Recent Review: Couldn't have gone better. A large culvert under my driveway has been blocked for years by debris, restricting flow to a trickle. Jose and his crew dug it out, found that the inlet had been doubled over on itself, and fixed it. Better yet, they built a stone wall surrounding the inlet to channel water down. Water now pours down the stone and we've got a beautiful little water feature. All work was done courteously, professionally, and quickly. I already plan on hiring Jose again. He's great.

AMottern Masonry Design...
We are very pleased with their work and can recommend the firm highly. The Mottern manager was excellent at communications. He kept us informed about their schedule for starting, stopped by in the evening to check project status and told us when to expect completion. The final cost was as we agreed. The Mottern Masonry team of workers was professional and very skilled. They were flexible when I realized the wall needed to be stepped up and down to allow for the line of the hill. In hindsight, I should have asked for more guidance on placement and asked more questions when the crew spray painted the locations early in the project. Overall, the wall, patio and walkway are lovely and work as beautiful additions to our home.

AFirst Impression Hardscapes...
Timing went well. Rain delayed the start of the project a couple of times, but still finished on time.  The team showed up on time daily and worked like crazy all day long.  Finished product looks great.  My yard was pretty torn up from the extensive use of small heavy equipment and for the most part it looks good now.  Just a few minor touches could have made this a perfect experience. All in all I would use them again though.

AThe Hardscape Store...
The job required an entire week to complete a careful installation that has a 5-year warranty. The crew did an excellent job removing the old walls, setting the foundation, excavating for the necessary gravel, drainage pipe, retaining grid and compacted fill, building the wall which involved quite a bit of cutting and fitting, and smoothing the area for grass seed. They used blue tarps to pile the excavated dirt on, so that after completion both the driveway and grass area were clean. The result is a great improvement over the deteriorating brick walls.

AAce Deck & Fence...
We used Ace Deck & Fence initially to replace an existing chain link fence with a 6ft. wood privacy fence in our backyard.  That project went very well so we decided to hire them again to put a stone veneer on our cinder block retaining wall.  The crew was very punctual and began work right away.  They pointed out an issue with the retaining wall leaning out and recommended rebuilding a new wall.  I spoke with Ali (one of the owners) and he worked with us on a fair price for replacing the wall.  The new wall, stone veneer, and capstone turned out better than anticipated.  We now have a nice capstone on our retaining wall that we can use as seating when guest come over.  The hideous cinder block retaining wall is now a nice decorative feature that ties together our stone patio and walkway.

Triton came and provided an estimate as planned.  Their costs were significantly higher than the other 3 providers i interviewed.  and the product being offered was not of the same caliber.  I did not utilize Triton for this job.

AD & D Lawn Service Inc...
You get what you pay for.  D&D Lawn Service was not the cheapest bid I received. However, I believe they were easily the most cost-effective bid, after having worked with them and seeing the quality of their work. I am confident their work will last for many years. I would absolutely hire them again-- I plan to do so. They have earned long-term customers. I work from a home office, and was able to observe D&D employees as they worked. They were at all times professional and hard-working. They clearly take pride in the quality of their work, even when they don't think anyone is watching. David Nordgren, one of the owners (it is a family-owned business) was heavily involved in the work, but even when he wasn't around, the rest of the crew worked carefully and diligently. I originally planned on having a cinder block wall re-coated and repainted. But when they exposed the wall so they could seal it, it was clear the wall was severely compromised. David quickly worked up a new estimate, and they were able to begin the new scope of work immediately. The quality of the rebar-reinforced wall they build is such that I wouldn't be surprised if it outlasted the house.  When areas of the lawn they replaced didn't germinate properly, I didn't have to raise a complaint. David proactively added more Compro, re-seeded and raked those areas, some of them twice. I had paid for a "perfect lawn," and D&D didn't stop until I had one, without me having to complain or comment. Even after I had paid for the work in full, I was surprised to see Daniel Nordgren in my yard one morning over-seeding yet again.  We had a miscommunication about how I wanted the patio edge finished off. The crew was in the middle of bringing fill dirt in to raise the ground level even with the patio when I realized what they were doing and had them stop work. I called David, who was on-site quickly. When I clarified how I wanted a retaining wall and a step down, he realized that he had made an error, and they worked to make things right. I know this cost them a lot of extra work, but they didn't ask for more money, they just took care of it. I could go on. I value quality, professionalism and pride in workmanship. Being able to trust those I work with is important to me. I am willing to pay for those qualities, and I feel that the significant money I spent with D&D was well spent. I was impressed by the workmanship and professionalism of their crew, who has worked for them for many years. They are not "workers," they are professionals. I will absolutely hire these guys again.

DPremium Lawn & Landscape...
This was a horrible experience. Although the project manager was advertised as experienced it ended up that he had little to know experience building retaining walls. The first time the walls were built they were leaning and not straight. They had to tear down and rebuild half the project. They purchased the wrong type of block to make the retaining walls and modified them to work however on areas were you could see both sides of the block walls the back sides look bad. All though everything seemed clear during 2 different walk around of the property and discussions of the project  once it started it was clear the project manager was either forgetful or not paying attention. The first time the job was said to be completed they didn't actually build the walls tall enough and had to come back out to finish yet again. They attempted to nickel and dime a few items which they had previously agreed to. They eventually dropped those charges partly due to the hassle of the entire project. I would never use them again or recommend them. 1 year later some of the blocks at the bottom of the wall were apparently not well situated and are falling out of place even though they were supposedly all glued/cemented together.

CAnthony's Construction Concrete & Masonry Inc...
We had a very large pool renovation so we utilized Angie's List to put together a list of contractors to get estimates from. Victor was very nice and provided a very competitive quote. After receiving estimates from approximately 10 contractors for the concrete portion of the renovation we decided to go with Anthony's Construction and Concrete based on the quote, our impression of Victor, and his rating with both Angie's list and the BBB. The job was performed as quoted and we are pleased with the overall quality and appearance of the work.Victor's crew and foreman Frank were all very pleasant to work with and seemed very knowledgeable about the jobs they were performing. I would highly recommend Victor, Frank, and Anthony's Construction for anyone who has an upcoming concrete project. We will eventually be replacing our driveway and front sidewalk and Anthony's Construction will be my first and very likely only call. *** So as an update. Anthony's Construction claims to have a 5yr Warranty with all of their work however we have several cracks in our pool deck and they have been unresponsive in trying to get these fixed. I first tried to contact Victor around 6/15/15.   -  After not getting a call back I tried calling Victor again on 6/24/15. Victor called me back and said he would be by to take a look at the cracks and let me know when they could be fixed.   - I did not hear from Victor for over a month so I called him back on 9/1/15. Victor called me back later that day and said he would check the weather over the weekend and call me back on Monday 9/7/15. Victor never called me back.   - I called Victor on 11/2/15. No response   - I called Victor on 11/17/15. No response.   - I called Victor on 12/14/15. No response.  I saw a similar review to this but unfortunately I disregarded it because Victor seemed very responsive throughout the process of the quote and getting the work done. Additionally as a part of the original quote Victor said they would use rebar and wire mesh when pouring the concrete which neither was used. If I hadn't shown up before the concrete was poured I would not have known. When I asked Victor about this he claimed that the pool had not been properly grounded so he had to use fiber reinforced concrete rather than rebar or wire mesh. It appears this information was incorrect and there should have either been rebar or wire mesh used which could be the reason we are already having  issues with cracking. Obviously I should have halted the work and consulted another contractor before letting the work proceed.

AHEMAX Construction Services & Landscaping LLC...
I spoke to 3 different contractors about a plan to install a paver patio behind my house.  Over the next few weeks, I began to have a picture of what I wanted, and I decided that Hemax Landscaping was the best choice to do the work. Mr. Henry Cruz is excellent to work with.  He is interested in quality workmanship, and he worked with me on details of the design process.  I asked as many questions as I could think of, and he made adjustments to the plan in response to my requests. Mr. Cruz?s estimate was very organized, each part clearly itemized and priced.  I appreciated that the proposal outlined all general conditions such as that the contractor would arrange for Miss Utility to inspect the site before digging.  The Hemax office staff members are equally helpful and responsive. Mr. Cruz?s crew were very professional, worked very smoothly and quickly.  I wasn?t home very much after the first day, but they followed the specifications I had asked, and it was fun to see the progress each day. I will definitely hire Hemax again if I should decide to do further plans.  I do not consider them cheap, but I felt the price was very reasonable for excellent quality. 9/16/2013, we had a signed contract, which I sent on to the Home Owner's Association for approval. 10/28/2013, I received approval from the HOA, and learned that the HOA had agreed to replace my neighbor's fence on my side in order that my contractor could rebuild the supporting wall. 11/11/2013, Hemax crew (about 5 guys) arrived to begin digging.  HOA contractor came to remove the fence but did not want to remove the fence posts although they were clearly rotting at the base.  Since the HOA contractor was not prepared to do this work, Mr. Cruz had new fence posts brought in, and arranged for his own crew to replace the fence posts that day so the work could continue without delay. He worked with the HOA to get them to agree to cover the cost of the fence posts as well as the rest of the fence.  I was very relieved about this, and so was my neighbor. 11/12/2013, At the start of the second day, the Hemax crew had finished putting up the 3 new fence posts, and most of the cinder block wall was complete.  The property level was graded and the drain pipe was buried. 11/13/2013, At the start of the third day, the cinder block wall was complete, the brick veneer under the sliding glass door was installed, and they had started prepping and leveling the surface for the concrete pavers. 11/14/2013, At the start of the fourth day, the pavers had been installed, the garden bed was installed, and river rocks had been installed around the HVAC unit and in the garden bed.  I requested that the rocks be removed from the garden bed and only be kept around the HVAC. 11/15/2013, At the start of the fifth day, the rocks had been removed from the garden bed and replaced with mulch as I had asked.  Grass sod had been placed at the far end of the patio where the ground had been disturbed to bury the drain pipe and level the property.  Later in the morning, I met with Mr. Cruz to inspect the finished project.

AAmerican Exteriors & Masonry...
We have a fairly steep hill in our small back yard and decided to have a retaining wall built to level out the top of the yard.  We also wanted to have our sidewalk leading into the house bricked over for better aesthetics.  We had several quotes from various masonry contractors.  Carmen came out and gave us a reasonable quote for the retaining wall and sidewalk which was in the ballpark that we were looking to pay.   There was a slight delay due to getting a permit but after starting, the wall was built in less than a week.  The end result is a very nice looking wall that we are very pleased with.  It matches the brick from our house and looks great.  The sidewalk also looks very nice and was completed in 2 days.  Overall, very happy with the results from Carmen's team.
