  • I really like that they're minority-owned and conveniently-located. They're clean and well-staffed, so you never have to wait long, and they do good work! The staff is friendly, and all of the equipment works. Not only all of that, but they also have specials all the time that really go above and beyond, like serving matching drinks with additional services. (like a "margarita face scrub" served with a margarita, etc.)

  • I've been going to this location since 1998 and it's very good.   It's very clean and they are very friendly. They have good equipment.  If you make an appointment, there is usually no wait time. The location is convenient and the hours are pretty convenient as well.

  • Reserved four chairs at Joy's for mani/pedis for myself, my mom, mother-in-law, and a friend the day before my wedding. Joy welcomed us with balloons and a festive atmosphere, and everyone had a terrific time.
    I also regularly visit this spa for waxing and manicures, and always enjoy bringing friends along. High quality services performed, super comfortable chairs, sincere sense of community, great conversation -- a small business in DC absolutely worth supporting.

  • My experience at the day spa was fine: I was taken on time, the surroundings were pleasant, and I enjoyed the services I received. When I checked out, the problems started. I presented the gift card and was told that I the SH system indicated I also had a $90 credit from a previous visit. I explained that I'd never been to SH before, so I couldn't have a credit. The person at the desk peered at the computer screen and concluded that the $90 credit must belong to another customer with the same first and last name [I have a relatively common last name; the spelling of my first name is less common but not rare]. To differentiate us, she amended my entry in the SH system to include my middle initial.

    My gift card was swiped. I wanted to give the personnel who'd provided my services a 20% tip. Since the gift card didn't have sufficient value to cover this, I used my Amex card to pay the difference, and was on my way.

    A few hours later, someone from SH called me at home and told me that I'd failed to check out. I was, to put it mildly, very surprised. I explained that I'd used a gift card to pay for the services and my Amex card to pay the balance. The SH rep then insisted that I describe in detail the gift card I was claiming to have redeemed. I told her that SH should have the number in its records, since I'd provided it when I booked the appointment. I also advised her that I'd surrendered the card when I'd checked out [it had a zero balance after I redeemed it]. I told her that SH needed to check its records -- they should not be making a call like this to a customer without being 100% sure that there hadn't been an error on the part of the staffer who'd checked me out.

    I'm still amazed at the way that SH personnel handled this situation. Not only was I falsely accused, but I never received an apology from SH. I'll never go back.

    The other reviews SH are positive, and the spa aspect of my experience was positive as well. But I've factored in the problem I encountered redeeming my gift card in my overall review. Spa experiences are supposed to be a relaxing treat, and I've often given spa gift cards to friends or family who were going through a dificult time and in need of some pampering, or celebrating a special occasion. I'm sharing my experience so that others who receive, or are considering giving, a gift card are aware of potential difficilties when it comes time to redeem the card -- redeeming mine definitely definitely was not a and quot;sweet treatand quot;

  • When my beautician moved out there, they were next to it. I like the way they do it. If I like how a company does things, I stick with them. They take walk-ins too. They accommodate you with all the different types of nail polish. They are very professional and hygienic too.

  • I have walked by this nice looking hair salon and day spa for a couple of months -- since I moved into this Dupont neighborhood.  Early last week I stopped in the salon to pick-up a business card.  The salon was very nice looking and the staff professionally friendly, so I booked my appointment right then at that time.
    When I returned for my appointment, there was absolutely no wait and again their staff was friendly and worked with me to assure I was getting the hair color I  wanted.
    Overall, it was an excellent experience and their prices are reasonable as well.  I would easily recommend Spalon to my friends

  • I've been following my manicurist, Chi, around for about 15 years regardless of where she go. I started using her when she was at the beauty school and I followed her to other locations from there because she offers consistently excellent service. Her prices are really excellent for the level of service I receive. They are meticulous about hygiene which is incredibly important of course. I've tried places closer to home, but they've been twice as expensive as this studio for the same service. They offer impeccable customer service.

  • Their nail paint will last forever. It lasts probably ten days for my hands and weeks for my feet. I still swear by her for waxing. I refuse to go anywhere else. She does full body waxing and you have to be careful of who you trust for those special parts. The overall experience was excellent. The price is good and the quality of work is worth it. She is responsive. If she can't answer the phone she will call you right back. She is friendly. It is a family business and her children work there too. I have never had to wait more than five minutes.

  • I've been going there as long as they have been in business; it has been about 15 years. They have exceptional manicurists. I've been going there a long time so I know the people well. They are very friendly and causal. An Asian woman owns it and she has Asians, Hispanics and Caucasians working for her. Chou is the owner and she is the person I see the most.

  • My girlfriend wanted to treat me to a pedicure, so I got on Angieslist to find a salon nearby. It was kind of late in the evening, so we called to see if they could take us, and they agreed to stay late as long as we made it in before closing time. Service was good - no complaints about that. It seemed a little pricey to me, and afterward my girlfriend agreed.
