Kelly Goodman NP & Associates, PC
Kelly is no nonsense, very easy to communicate with, thorough, and excellent at her job.  I had always had doctors as primary healthcare providers, until Kelly was recommended to me by a close friend. Kelly has a thriving practice but still makes time for emergencies.  Imagine this:  you call because you need to see a medical professional, and you get an immediate appointment!  I've had both situations with Kelly:  a regular physical, and a short-term need to get emergency stitches removed.  No fuss, no muss.   When I thought I needed a booster shot to protect me from pneumonia (as a lung cancer survivor), Kelly's staff looked into it and told me when my next shot was actually due.  Other recommended vaccinations were readily provided.
Kelly also has a complete roster of MD experts in any areas that she may not be able to tend to herself. Other than my long-term OBGYN, I've never had such a pleasant relationship with a healthcare provider.  I wholeheartedly recommend Kelly Goodman and her staff.  It's truly having a primary care provider who responds to your needs.

Since I already explained the story start to finish, let me add a few other things about other experiences I have had. SAME-DAY APPOINTMENTS: It is my understanding that NNPA leaves a certain amount of time open for immediate needs. In the few cases I have had to urgently see her, I have gotten an appointment on the same day. I did not have to wait in the waiting room for an excessive period of time. While the appointments were not as long as the annual physical, which is appropriate, these appointments were as thorough. Plus, there is nothing like feeling really under the weather and having such a warm and knowledgeable person taking care of you. OFFICE ENVIRONMENT: I gave the office environment a B because the offices are in an older building. It is a quaint clean office with everything that is needed in a doctor's office. NNPA uses the limited space extremely efficiently. I would rather sit with a medical professional that is really engaged with my health in a smaller room with a window air conditioning unit, then meeting with a cold distance doctor in nicely appointment offices. REFILLS: I have called for refills on prescriptions, and this is consistently completed within a business day. Typically, I even receive a call confirming that the prescriptions has been called in. I won't bore you with the details, but in one instance, NNPA needed to call three different pharmacies because of misinformation I had inadvertently given them. Not only was I able to pick up the drugs that day, they phoned me throughout the day with updates of the situation. So, incredibly thorough! REFERRALS: In the years that I have been with NNPA, Erin has referred me to several specialists, including dermatologist, cardiologist and an eye doctor. In all cases, I have found the referred doctors to reflect the professionalism that I experience at NNPA. On the one occasion, I did not click with the referral doctor, Erin connected me to someone else, who is another great medical resource in my health network. PAYMENT/INSURANCE: You do need to be aware that you will need to pay for the service upon departure. You are responsible for submitting it to your health insurance carrier. However, among the bundle of papers you are given as you leave your appointment is a sheet of easy to follow instructions on how to submit the receipt. It is extremely easy, and I am more than happy to do this in exchange for an office that runs so effectively and efficiently. ETHICS: In an era when it feels like it is hard to find ethical people, I am inspired by the ethics of this office. Caution is exhibited when calling to request a prescription refill for my partner. In response to an e-mail I sent requesting a prescription refill, I received a gentle reminder that for privacy reasons e-mail is not the optimal way to communicate prescription information. Yesterday I asked for a prescription refill for a drug that was prescribed to me by another doctor. She said she preferred to have me contact the other doctor, as he/she should be aware of the frequency of use. Even NNPA's policy about patient care: They will not consider you a patient until you have a complete physical is a medical model as far as I am concerned. These are all things that might irritate some people. I, on the other hand, feel that my health and wellness is in safe hands.

I am so pleased. Kelly Goodman saw me immediately and the blood draw was quick and painless. She let me know when I would get the results which will be available online and I can download them for my records. I had a spur of the moment request which she took care of without fuss and she also answered my question about an old abscess including what to do about the remnants.
Kelly Goodman is very caring and knowledgeable - I am finally getting top rate medical care and without attitudes. Highly recommend.

    Bagshaw, Dr. Erin J.
It is a very difficult front office, once she got past the front office. It is an excellent clinic. The care is very good and the nurse practitioners are very professional. The front office is very hostile and difficult to deal with. My wife got lost in the building and was 10 minutes late for her appointment and the office was unwilling to reschedule her on the same day. She called them after wondering around and they told her that she should have called sooner, when she finally got to them, they told her that they could not see her. They have a very hostile office manager. I will not use them again.

She is very good and will follow you closely. She is a little conservative, but I appreciate that as an older person. I would recommend her. She is Board Certified and I trust her as I would a doctor. If I need a specialist, she will send me to one.

I love the attentiveness and care provided by an NP as opposed to the usual rapid fire medicine experienced in hospitals where  you are just another number/bill.  We can actually have a conversation about my health and is far more beneficial.  You also get a provider with lots of experience who can spend more time with you as opposed to the intern/resident/med student you usually get at a big hospital who then passes you to the Dr. who spends all of two minutes with you.  My experience at NWNP was much more like what imagine a family doctor experience was decades ago.

Found Northwest Nurse Practitioners on Angie's List. Very happy with their care and plan to remain their patient.
There was a bit of a wait before I could be seen, but I found once I was in the examination room that the reason is that the NP on duty purposely takes about 45 minutes with each patient, in contrast to your typical dash-in, dash-out doctor. We discussed a range of concerns that I had, from a B-12 deficiency I had been notified about to some recent stomach upset. The NP was thorough, sensitive, and listened carefully. I left with some recommendations about what and when to eat, as well as a prescription for the stomach upset, a recommendation on OTC B-12 supplements  that would take the place of the shot that I had been told I should get, and some peace of mind that I'd found a general care provider I could count on. I will be returning next time I need a checkup or help with an ailment.
