Recent Review: Background: I had never had an "After Market" auto alarm or remote start system before, so all of this was absolutely new to me. After all, I am a highly competent and experienced mechanic and computer wonk, how hard could getting an auto alarm/remote start system be? (My hubris talking.) Thinking I could get more value for my dollar, I bought all of the parts online before looking for or talking to a Viper system alarm installer. This was a big mistake! Unless a factory approved retailer and/or installer sells and installs the Viper system alarm, you lose the Viper's factory lifetime warranty on their parts! Also, the product descriptions on the various Viper components are not particularly illuminating. I spent a lot of time researching which automotive accessory shop could best do the system install; plus I read reader comments/reviews/evaluations of vendors by previous customers wherever possible. Multiple times I read rave reviews for Absolute Electronix services and equipment. Being detail oriented ( my characterization) or obsessive compulsive ( service providers characterization of me), I wanted to have my alarm installation be as invisible and trouble free as possible. I also absolutely did not want to have to deal with installers who really did not know what they were doing. Pre-Installation: So I physically went to Absolute Electronix and talked to the owner (Mr. Alta Ehdaivand) about what parts and services he would suggest for completing my custom alarm installation. Rather than just quote me a starting price, which all of the other custom auto alarm installation companies did, Alta took quite a bit of time to find out EXACTLY what my needs and wants were. Alta went into depth about which Viper components would be best for my particular installation. Additionally, Alta explained in great specificity, how the Viper could be custom programmed to meet my particular specifications. Unfortunately for me, s ome of the Viper components I had purchased on line were the wrong ones and/or did not actually have the features I needed. Alta offered to sell me the components I really needed, or, if I so wished, told me I could buy the parts elsewhere and he would install them. Absolute Electronix quoted me a auto alarm/remote start custom system installation and programming charge of nearly $500. Now, if you were an alarm neophyte like me,that might sound very expensive. But knowing that Absolute's installation fee was flat rate (not subject to many of the Big Box Stores caveat: Installation costs will rise if/when we encounter unforeseen difficulties or problems.), and included a Lifetime Warranty on the installation, Absolute's installation fee turned out to be an absolute (pardon the pun) bargain. Installation: The initial alarm installation took approximately 3 hours and during that time Absolute's installer queried me repeatedly with questions related to how I would actually use the alarm or what were my personal preferences in regard to component placement or tuning. ASIDE: I highly recommend that if and when you have custom services done to your automobile that you either stay in the vendor?s shop or be immediately available by phone until the installation is completed. NOTEWELL: I should add that the Viper auto alarm/remote start system was installed in my older minivan which already had lots of ?Bells and Whistles? factory installed, thereby making my new alarm installation much more difficult that it could have been. Post-Installation: I took my car home and, over the following week or so tried to use all of the auto alarm/remote start system features. What I quickly discovered was: the factory Viper User Guide was unintelligible; the full size alarm key fob operations were not intuitive; and, even though Absolute?s installer had gone over them with me at the end of the initial installation with me, I could not remember how to do most of the ?Multiple Button Press? remote operations. I called Absolute and they offered to walk me through the instructions again at no additional cost. However due to my own severe hearing loss issue and multiple learning difficulties, I requested another in-person training session. Within a few days I was back at Absolute getting my alarm system operation tutoring again. However, this time, I took extensive written notes, so that I did not have to rely upon my Senior Citizen memory. After more than 30 minutes of Absolute's additional training, I felt confident that I could operate the entire alarm system. Follow Up: During the last year I have had several problems with my alarm system ( The vast majority of which were component failures or programming issues, I should add). Upon contacting Absolute I was repeatedly offered quick repair appointment times. Each time, Absolute made the necessary repairs in a/an: highly competent/professional way; were always courteous, honest, and forthright; never embarrassed me when alleged defects turned out to be due to ?User Errors? instead; charged me nothing for installation-related issues. The TLC that Absolute provided after my initial installation could have cost me in excess of the original installation fee, if I had not used Absolute Electronix to install my alarm/remote start system in the first place! Summary: I would not hesitate to recommend Absolute Electronix for anyone?s: alarm system/remote start; radio/sound system; window tinting; automotive interior upgrades; or custom fabrication needs. If a world full of mediocre service providers, Absolute Electronix, their Owner Alta, and Absolute?s installers (Many thanks Mau!) prove that they stand behind their warranty?s 100%. I give Absolute Electronix an "A Plus" rating.
