Psychiatry reviews in Washington DC

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Psychiatric evaluation and consultation was outstanding, insightful and professional; we wished to continue. However, the administrator of the Center was unprofessional and troubling and resulted in our terminating treatment at Center. Issues concerned insurance and an involuntary change of therapist because the intake psychiatrist accepted Medicare elsewhere but could not at the Ross Center. (We had paid cash for the evaluation). The administrator said we had to change to a non-Medicare-receiving staff for treatment in accordance with Ross Center policy. Ross, of course, can have any policy they wish, but it is unprofessional to present this after intake rather than before. Building trust with a new patient is crucial to future work. The psychiatrist could not follow-up in his private practice after the initial work took place at Ross--conflict of interest issue.

  • Dr. Book is an excellent physician. He is thorough, compassionate, reasonable, and skilled. He is one of the best physicians I have ever seen and I highly recommend him. The office staff are all polite, efficient, and patient oriented. Appointments are relatively easy to make and they are very responsive.

  • Dr. Garro is amazing and a total professional. He has gone above and beyond to help both me and my wife. He is empathic, caring, and insightful. All of our sessions have been great, and he also has an extensive network of contacts throughout DC. This review is the least I can do to thank him for his help.

  • Overall I liked Dr. Drell during our sessions, but he knew that it was very difficult for me to get out of work to make the appointments but showed a disregard for my desire to schedule more than one appointment in advance.  I had hoped to set up recurring appointments and never said no or that he didn't do that, he just kept putting me off.  Eventually, I stopped making appointments with him.  Not sure he ever noticed.

  • Her office is in a somewhat nondescript area of a typical downtown office building.  It is secured so a random person cannot enter on a whim, which I liked.  As I was going through my history, she took notes and referenced some other materials for additional lines of questioning.  I filled out a survey in the office describing my past behavior.
At the end of the session, she did not prescribe any medication; however, she gave me information on a medication she was considering and asked that I research it.  I had some other homework as well, which was relevant and not a significant burden to complete.
I came out of the session feeling good.  Dr. Lewis is the first psychiatrist/psychologist/clinical social worker I've ever felt that comfortable with right off the bat.  I think it helped discuss certain things; although, I went in understanding I would need to be totally upfront and honest for any diagnosis or treatment to be effective.
I would definitely recommend her to another person seeking psychiatric care.

  • She is awesome, if anybody needs any kind of counseling or a couple of therapies.  I have an ongoing service with her.  She is dedicated and I like her style of therapy.  It is comfortable, but she is not afraid to ask questions and help me think about things in a way that might still be better.  It was thoughtful.  I can easily get in, but sometimes it takes a couple of days.

  • She has a very low-key approach.  She has animals in her office and I like that.  She’s willing to explain courses of treatment and she is more approachable than she is clinical.

  • The appointment I had in November was over the phone, which was incredibly convenient for me (I live in Northern VA). Dr. Vittone asked questions about my symptoms to gauge how I was doing. He asked about stressors in my life and took some time to give me some great psychiatric advice (my daughter also has depression, and though he doesn't treat children, he's been really helpful several times when we've had questions). We discussed the pros and cons of changing my medications to alleviate side effects.

My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Vittone!

  • I spoke with the staff over the phone and found them to be very friendly and accommodating. I felt at ease right as I walked in. Although Dr Vittone is frequently running behind schedule he is well worth the wait. Once I went in and we discussed my life, I felt instantly better and really felt as though I could trust him with my mental health. When our session was done, I paid, rescheduled and left. Easy peasy.

  • He treats people with chronic pain and also those with depression and such; anything having to do with the brain, really. He is a compassionate doctor and spends a lot of time with his patients. He tries to do whatever he can to help them. The only thing is that sometimes you end up waiting because he gets behind sometimes. I will use him again in the future
    - Faith S.
