    Elite Contractors Services Inc
We were really happy working with Ken and Ana on our substantial renovation project-- a kitchen, powder room and a master bath. Ken said his motto is "On time and on budget" and he means it. We liked working with them and love the final product. We knew that we had to be careful in selecting a design and build company because we were going to have a structural wall knocked down in order to expand the space in the kitchen. While speaking with other companies, we did not feel confident. Some were very high cost and it was clear that their services involved a lot, a lot, of client pampering and extreme hand-holding. We would rather sacrifice some of that over-the-top solicitousness in order to get the final product we want at the price we could afford. Ken's team was great, very polite and everyone was hard working. The attention to detail was very high. I was grateful that the few times we pointed out something we did not like, those items were corrected within 24 hours. There was never any questioning of the points I raised. I would absolutely recommend Elite. We still keep their business card on our fridge so people who ask about the work can take a photo.

    Mulcahy Brothers Painting Co Inc
After I made the appointment with Mulcahy Brothers, Michael Mulcahy arrived within a few days to make an estimate for the job- he was thorough in discussing the details and the paint to be used. I made the appointment and the workers were prompt in arrival. The job took about four days. In addition to the basic paint job, they replaced (and painted) the kitchen ceiling with sheetrock after a leak was discovered, they replaced a section of the wall behind a kitchen radiator which I had wanted to do for years, and they installed a casement a/c in one of the bedrooms. The apartment had not been professionally painted for five years and now it looks just wonderful. I was very satisfied with their work, the fact that they kept me informed on the process, and with their professionalism. This is a family run business- they take pride in their work and the result confirms their attention to detail. I would highly recommend them.

    Pascal's Woodworking
Pascal is a master-carpenter who both listens and delivers. We asked him to build us an Arts and Crafts-styled, built-in armoire around a pre-existing entertainment center. From a simple sketch, he brought our dreams to fruition. His keen eye for details created a final product which was in harmony with the rest of the room. We were very happy with all aspects of his work and recommend him without reservations for your custom job. Maurice and Robert

T and A Cuellar painting LLC
Alex cannot be trusted. I claimed a deal on Angies List and six weeks later, he is still stalling and not following up as promised over and over again. He wont put anything in writing and wont schedule a firm date and time or price to perform the work. Very disappointing and frustrating. Beware!

    Sino-American General Contracting
We hired Sino American to deal with the aftermath of a plumbing disaster in our hundred year old row house in downtown DC the original cast-iron pipes below our bathrooms and over our central hallway had sprung a leak and could not be repaired. The replacement of the pipes would likely require tearing out the flooring of the bathrooms, so while we were at it, it made sense to renovate them. Sino Americans was neither the lowest nor the highest bid, but we hired the company because its proprietor, Mason Callejas, was both candid and creative in suggesting ways we could improve the bathrooms in the course of renovating them, and because the reviews here and elsewhere praised his communication throughout the project. For example, he was willing to bid the job with an alternate price that would involve repairing the pipes only from below, without ripping out the bathroom floors (we ended up not going that route). He also suggested something that had not occurred to us making an insurance claim about the leaking pipes (this ended up providing a modest payment toward the cost of the demolition to get at the pipes). And, his bid seemed to involve the smallest amount of time when we could have to be out of the house while both bathrooms would be out of order It was a good choice. We had to be out of the house for at least three weeks, so we scheduled the work for a time when we were going to be abroad. That complicated the communications, but Mason did a great job of sending photos and talking to my brother and a friend who were willing to be our standins while we were away. (and the friend is a retired contractor who was very impressed both by Mason and by the work that his staff were doing). He had good ideas for improving the bathroom flooring (thus lessening some of the problems with the houses construction that contributed to the problems with the pipe) We ended up with two very nice bathrooms; and along the way we added new kitchen stone counters and repainting of some our other downstairs rooms. The construction took a bit longer than estimated (you have to expect the unexpected in construction jobs), but the time we could not use the bathrooms was still less than any of the other bids had suggested would be needed. The price crept up over time given the add-ons needed to address issues arising during the project), but remained lower than the highest of the bids were received. And SinoAmerican was very good at the last-minute fixes needed at the punch-list stage of the process My wife and I have hired a number of contractors for jobs big and small over the past 35 years to deal with our own home as well as an investment property in DC, and among them, Sino-American ranks with the very best. I would recommend Sino-American to other homeowners without reservation. I rarely give five stars in my reviews but here it is fully deserved

Benchmark Painting & Carpentry of Kensington, LLC
Erick and his crew were amazing. I have hired many paint crews; they were hands down, the most meticulous painters I have hired yet. They painted behind every nook, wire, crevice, while avoiding spilling paint on any unwanted surfaces. Highly recommend.

    Hmm Certified Painting Systems
After I contacted Homm someone contacted me quickly to arrange a time to meet for an estimate. Shortly after that visit an estimate was provided and I agreed to the contract terms. Workers showed up early and stayed late in order to complete the job in 1 day rather than 2. Paint looks great and workers did a great job cleaning up and putting furniture back to original locations. Very professional, would hire again!

    Rockville Interiors
Great job. A designer brought numerous leather samples to my home in the District so I could match them against the sofa's current color. The job was delayed by 3 weeks when they discovered that the leather supplier was out of stock of the sample I had chosen. So the designer quickly came out to my home again with new set of samples. Cost includes pickup and delivery.

    Pascal's Woodworking
Pascal was fantastic. My wooden bed frame had broken (the wood where the rail slat inserts had completely split apart, and I wasn't even sure it could be fixed). Pascal came to my place and gave me a quote, took the bed frame with him, and had it done very quickly. His price was very reasonable and he did a great job (I suspect it was an easy repair for him and that he also does much more involved work). He was also a super-cool guy. Highly recommend.

    Unparalleled Eye Designs
The little details are what really making working with Noel truly a unique experience. She has quite the eye for colors that would have never crossed my mind and is great at seeing the opportunity for bold statements, while keeping the soft touches classy. She is extremely professional and really seems to listen to her clients wants and needs, while being able to think outside of the ordinary. Utilizing each space with thought- has made the rooms a wonderful place to spend time in and has created a good flow throughout. Id be happy to use a Noel and her services again, and would recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful change.
