ANext Day Blinds - Fairfax
They're very prompt. I went to the store and ordered something and delivered it to our house quickly. They just did a great job. I think their blinds are great. We have some other ones that we bought years ago and they're still holding up nicely. They have good products.

FTidy Uppers
I am usually very happy to give a company a glowing review. In the case of “Tidy Uppers”, a cleaning service, I would have been particularly pleased to give the owner, a very young woman who started her own business seven months ago— something to be proud of. However, “Tidy Uppers” needs to learn the importance of admitting errors and taking full responsibility when a job goes wrong. I gave “Tidy Uppers” 16 mini blinds to clean. They took them away from the home for cleaning. All of the blinds were in perfect working order when they picked them up. However, when “Tidy Uppers” returned the blinds, some of them no longer opened or closed because the wands were broken; some blinds no longer extended their full length because of mishandling of the blind cords; and several had parts missing such as plastic end caps for the blinds and plastic clip parts that hold valences in place. “Tidy Uppers” assumed no responsibility for the missing parts or the damaged blinds. Here is an excerpted email quote from the owner of “Tidy Uppers: “I DO NOT take ownership on the condition of the blinds...these issues are not something I can fix— you have to reach out to the company for parts and service”. This has been a very upsetting experience for me. My blinds were handled very carelessly. Man-handling the blinds is the only reason for the problems I encountered. A gentler touch was needed for cleaning my blinds. Parts were lost because of sheer negligence. I will have to take my blinds to a service center that is miles from my home. The online self-repair instructions are too complicated for a layperson. My blinds need professional repairs at my own expense since the lifetime warranty does not include labor, only parts. I do not recommend “Tidy Uppers”. The company is careless with a customer’s personal property and assumes an arrogant, condescending attitude when responding to a problem when good customer service would have been expected.

Several Clips on an 18 ft Valance broke and it almost came down. Called the company based on your recommendation, Brooks came, answered my questions, fixed my problem efficiently and was willing and able to go to my sister’s place, in an adjacent building, to fix a pulley problem. We both have sun exposure and in the summer heat we need to be able to use our blinds. Brooks was punctual and is a very pleasant individual. Job well done!

AMade in The Shade
One of the cords on my shades broke and I just wanted it fixed. Didn't want to get new blinds/shades. Had a hard time finding anyone to just fix the cord until I found "Made in the Shade." It was around $125 to get this restrung which is way cheaper than new shades (mine are top down bottom up shades). They came out the next day to fix (I am in Arlington) and the guy Brooks was excellent. Super polite - covered his shoes - and had my cord fixed in less than 1 hour. The best!

They showed up a little late but their work was awesome and they were very nice. It took 5 hours and they even did extra windows I forgot about to make up for being late.  I would definitely hire them again.

ANext Day Blinds
I had a couple of other people come over but I really liked the demeanor and the questions that Next Day Blinds asked. They listened to me, that's what I really liked. He was asking questions about what I wanted and things I didn't even know were possible. I love my blinds, they're great. They followed up and kept me in contact to tell me exactly when they would be delivered. They gave me lots of information on cleaning the blinds, installing them, and what to expect. I was really pleased with them. I've already told my son that I know who's going to do the window coverings for the house he's purchasing when he gets back to the states from service. There's so much to choose from. It's the way they act. They're not pushy or anything and did a really good job.

Sales staff were friendly and very helpful in explaining options to satisfy our need for pleated shades house-wide. But, once sale is made, you are then dealing with a corporate bureaucracy for installation scheduling (btw, not next day) and problem resolution. We had a minor repair, and it could not be scheduled on a Sat. sooner than four weeks out.

ABLINDS TO GO
The salesman was very helpful. I thought the cost for the blinds was reasonable ($197). The blinds arrived within a few days of the order and were delivered by the installer to our house. The installer used by the company was efficient and charged a reasonable amount ($45) for installation. He even removed some of the old hardware that I had trouble removing without charging extra.

FAbstract Decor
I was given contact information for Abstract Decor, also doing business as On-Site Drapery and Shade Cleaning, by Hunter Douglas. I have a Hunter Douglas specialty window treatment in my home that requires delicate, on-site cleaning by trained technicians. I called a couple of companies to get quotes for the cleaning. Michael from On-Site/Abstract Decor seemed knowledgeable about the cleaning process and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. I was not quite ready to have the cleaning done, and Michael followed up with me at reasonable intervals to see if I wanted to schedule the cleaning. Several weeks later, I was ready to move forward and was then in the process of getting quotes for new window treatments. Because Michael did window treatments as well, I asked him to come to my home to give me a quote. He did so, arriving perhaps 1.5-2 hours late because of his mix-up in appointment times. He did call that morning to ask if he could arrive late. I was impressed with how well he listened to my needs, though the appointment dragged on and on. By the time he left, what was supposed to be 1-2 hours had consumed my entire morning. I felt comfortable with his window treatment recommendations and he said he would have the quote to me within 2-3 days. A week later, I was still waiting for the quote. When I was finally able to get in touch with him, he said that he had sent the quote but that his system must not have delivered it to my e-mail. He sent me the quote that day. Unfortunately, the quote was not correct and I had to go back and forth with him to correct it. Also, an upgrade I was considering turned out to cost about twice as much as he had estimated when he was at my home--quite a significant difference. By the time I received the quote back, I was leaving on a trip and shortly after I returned I had to deal with a flood in my home, so I didn't get back to Michael right away. A couple weeks later, when I was ready to move forward with the blind cleaning (but not the new window treatments), I called to schedule an appointment. Michael called me on the morning of the appointment to say that his installer had been injured and could not make it. Michael said that he would call back to re-schedule. I haven't heard from him since. I have called numerous times and have never received a response. At this point I am glad that he never performed any work, so that I didn't get into a situation like others have described here on Angie's List. I also checked with the BBB and found a grade of F for this company.

FWindow Pros by Terri Fitzgerald
This company changed their tune the second a deposit was placed.  They were unresponsive to calls, completely failed to respond to voicemails, failed to appear to scheduled appointments without any notice or apology and never even completed the job.  The owner, Terry Fitzgerald, will tell you every excuse in the book for her repeated errors and repeatedly failing to service you -- completely wasting your time and never resolving any issues.  She proceeded to tell me that everything is in shambles in her life and that she is under a lot of stress, and while admitting that it has negatively and detrimentally impacted us, she still refused to resolve the problems in a satisfactory manner.  Clearly, she does not have the ability or resources to get any job done well, let alone even just completing, at bare minimum, the work she promised to do. The "professional" installer she refers to is her very young son who does not appear to know what he is doing.  In fact, he visibly tore the paint off two doors, leaving us in a worst off position then when they started the installation.  Broken and/or missing parts, missing items that were claimed to be ordered but never delivered, a repeated failure to show up on time and a monumental inability to complete the job -- they never even finished the installation.  It has been months for what was supposed to be a promised "one day" installation.  This business is disastrous and should not even be operating.

BNext Day Blinds - Fairfax
Very nice company to do business with. However, three different people measured, three different sizes. One set of blinds had to be returned twice. Then I was told what I picked out 1)would never fit the window and 2)what would fit the window did not come in the same color/design as the verticle blinds in the room.|When I finally found something that would fit and did match, if not the same material, I was not told that each of those blinds were over $100 more per window. In order to make up for all the confusion, they offered me one free window. However, when I received my final bill, while the cost of one of the windows was credited to me, I found that the $600+ verticle blinds were billed to me at $900+.|In all fairness, all of this was corrected over time.  My problem is that one hand didn't seem to know what the other was doing. And had I not paid careful attention to the many incorrect bills I received, I would have paid substantially more than what was quoted.|I heard many wonderful things about this company, so I believe my experience was probably an anomaly. But nonetheless, this was my experience.

DAbstract Decor
Victor came to do the cleaning; he worked very hard. I wasn't happy that he dumped the cleaning fluid down the toilet. He took a long time and I had to leave before he finished. When I got home, Victor and one curtain was gone and he hadn't finished all of the work. I called Michael and learned that one of the curtains was badly damaged and that Victor would come at my convenience to finish. He did come back with the damaged curtain. I asked him about the fluid down the toilet and he said it wasn't toxic, though it sure did smell bad. I had to arrange for a visit from Michael to come see the damaged curtain. While sending the message that the problem was that the curtains were silk and should not have been cleaned, Michael was very insistent that they would replace all of the curtains, that they would take responsibility and make it right. He brought lots of fabric swatchs for me to chose from; he left them so we could take our time. I suggested they try to sew the curtain and they did but it didn't look very good. He offered to give us our check back, but since the curtains were only about a third of the job, and only one was damaged, and he assured me he would replace all of the curtains since the fabric was discontinued, I went ahead and let him keep and cash the check. I had to arrange another visit for Michael to measure, which took a while since we travel. It was sort of a weird visit - he was very chatty and a bit touchy/feelie. After measuring, he was supposed to get back to us when they were ready. I waited a few weeks and called for an update and left a message. I've called and emailed many times over the last few weeks. We never head from him again. He no longer seems to have a office assistant. No one ever answers the phones. I have to say that I was very surprised - I thought that he might have been sick or hit by car; Michael seemed to be a nice person and he seemed very committed to making it right.

Everything went better than I expected. They did a very good job and the work went well. When I called them back about a month later because I thought they installed the blinds backwards, they came out and fixed it for me. They never complained or asked me why.

First time around didn't do a good job (Some of it was my miscommunication)(Since we were making plans from a distance )but they came back when I asked them to.. for free ..which I appreciated ...they did do a great job second time around ... She really did care about her business and she really did care about doing the job right once she found out it wasn't quite right... She always answered the phone in person and it was always easy to talk and communicate with her... Price was a little high... Nice ladies!!

AAsh Maids inc
I had thought the "initial cleaning" would be more thorough than a regular cleaning because of the increased price and suggestion that I do it if I hadn't had the place cleaned in a while, but it didn't seem more intense than a regular cleaning. The maids did a very good job and were receptive to instructions (like not moving some papers around, etc.) which was good. I'll use the service again. They were also a few minutes early and stayed for about 1.5 hours.

It was very easy to schedule. Two house cleaners for 3 hours for $195. Idilia and Sonja did a great job. Especially having all the floors vacuumed or mopped, all the blinds and furniture dusted, all the bathrooms cleaned. I definitely recommend.

Oregon Blind & Window Cleaning
Recent Review: I completely forgot to add a review for Lewis (Oregon Blind & Window Cleaning) - He is a great guy that does a fantastic job! We had him clean all the wood blinds in our home a year ago, then decided to start replacing all blinds with fabric. He not only did a GREAT job cleaning the blinds, but was more than competitive on price when it came to replacing the downstairs blinds with fabric (top-down, bottom-up).

Mitchell's Venetian Blind & Shade Co Inc
Recent Review: After years of trying to clean my blinds by hand with little success, I discovered the blind cleaning service at Mitchell's and used it for years. It was easy and affordable and Mitchell's did excellent repairs. I moved and didn't have blinds for some time. New home and I inherited blinds that really needed a good cleaning. I took 9 1-inch blinds into Mitchell's and paid one extra dollar each for same day service. Well worth the cost of not having to come up with alternate window coverings. Service personnel at Mitchell's were very courteous and answered all of my questions and made recommendations. Someone even came to my car to carry the blinds into the shop. Even though I was told that it would probably take all day, my blinds were ready early and I got a courtesy call to pick them up. On pick up, they generously gave me extra tassels, even though they had already replaced the ones on my blinds that were broken. They made sure the blinds and packages were labelled so that I could easily re-install them. They wrap and package the blinds to protect them and make them easy to carry. My blinds look great -- clean blinds have made such a difference to my windows.
