Purchased lights shaped like raspberries and strawberries in various colors, also multi-twiggy lights. They are really pretty. They sell all kinds of lights for home or business holiday displays.

Arborist Pro and Edwin have been working for my family for 12 years and have been a very important part of our landscaping! Every winter, he puts up a fantastic Christmas display on our trees and house. He always arrives on time, is a skilled communicator, and is easy to work with. We highly recommend him and his team!

They did a very good job.  My only complaint was that instead of $100 which I paid to Angie's, they asked for an additional $100 because the total of my little "twinkle" lights probably added up to over 100 lights.  I guess I hadn't read that in the small print.

*Tree Pruning went well except for when he went to the wrong address and showed up late to my house. *For my Christmas Lights, I got an estimate of $480.00 to install C9 lights on my house with mini lights on my tree, and a wreath. I had to buy my lights which costed over $400.00 dollars. I scheduled installation for Wednesday, November 22. On that day, I texted to see what time he was going to show up. He replied that he could not make it due to a commercial property that he is working on. I agreed to rescheduled to Friday, November 24. He then texted me back later on that evening to reschedule to Saturday, November 25 or Sunday, November 26. I texted back that evening and agreed to Saturday, November 25. I waited all day for him to show up on Saturday till 7:00 pm. He never showed up. I texted him to ask why didn't he show up, and he said he didn't see my text. He then rescheduled for Sunday morning. On Sunday morning at 10:06 am, he texted me and said; "What exactly of the estimate do you want me to do today?" "If it is only the roof, it is not a business for me." "I have a minimum per job." "$300" I was very angry with his text knowing that we not only spent $250 on tree pruning, but were about to spend another $480 on Christmas decorating lights and after all the rescheduling and waiting on a contract that will never show up. I told him not to contact me ever. UNACCEPTABLE CONTRACTOR!!!!!

They were ok until we asked for our property back this year. We couldn't afford them this year so they are literally holding decorations hostage: our personally bought wreaths (8 x $200/piece), 100s of strings of lights ($800-1000), garlands, electrical, holders ($300). We, asked nicely, then begged, then ordered. We even asked to meet them at their storage wear-house so they wouldn't incur travel expenses. And nothing. We filed a police report, Fairfax County dispute report, Better Business report. But the addresses on their websites are false and the owner has MANY aliases: Jeremiah Corbitt, Jay Corbitt, J.W. Corbitt and J. Harris. So if you use this company, never ever pay them until everything is complete. And never ever let them "store your decorations till next year" because if you don't use them again, they steal your property to never be seen again. As you can imagine, our kids are heartbroken that we aren't going to be able to decorate the house for Christmas. Why not pay them until all is complete: cause last year when they took down the lights, they literally yanked them off the 2-3 story high gutters, ripping off the gutter guards. And never came back to fix, even after a dozen emails through January and March.

Put up lights during daytime.  They seem to work at the time; however, a few days later the lights on the hedges went out.  Then the lights on the fence went out.  the lights were put up poorly, hanging in the wrong places and I am unable to open the  gates without moving the string of lights. The connections are done poorly.  I've tried to move them but it is difficult with my condition.  No response from an email sent through Angie's list.

It was fine but the price was pretty high.  They did the job well and they were timely.  The one thing that we asked them was to put the lights across the front of the house but they wanted to be paid more for doing that.  I would not use them for that job because they cost more for that.

They were fabulous.  The roof system is kind a complicated and we have gutters all-round the place; which they cleaned.  They were easy to deal with and show up when they are supposed to.  The price is a medium high, but you get what you pay for.  He is insured and bonded.  They came exactly when they said they would and I will use them again in the future.

It went like clockwork. They came when they said they would and did the job they said they would in a friendly, professional manner. After the new year, I called them to come remove the lights (which they store) and they were out within 2 days. Best experience I've had with Christmas lights. I expect I will use them next year as the customer buys the lights the first year and they reuse them in subsequent years, with the customer paying the labor.

They were very prompt, couurteous, price competitive, good return policy  I purchased battery-operated Christmas decorations.  The arrived on schedule and a very good price.  The offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.  I didn't need it since the description of television was very accurate and the color true.  The service they perfrom is a very precise display of the item, shipping of the item, and customer service related to the item.

This company is horrible.  It shouldn't even be a company as by definition you expect the word "professional" to be contained in at least some aspect of it.   The owner, Frank Jolliff, is rude, belligerent and brings his 6 year old child with him for the client to essentially babysit, thinking it's ok to let him run in, out and around a clients house.   I did my best to be kind and have my daughter play with the little boy but for 8 hours??  Seriously??  Get a sitter!   Originally contracted with company in November of 2011 for the December Holiday season.  Purchased about $3000 in icicle lights for the roof line and a 40" wreath to hang on our balcony.  I supplied the rest.  Everything was about $5500 with labor to NorthernVolts. The icicle lights never worked properly, kept going on and off and were just an embarrassment.  The wreath lights went out, and two fuses kept blowing over and over.  The awful icicle lights were purchased through NorthernVOLTS from Holiday Light Brights and when I insisted on returning them I was told the only thing we could do was exchange them and get a credit for the new light installation the next year (2012). Apparently it was a manufacturer defect so fine, I agreed to the credit and to give Frank one more year.   Before take down in 2011, I paid to have all my holiday lighting including my three christmas trees stored for the year and this past December my brand new boxes came back to me broken.  I was to be charged $1000 for the entire install and take down, with the icicle lights installation being "free".  I paid them the first 50% of $500 to get on the schedule for 12/2.  They showed up in the morning two hours late, with no call and stayed until well past dinner time with me essentially feeding the owners six year son snacks and pizza in my kitchen as the workers finished.  It took them 4 days spaced over a week to do what I've had other companies do in 6 hours.  Our large wreath had somehow become "broken" in storage and another needed to be ordered and the owner would not finish the other work until the wreath came in.  As it turns out, he was at the mercy of his workers "other day jobs" putting me at the mercy of whenever the h*** they could get their act together to come work.  The workers put together our large 11ft Christmas tree incorrectly despite the instructions written in both English and Spanish and despite the sections of the tree clearly marked with A, B, C, D & E.  They jammed A into C and B into E and then D, breaking the connections of my $700 tree purchased just the season before.  When I called the owner fuming after 2 hours of my whole family tugging with WD40 and then reassembling the tree, he just said "Oh man".  No apology, nothing.  Through out the four spaced out days that week I would get very rude texts from the owner who showing up whenever he felt like it would type, "open the garage or we're leaving and I don't know when we'll be back", then other texts "Get out here" and "Where the h*** are you".  Very rude and very unprofessional.  I was held hostage by his schedule.  Frank never had enough extension cords and used all of what i had in the house.  They set all the timers incorrectly so the lights would turn and off in sections all over the house.  They didn't complete the installation according to the contract and eventually just left.  I asked them not to put together my other two christmas trees after what had happened to my 11 foot one but the owner refused to discount the labor cost charged even though those trees were included.  They also didn't put the decorations on the front of our driveway monuments as per the contract.  When time came to take down the decorations, the owner demanded the final payment before even coming to the house and said I somehow now owed him more than what was in the contract!!  His contract specifically states that final payment is due upon completion and no change orders for additional items were ever discussed or completed!!!  I sent him an email pointing out the T's and C's of his contract and have never heard back.  I've since called another company who came today and took everything down and packed it away in under 2 hours. I think the owner was in a serious debt situation and grasping for whatever amount he could wrestle out of me.  Horrible, horrible experience.  Hope to never have anything to do with this company again.

It's kinda tricky because I'm a senior citizen, and I'm a registered nurse. I say that to say that when you send a company out to my house, I like to be respected. And while the company was wonderful, they had at least 1 of the 3 workers, who was not. And I asked, and I spoke right up and I said to the manager, the boss or whatever, the person who was in charge of the project, I said Look one of those guys was disrespectful to me and there was no call for it. So he asked me, well what did he do and I explained to him.   First of all, I greeted them and when I went to make little small talk, one of the guys pretended he didn't understand English, I ignored that for a period and I said well Deloris just have a good job done. When they began to start the work, one of the guys, when I went to tell him what I wanted done at one point, he said to me, something on the order, "I'm not going to do that or I can't do that", the one that doesn't speak English. "I'm the one that's going to be up in the tree." And I'm thinking to myself, why do I need to hear that? I'm paying for the service, not for an attitude from someone who is unhappy with whatever's going on in his life or whatever beef he has with the company. So I reported him. So I think it was within that same week, they sent a different crew and they graciously did everything they were supposed to do. And they said, "Well, Mrs. Sands we're not going to have that guy out again". I said, "not here you won't." Nor my families house, because one part of my family uses them and they are the ones that recommended them to me, not Angie's list. It was just that I had used them as kind of a family thing because my mother in law recommended them. The company itself may be great, the people they send out are kind of not so great. I am not going to let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch, so I will give them a B for professionalism.  I'll give them a B overall, because they fixed the problem, so I have to give them a B because you can see I have a taste in my mouth. The person who walks in with the clipboard, takes all the facts and figures, and says I'm gonna do this and that, you never see them again. And then they send in the bozos that can't speak or won't speak or better off if they don't speak, that's where you're gonna have your problems. It's not the company name, or the person that takes the facts and figures, but the bozos that come in smoking a cigarette. Not just landscapers, but other companies, and I can just speak from my own experience.  He botched up the hollies in the front yard, the one wouldn't speak English. I called immediately about the problem and the way I came across was kind of a red flag and they didn't want to lose business so they responded right away.  I would use them again because I think the problem has been fixed. There was a follow up and feedback and I liked that.

You still want to celebrate, but you do not want the hassle of installing your own exterior Christmas lights. What to do? Hire professionals to put up Christmas lights.

Professional Christmas Lights

Factors affecting the costs of having professional Christmas lights installed on the exterior of your home include:

  • Geography
  • Weather — Expect to pay more for installations after significant snow has fallen
  • Number of stories on your home — With height comes increased risk and cost
  • Complexity of desired lighting scheme — Ask about preplanned packages

Removal costs

  • Landscaping — Expect to pay more for more bushes and trees
  • Lights — Owner-furnished lights cost less than renting lighting packages

Paying for Professional Christmas Lights

Costs vary greatly by region and zip code, but hiring professional lighting services to adorn the exterior of a 1,500-square-foot home with Christmas lights costs, on average, $200 to $400, in a range from $100 to $450.

Angie's List found that many professional services will not accept owner-furnished lighting equipment due to quality control issues.

Hiring A Pro for Christmas Lights Installation Near Me

Book early (September) to avoid disappointment, as the window for installation is narrow (after Halloween but before major snows). Angie's List recommends checking out a prospective company's credentials, since rooftop work could be a liability or void a roofing warranty. Ask about worker fall protection and product warranties on the electrical products they use. Try to get three quotes, read reviews and take a peek at a gallery of finished work.
