Pediatric Care reviews in Washington DC

  • Brilliantly---Dr. Razi got my daughter completely prepared for her surgery.
    More recently, she helped me diagnose my son when my husband and I were having an overreaction based on internet researches.  In a timely phone consult, she helped us determine my son's issue was far less serious than we'd imagined.

  • Dr. Shearin is an experienced pediatrician who has a knack for helping nervous patients feel comfortable during their visit. The nurses and administrative staff are efficient and pleasant, so the overall atmosphere of the office is pretty relaxed, also thanks to the fact that there's natural light and folksy decor everywhere. The place doesn't have the clinical, intimidating feel that the doctors' offices of my childhood often seemed to have. We chose Capitol Medical Group when we moved here last year because many friends (including a friend who's a doctor at GW) bring their kids here and recommended this practice to us.

  • Her staff is awesome. Very knowledgable and friendly. Dr McKnight is just the right amount of crunchy for naturally-minded mamas. And they stamp your parking garage ticket to reduce the fee from $5 to $4. I only wish the decor was a little more inviting to children. Just sort of plain walls, but a small price to pay for great doctor.

  • My wife and I have been fairly happy with the several doctors that we've seen here, but not so happy with billing policies and the front desk. We knew going into it that there were a lot of random fees - a bit of nickel and diming, but we were willing to put up with it. We appreciated the time the doctor seemed to spend with us. Then, after a well visit, we were hit by an unexpected bill. Trying to sort this out with billing resulted in some snappy, short remarks, wondering why we would question a bill.
    Finally we got our answer: we had been charged for some of that previously appreciated time above that was apparently above and beyond a well visit. This was for talking to the doctor about the results of a specialist appointment (thru whom we had already gotten all of the information we needed). Because of the surprising lack of doctors who take our insurance, we stuck with CMG a bit longer, though were nervous at our next appointment as to what might be considered and quot;additional.and quot;
    Then came an allergic reaction to peanuts (obviously having the potential to be very serious). My wife called to find out whether or not we should bring our daughter in, go to the hospital, or if we could give her Benedryl. After explaining that our daughter is having a reaction to peanuts on the phone, she was put on hold for about 5 minutes, then finally told that if it's emergency we should go to the hospital, with no other suggestions or additional information provided beyond that.
    To sum up our experience: good doctors, poor billing and reception, and expect to be nickel and dimed.

  • Kaiser in DC is excellent and meets (exceeds) all my expectations.
    Both Kaiser in general and Dr. Baldwin's office pros: single care facility for all basic needs (primary care doctors, common specialists like allergists and behavioral health, pharmacy, labs); extensive use of web-based interface for communications (set up appointments, see lab results, email doctors who respond within 24 hours); extremely respectful of time (does not take long to connect, appointments almost never late, appointments are efficient); Kaiser pharmacy is inexpensive; some facilities have free parking;
    Cons: none

  • Dr. Ahlstrom has been taking care of my son since I brought him home from FL (where he was adopted) -- so approximately 2 weeks old. He had some health issues (minor) in the beginning and it was determined he had a milk allergy. We were initally going to the Dr almost weekly! Dr. Ahlstrom was (and always is) patient with explaining everything to me about his health. She patiently answers my questions about solid foods, napping, and his eczema. The office has Saturday hours which I have only used once, and also sick appointments throughout the day - which seem to me easy to get. The nurses are friendly and easy to talk to - always remember who we are (by name). The front desk staff always wants to say hello and see how big my little boy is getting. Everyone in the office is wonderful and friendly and patient with all of our questions! I have spoken to the other Drs by phone (in the evening) and they seem very welcoming and nice as well. I would recommend this office to anyone!

  • The office staff was friendly and helpful, and the wait was minimal. Dr. O'Brien was friendly, clearly competent, and answered all my questions easily. After meeting with a number of pediatricians, Dr. O'Brien (et al) was the clear winner, and I feel relieved to have chosen my child's future pediatrician.

  • The entire staff has been very pleasant, knowledgeable, responsive, and respectful to us as new parents. The doctor always returns our calls promptly, even at night and on weekends, and offers answers and peace of mind no matter what we're asking.

  • Dr. de la Croix-Voubois has taken care of my 18 month old twins since birth. She is a wonderful doctor. She is warm, caring, and very knowledgeable. It is a very nice practice. I have spoken with the nurses countless times with various concerns. I have also spoken with the on-call doctor several times, and have seen the other doctors in the practice too. I highly recommend this practice. They have early morning call in hours, Saturday hours, and now an infant waiting room. They also have their own lab.

  • The office staff processed my paperwork and payment quickly.  The office was very neat and clean, with plenty of chairs.  The medical assistant was pleasant.  I was seen very quickly.  Dr. Hossain spent at least 30 minutes with me asking me questions and then eventually doing an exam.  He was polite and very thorough.  He gave me a prescription, ordered blood work and a follow up test.
    When I went back for the test I saw one of his colleagues, because he thought a female physician would make me more comfortable, which it did.  She was good too.  The office was more crowded the second time I went and I waited a little longer, but not an unreasonable amount of time.  She was efficient but friendly.
    I would recommend him and this practice.
