Recent Review: My experience with Canine Behavioral Services has been absolutely great. I first got in touch with the owner, Brian Manning, after my 2 year old Terrier’s excitement/anxiety escalated to the point where she bit my young nephew. I knew I needed professional help to evaluate and train my dog. I looked into a couple different trainers/behaviorists but after speaking with Brian I knew that he was who I needed to work with. Shortly after speaking with Brian, my husband and I dropped off our dog at his facility for a 6 week in-house rehabilitation program. Throughout my dog’s stay I stayed in touch with Brian at least weekly where I would hear of her progress. Brian was always very honest with his evaluations, recommendations, and training techniques for my dog. It was not always easy to hear, especially because I learned that I was the reason for her lack of respect, but listening to the truth is what I needed to hear. Brian would send pictures through email and post some to his social media pages which helped me while my dog was away. When Brian brought the dog back home he patiently showed my husband, my mother, and me how to change our relationship to one that was more leader/follower based so that my dog would respect us more. At the same time Brian showed us how to keep the dog in a calmer state of mind. Of course there are and will be triggers that will excite her but now we have the tools to calm her back down. My mother who often cares for the dog felt very empowered after learning simple techniques to show the dog that she is the leader. It has been a few months since my dog has been home from her rehabilitation and every day is a work in progress. She is far from being perfect but she is calmer and more stable than she was before her rehab with Brian. We have settled into a new routine way of life with her, which feels normal by now but it is much different than how we used to treat our dog. One of the largest things I learned is that I have to give the dog what she needs - like boundaries, discipline, and exercise, not what I think she (or really us humans) wanted – like tons of affection and being treated like a person. If you have any issue with your dog I would highly recommend Canine Behavioral Services. Brian along with other trainers and his pack of balanced dogs will make a difference. Brian and his staff are professionals and it shows. It will be an investment financially and emotionally but if you follow through you will not be disappointed. But, if you don’t change then you cannot expect your dog to change either. Finally, even months after our official training has ended, I am encouraged to contact Brian with any questions/concerns I may have, and true to his fashion I always receive quick and honest responses.
