AAffordable Pest LLC
Sauli and Devine did a great job with insulation blow-in (if there was a 6-star rating then they'd get it). The upstairs are so much cooler and life is so much better thanks to them. Sauli built a foam-board barrier around the attic opening that keeps insulation from falling out and put in planks to permit safer walking in the attic, secured the end of a duct, and put a cover over a box connected to a ceiling exhaust fan. The attic was hot and the work must've been difficult but the work was done in an excellent manner. Sauli explained things and cleaned up after the work was done. What I like best of all is his ownership of work done -- it was done to his standard of excellence. Sauli's work is what will keep customers coming back to Affordable Pest. Finally, both are very personable professionals who are trusted to be in my home. This may have been the best work ever done in a home that I've owned and it is certainly the best work done in recent memory. Thanks Sauli!

We had purchased their Big Deal for having insultation blown in our attic.  The gentleman who came to the house inspected the attic and stated that we needed a deeper amount of insulation than what was covered in the deal and provided us with the price.  We appreciated that he took the time to educate us about what we really needed so that we weren't stuck having it done over again in the near future.  We were not able to proceed at that time but are still planning on having them complete the service they suggested.

Dan arrived on time as requested, reviewed the job, showed me his insurance, licence, etc. and provided a written estimate. We agreed on the scope of the job and a date (the next day). Dan and his crew arrived on time, performed their service in a timely and spotless fashion, and gave me an inspection. The work was flawless. I'm completely satisfied and would do business again with Dan without hesitation.

Installation went fine, the workers were great, & I'm pretty happy with this company - MUCH happier than with the first company that came to give an estimate. Downsides, though, were communication and price. Kevin Ferguson, owner, came for the estimate on a Sunday (the week before July 4th weekend) & wrote out all steps that would be taken to do the job. I appreciate that. Monday afternoon, I called to say I wanted to go ahead with the work. By Wednesday afternoon, I had heard nothing so I called. Kevin's wife (I'm sorry I don't know her name - I don't hear well & didn't catch it on the phone) said she was having trouble with scheduling and would call me back the next day. It was the 2nd day before she did call to schedule. A few days later, I sent a photo of the side of the house along with measurements to ask if the company could use a window on that side rather than a front window to bring in the insulation hose. Two or 3 days later I called (and got a firm answer), having had no response. Customer service has improved a lot in my lifetime & I'm just accustomed now to prompt call backs. Both Kevin & the first provider who came to estimate the work came up with exactly the same dollar figure ($1,386). Both calculated some particular set of costs to arrive at that estimate. This leaves me wondering if all attic insulators use certain calculations & there's no real competition. The "other guy" offered a better final price but here's why I didn't go with that: He came down more than 25% on the price in about 10 or 15 minutes at my kitchen table - enough to raise anyone's suspicions about his pricing. That sharp a decrease in price left me with little trust - he played me for a fool with his original bid. I noticed he casually, verbally cut the R-value (measuring the effectiveness of the amount of insulation to be installed), stating a lower value as if that's what we'd been talking about all along. The final additional discount he offered was if I'd sign up right then & cancel the appointment I had with Kevin's company for an estimate. Seemed he expected other companies to come in below him, so I said no. He gave me that discount anyway. Further, after he left, I noticed he'd penciled in an even lower R-value on his written bid which he did not mention. No way would I go with that company. I went with Kevin's bid - the same as the "other guy's" starting bid - because he made no attempt to reduce the insulation just to make the job cheaper & he seemed honest to start with & stayed that way. The whole estimating experience leaves me wondering if I've paid too much but I trust Kevin's numbers over that "other guy" (whose review I will write in a minute). The question of whether I'd use this company again is moot given that this is the only attic I expect ever to own. If I did need to insulate another attic, I'd get a couple more bids but I'd definitely include Kevin's company as well.

AMax Insulation
Max Insulation quoted a price to blow in energy-saving cellulose R40 roof insulation and blow in foam sound-muffling insulation along a basement rowhouse wall in Capitol Hill. Both items were done on schedule, on budget, and on scope. There was a bit of cleanup needed after the roof insulation was done, but Mike had it taken care of. He has a good drywall guy who opens trenches in the roof, then closes them back up in a professional way right after installation. I am calling to inquire about another house insulation project today.

DAccurate Insulation
We had a representative from Accurate Insulation come by in the summer shortly after having some AC equipment installed in the attic. The individual examined the area and provided us with a written estimate for both R-38 and R-49 insulation. Due to our schedules, we were unable to have the work done until December. We called to schedule the appointment, and provided the proposal number. As the estimate was almost 6 months old, we double-checked to make sure it was still valid. NOthing had changed in the attic, and the agent said they would honor the estimate. When the team showed up, they looked at the attic and immediately declared that they couldn't do anything in that space because it was too small. They could cut holes in the roof, blow insulation in, and re-seal, but it would be more expensive. We declined and told them that if they couldn't do the work we did not want the service. Two days later they charged our credit card for the estimate amount. They credited the card when we called, but is should never have been charged in the first place.

Everything was great. Anthony came to size up the job and give us an estimate. He gave very clear explanations as to what the work would involve and answered all of my questions. The team of four that came to do the work was professional and friendly. The work itself seems to have been performed extremely well, and the team was careful to contain any mess and left the worksites very clean. They submitted for the Pepco rebate that should cover half the work and sent me an email promptly to let me know to expect the rebate (and what to do if we don't).

Everyone was very professional and accommodating. "Interviewed" multiple insulation companies before choosing USA Insulation to address our almost completely uninsulated attic. The pricing was competitive. We really appreciated their approach to our service needs and various requests/questions. The work was done very well, efficiently and exactly as promised. We are pleased with the results. We recommend USA Insulation to others and would certainly consider them again ourselves for our future insulating needs and/or projects.

AVirginia Home Insulation LLC
My wife and I just purchased a home in Winchester, VA and the home inspector noted that the attic had no baffles, the soffits were blocked and the insulation was insufficient. He also noted there was no attic fan. After reading reviews on google and Angie's List, I contacted Virginia Home Insulation Company on Monday morning and spoke to Anthony who said he could meet me at the house that afternoon. Anthony took me through the attic and explained all the problems very carefully so that I understood them. He prepared his bid and gave me some options to help save money. I voluntarily went with the upgraded R-factor and he told me his crew had an opening on Wednesday. I signed the contract and he and his crew showed up on Wednesday at the time arranged and they were there all day. The crew did a fantastic job and vacuumed and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was complete. The only minor glitch was when the insulation blower broke down. The crew called Anthony who brought out another blower, dismantled and fixed the other one, and then they had two blowers going. The broken blower caused a slight delay in the work but the crew stayed late to make sure the job was complete. This was a potential headache for me when the home inspector pointed it out, and being new to the area, and generally distrustful of contractors, I had no idea who to call. After making the call on Monday, the job, and my worries, were over with by Wednesday evening. I would definitely recommend Virginia Home Insulation Company to anyone needing this type of work done.

AQuality Insulation
On calling this company I did get the answering machine message saying the owner was out of town and wouldn't be taking any new jobs for a few weeks so I sent an email giving my name, number, address and situation hoping to just put myself on the waiting list and have the job done in a month or so. I was surprised to hear from them a day later that while the owner was away, they were still taking jobs and had an opening for that week! I took it and on the day they arrived a little behind schedule but not too late and they were efficient and clean. The job looked great and we could tell a difference that night as we went from less than 3 inches of uneven insulation to 17 inches put down perfectly even. They cleaned up the area outside of the attac access and left no insulation behind and no mess anywhere to be seen. I am very pleased with the job they did.

I was approached by a field agent to get a free estimate, and knew already that I needed to get some work done on my house. I met with Mike Stahl who went through my house to give an estimate for the windows, trim work, gutters, attic insulation and window boxes, which are all things that I've been looking to get completed. I decided to get my attic insulation done with the Solar-Eclipse system with blow in insulation at a higher R level. All of my questions were answered by Mike, who was very knowledgeable. I received a phone call from the field manager and we scheduled a time for the work to be completed. I was told the guys would be here from 8-10am, they arrived more on the 10am side, but got started working quickly after arriving. We had to wait a little bit for the other half of the group to come back from a different job, but while we were waiting the main guy that was working completed going around and caulking the hose bibs and other areas that air could come in. He also went around to install outlet insulators to all exterior walls. The other workers arrived and the new Nest thermostat was installed quickly and we got that setup while the others were working on getting the insulation hoses setup to start blowing in the insulation. Once all the work was completed I was able to check the final product. I am very happy with the work and I look forward to working with Power Home Remodeling Group in the future.
