to penetrate)....to fix, they resurfaced cracked cement crown with latex acrylic membraneRAINCAP:....Installed a new stainless steel raincap/animal guard.CORBELL OR CHIMNEY:....Applied mortar to open holes on corbell (forming slope).FLASHING:....Seal the flashing on back side of chimney (it had become unattached)BACKSTEPS:....Grind out and tuckpoint all mortar joints......Re-set any needed brick. (Brought  10 solide red patio bricks) They ended up resetting the complete steps and putting up a little border around part of the flower bed. This was far and beyond what was expected --- a beautiful job. Renaldo worked so hard in the hot sun. I wish he would have taken more water from me. Both Brian and Renaldo did themselves proud on this wonderful brick work which was above and beyond the original estimate and the did a great job and made those steps safe for my family. When my daughter got home and saw it she was so happy and surprised. You guys really  really deserve a superior award for this!!!WINDOW SILL/BACKSIDE OF HOUSE:....Grind out and tuckpoint weak mortar on window sills on left side of house and cracks on back side of house.  Did this on all mortar joints to make sure all were in good shape. BACK CEMENT STEPS:....Parge steps with new cement (including around dryer vent). This made the back cement step coming out each of our 2 back doors look new again. The corners of each were gone or deteriorating. The caulk or whatever was around the dryer vent was so powdery and deteriorated that it was crackled and falling off. Now it looks new. This company and the employees I worked with on this project were a pleasure to work with. Brian and Renaldo was professional, knowledgeable, neat, courteous, thorough, amiable, adept in their trade. They cleaned up as beautifully as they did their work. They did much, much more than they had to do. They were easily the best people I have dealt with. I wish other companies would be like this. Or I wish American Profession Chimney & Masonry did other jobs as well. But they concentrate on the thing they do best. And like Brian said to me, they do that thing : chimney work -- all kinds and masonry work very very well. In my opinion -----the BEST!.
