    Artisan Building & Design LLC
Hands down a company we would use again. They worked around our work schedules and our new baby schedule. They were flexible when we felt we just couldn't be. We actually met the owner in a restaurant while standing in line to pay. We talked briefly about some project ideas so I contacted a few days later and they came out to estimate. We hired them to do a ton of work in our house and they did a wonderful job. When our budget permits we will call on them again. Again, I want to reiterate there are tons of contractors out there, but these folks are great in our opinion. My only negative thing to say is they sometimes didn't keep the exit door always shut and our dog got out a few times.

The entire process was quick, easy, and painless. Manoli listened to my needs and provided several options in a quote. Payment was simple using Square. From order selection to installation was about 3.5 weeks.

Terrible. Ryan Todd signed the contract, and was paid over $6000.00, and tore off our existing breezeway. He had lumber and concrete bags delivered. After that he did nothing except lie, lie and lie. The lumber has set in the weather for 9 months and the bags of concrete sat in the weather uncovered. All of it ruined. He did not even remove the debris from tearing down the breezeway. He would never call, I had to contact him repeatedly to ask when he was coming to complete the job. He would always say in a couple of weeks, or the city is being difficult about the permit. None of that was true. He used our money to pay for materials for other jobs that he had overextended himself on. He essentially stole my money. The last time I contacted him he said that he was out of business. That is also a lie. He was arrested for disorderly conduct in Randolph County at about that same time. It is a matter of public record. A complaint has been filed with the NC Attorney Generals office, which he has failed to respond to. I hope they will proceed with criminal charges. A civil suit is also in the works. Do not get ripped off by this con artist!

    Sherrill Davis Construction
A major rebuild in which Sherrill showed remarkable design foresight. His subs were prompt, reliable and hard-working. Project was nearly a year in thought, and Sherrill made it all pay off. Garage is solidly constructed, looks beautiful, and more than meets expectations. One mark of an excellent contractor is the ability to visualize the project before hitting the first nail, and Sherrill was right on the mark all the way. The french drain was insightful. High marks all the way around.

WOW!  These guys have done work for us before, but we always do our homework just to be certain we are hiring the right person.  Before we called Tony we talked to other contractors in the area to get advice and estimates.  One of the folks that we called didn't even show up, the other was a blubbering idiot, and the other seemed to know what he was talking about...said that he would require 30% upfront money to get started.  Being disappointed with them all, we finally called Tony.  We should have done so from the start, but we were trying to be "smart" and get several viewpoints as to cost and the necessary work. We knew what we wanted would not be cheap but we didnt want CHEAP either.  We wanted an honest price for honest work.  We got BOTH, once again from Tony.
He took the time to meet with us and find out what we really wanted and put up with us in the beginning with all the decisions we wanted to make (or didn't want to make).  After the final meeting to go over everything he came back to us with a price.  We weren't shocked by what it would cost , but it was only slightly higher than what we budgeted.  That being said, he really educated us on the details of the project and afterward we were satisfied that the price was fair.
The day that work started the crew showed up and started placing protective barriers everywhere to protect the rest of our home that was not being remodeled.  They kept the job clean and neat the entire time, and that meant a lot to us neat freaks.  Our experience with Structures By Design has been incredible throught this complicated remodel project.  Other than great quality work and his job leadership, we have to say that the very best thing was his willingness to openly and honestly communicate with us.  He kept us informed, and was straight with us every step of the way.
Simply, they did what they said they would do.  They under-promised and over-delivered in our opinion.  GREAT JOB overall, and AGAIN, We will call them back for our next project.

    Dutch Barn Dan Inc.
They were very professional the whole time, from the estimate through completion of the job. Our job required getting approval from the city, because we live in a historic district. They were very supportive and prepared all of the materials for the application, and were present at the council meeting where the application was discussed to answer questions by the committee. Their estimates for both the time and cost for completion of the job were spot on, and we are very satisfied with the work.

We explained to Mark the type of shed, what size etc. that we wanted and he drew up a proposal. Mark built us exactly what we wanted from scratch. He included every little detail. He built us a 10 x 12 shed, with 1 window and electrical outlet, barn doors and a ramp. He sided, trimmed it and shingled and it cost less than if we had bought a prefabricated model and had someone come out and put it together. We would have had to level the ground, have the shed delivered, have someone to build it and then have an electrician come out for the outlet. Mark did it all and for less money! I have included a photo of the finished product. Let me mention, that this shed is very solidly built.

    Dutch Barn Dan Inc.
It started when a representative of Dutch Barns came to the house to discuss the project and what options we wanted installed on the garage. We were given a basic estimate that broke down the costs of the basic structure, plus the additional expenses of the extended driveway, septic tank relocation, 12?x12? roof, brick veneer and foundation, thicker block, hurricane straps, electrical (including a 220V outlet), interior and exterior lighting, attic with access, phone line, cable, insulated door, side door, insulation, and drywall. From the outset we were given the option of selecting any sub-contractor we wanted, but aside from the electrical work, we let Dutch Barns select and manage them. Construction began with relocation of the septic tank, then the footings were poured and the foundation was built. We specified 8? block around the foundation even though code only required 4?. The block was set, but they used 4? instead of the 8?, but offered to fix the problem without hesitation. As a result, the garage foundation has 8? block inside 4? block inside brick. The foundation certainly isn?t going anywhere. They then built the structure with a 12? by 12? roof and attic with floor. Brick veneer was attached to the front wall and all around the foundation to match the house. We selected the same electrical and security system contractor which did the house but Dutch Barns still managed the process. We selected the interior lighting and bought the exterior fixtures including motion lights. I painted the interior to save a little money on labor, and the garage was done. They came back about a year later and fixed small warranty items such as ?nail pops? and trim issues, just as any home builder would have done. We had them upgrade our back deck while they were at it, and we plan to eventually use them to finish our basement.
