"
and his assistant,
, came in after removing shoes to protect carpet and proceeded to complete the work in an excellent" manner. They were courteous and informative. they took great care not to damage or dirty any of the well finished spaces they worked in or passed thru. A big thumbs up.

"I contacted
at
and he was able to give me approximate prices over the phone, based on emailed pictures. That was" very helpful so I could be certain they were in a price range I was comfortable with. He scheduled a technician to come within a week or two. I liked the technician and felt like he was able to brainstorm with me about options, since my toilet is in an odd area affecting the future shower door. They came during the time frame that they said, and work performed was great! Two tiles fell out when they went to pull out the old shower doors, it seemed to not be their fault at all. I was happy because they called me right away AND had the right tools to fix it right away. However, they said they could not fix the shower until a week and a half later because that was the next opening! But all is well that ends well... when I called
to complain that there is only ONE shower/bath in the entire apartment, he figured out how to get it done only 3 days later. So I was a happy camper. On the second shower, I didn't like how water kept getting in the plastic door sweep, where I would have to pull it off and clean it out. They responded very quickly and didn't charge for coming out to put a little bit of silicon on it. The work they did was lovely and still sturdy even though I have several little kids who continue to slam the doors shut over the last 6 months.

From what I can see in a picture of the item, there does not appear to be anything special about the glass. unless it has an Ikea emplem on it or special etching or something, any normal window glass replacement company like Speedy Glass or such should be able to cut and install replacement glass - probably about $100-300 depending on whether a pane or entire door-sized panel of glass, depending on which style you have.
?
Just about every sliding door I have installed is put in in sections. If it is a brand name you may be able to purchase a replacement panel from a lumber yard or call a glass company to replace just the glass. I have seen some windows and doors that have a "welded" plastic frame that is next to impossible to replace just the glass. I hate to give estimated costs on labor or material since they very by manufacturer and regional prices but I would think you are in the $250-350 range in labor plus cost of glass or panel.
?

Could be held on with concealed mirror fasteners (usually a clip or notched "button" design, with very litle showing outside the mirror, or none showing if has trim around it, or with large dabs or swipes of mirror adhesive or liquid nails. The former leaves minimal damage when removed - no more than a heavy duty picture hanger, the latter leaves divots in drywall, as you surmised, and holes in the drywall if a piece of plywood is not used as a prypoint when prying it off.

If you want to try to save the mirrors, then a glass and mirror installer is needed - they can remove them from the hangers, or cut the adhesive with wire saw - though that will add probably 2-3 hours labor per room. Then you would need a painter who also does minor drywall repairs.

If not saving the mirrors, then I suspect you could get a Handyman to pop them off, repair the divots, and repaint. Otherwise, a Painter would probably be glad to do it and repair the damage and repaint - just be prepared for a hefty charge for duct tape - like $100-200, because that is the best way to do this - duct tape the surface completely, pry the mirrors off (commonly breaking them), then cut through the tape to make pieces of glass manageable and of a size to fit in garbage can or box for hauling out. Be sure to emphasize PLYWOOD protection for floors, overlain by canvas or plastic, when removing the mirrors - drop a good sized piece and you have significant flooring damage.

Here is a prior response for a similar situation, including the same suggestions about removal, but also a bunch of ideas of how to leave the mirrors and cover or integrate them - which can be a LOT cheaper than paying a two-man crew for a day to remove mirrors, depending on solution you choose.

 http://answers.angieslist.com/Need-rid-wall-mirrors--q67621.aspx

this is probably a quarter to full days job to remove depending on how fastened and if saving or not, so about $200-800 range. Drywall repair and painting probably about another $150-250 range, so ballpark numbers - pushing $300-400 if mirrors come off easy (bracketed) or can be scrapped, more like a thousand $ if saving mirrors.

Your Search the List category is Glass and Mirrors - the Speedy Glass type company that does home and auto glass replacement.

If the glass is held in with window putty (a doughy tan or white putty) or by a wood trim piece all around it pinching it in place, then you can probably fix it yourself for about $15 piece of glass at a glass replacement place or somehome improvement/lumberyards.

If the glass is multiple-pane, or encased in a metal frame, then not easy to do yourself, though in some situations with single-pane you could remove the glass mounting frame entirely, use larger glass, and install with window putty. Double or triple pane you need then to fabricate a new "glazing unit" for you - the glass layers all enclosed in the metal encasing unit.If you are going to pay for that, might as well have them put it in too.

Overall, crazy good service...and the cost was competitive. Hope I never need an auto glass service again but if I do, will definitely use
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
and enthusiastically recommend their service to others. From scheduling to installation, the
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
people with whom I interacted were responsive, courteous and professional. Scheduling the appointment over the phone for next day installation was a surprisingly pleasant and stress-free experience. The installer phoned next morning when he was in route and actually arrived about halfway though the promised 9-11 a.m. appointment window. Despite the bitterly cold and blustery weather that morning, the installation was completed AND my inspection and registrations stickers replaced in little more than an hour. Thank you
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
for providing the level of service that every customer desires.

My experience with
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
was positive from the beginning. They followed through on their promises to send a quote within 2 days after giving a free estimate on the glass-repair, they showed up early to the appointment to fix the window, and they worked hard until the job was done (and it was tougher than the average bear).
Their price was higher than my original budget, but after calling around several places, I discovered they were in line with basically everyone else.
I would recommend this company to any of my friends. Good job,

BEWARE- This company is being run illegally. They did not pull permits even though it is explicitly in our contract and we paid extra for them to do so. We believe that this is illegal for them to have done the work without permits. We also suspect they were using unlicensed contractors. I filed a BBB complaint against them the text of which is below and in response they called admitted fault but then said that they cannot do anything for me until I remove my complaints about them from BBB and Yelp. I refused and demanded that they honor the contract. Major Problem One: So-called "One Stop Shop" All Inclusive Agreement. When the contract was signed, there was a design for bathroom and kitchen remodel and a description by the project manager of an "all-inclusive type" arrangement whereby "all labor, materials, equipment and services" were included. When we asked if there was a limit on the materials cost, we were told "it does not work like that." We insisted that surely there must be allowances like in the other bids from contractors that we had received (and we showed him one we had received from a competitor), but he explained that they have already factored in the costs of the highest end products and if our selections cost more than what they allotted, then they would eat the difference. I specifically gave the example of: what if we wanted a $1000
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
mirror, would that be included? We were told unequivocally, yes. He claimed that the addendum to the agreement would include this level of details once he made changes to the design which he unilaterally proposed without us asking for the change. With this understanding and an agreement which had no allowances and a statement that
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
was responsible for "all labor, materials, equipment and services", we signed. But in the end we never received an addendum, as described below. And throughout the process we were constantly harassed for our material selections even though we repeatedly asked for guidance with regard to where to pick from and how much to spend. We were given no such guidance but only AFTER orders were placed, in several instances it was demanded that we should pay the difference in cost between what they had allotted and what was spent. This was NOT the agreement. This resulted in an extra $717.51 in the cost of the mirror (despite that this was the exact example that I had given from the start because we all knew that an
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
mirror would be costly) and $290 in additional fixture costs. They tried to charge us thousands more but we were able to get the general manager involved and he reversed some of the additional charges. But despite admitting that their project manager was at fault in failing to structure the agreement and making empty promises, they still over-charged us in the end. We were told that the project manager was almost fired over this screw up, yet they continued to try to press us for more and more money. And the project manager would rudely tell us that if only we would be more reasonable, we would see that we have to pay more. When we would point out that we are merely asking for what is in the contract, that they should point us to where in the agreement it states that we should be responsible for these additional charges, our repeated requests for clarification and explanation were often ignored. When we did receive responses, we were told we "made changes" to the design when we never did. The only changes were initiated by the project manager and by the on-site manager. Never us. And they were not able to point to a single change we made in the design. We made the selections when prompted to do so and only after ordering would we be alerted that there was an issue. When we would point out that our selections were locked in well in advance and point to an email string, we would get no response. This business practice appeared to be purposefully misleading with the hope that most customers will just pay what they asked. This is a completely unfair business practice and consumers deserve to know that this is how they do business. Major Problem Two. As mentioned above,
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
was supposed to confirm and provide an addendum to the agreement on the first day of the project, per the requirement of the contract. The project manager claimed that he could improve on the design we had commissioned from an architect but his own on-site manager rejected his proposed changes because it was not appropriately spaced. I along with the on-site manager spent hours coming up with the revised design that solved the spacing issues that the prior design had. The project manager never came to the meeting where we did this even though he was called. He never even called back. And we never received an addendum laying out the specifics on the first day or any time thereafter even though we repeatedly asked for the addendum. Despite that the project manager did not honor this requirement of the agreement, workers began demolition prior to the project manager even arriving on site to confirm what work/design was to be done. Then the project manager demanded the next installment of payment. When I told him via text that I did not feel comfortable making the next installment because we still had not confirmed a design as required by the agreement, he responded that then the work would stop if I did not pay because they needed the money to pay their workers. With half of our basement demolished, I felt there was no choice but to pay and I never got the addendum that we were owed. The failure to nail down specifics about what materials were selected in an addendum as promised
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
to much grief and delay in the ordering process as described above. Again, this was entirely unfair for him to have done. When the General Manager of
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
was informed of this, he admitted that this was improper and waived some but not ALL of the additional charges that we ended up paying amounting to- $1007.51. Other Problems. The major problems above
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
to a 30+ day delay in project completion. We were again told that this was due to us "changing the design." Again this never happened. Also, the project manager was very rude towards us and basically stopped all management of the project after he was reprimanded by his boss in front of us and he told us that his commission was being taken away because he admittedly screwed up. We basically managed the project ourselves with the on-site manager from thereon out. The project manager was involved only to add delay in the materials orders (and misorders), much to our dissapointment. All of the work was done by a subcontractor with his own business name on his truck (even though the project manager claimed that the on-site manager was not an independent subcontractor but rather
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
's salaried employee). So in our opinion,
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
added absolutely nothing to the value of the project. Laziness and incompetence on the part of the project manager
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
to some of the work not even being completed: installation of a sliding door. We were told he "could not find" a sliding door anywhere in the
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
that would fit. But the on-site manager told us that the door was at Home Depot but that it is costly because it comes as a package deal so it seems that
Washington Glass Repair Companies Provider Name Locked
simply chose not to do the work due to the additional materials cost. We were refunded $750 for this but because we were never given the value of each service under the contract, it is not clear how much should have been refunded for this. We deserve at the very least an apology for the grief of the past several months and a refund of the extra materials charges of $1007.51.

After contacting many companies in the DC-Metro area, I chose American Glass based on their customer service (a friendly and REAL person answered their phone!) and price. I chose to replace some older windows in my home since the seals had been broken. As was explained to me, the seals can't be replaced (especially since the windows are more than 15 years old), and their recommendation was to replace the glass and seals. A total of 4 glass units were replaced. The work was done quickly and thoroughly. About a month after installation, I noticed that the windows were pulling down (letting heat out). I contacted them, and a service tech came out immediately. They explained that the new glass was heavier than the old one and made a few adjustments. It was reassuring to know they respond to needs months later, as well as to not charge for such minor repairs/adjustments. I have referred them to others and hope others use them.

This company provided outstanding service. They were punctual, pleasant, and professional. I highly recommend them. The installers were as great as the person who answered the phone and the person who measured. The turn-around was quick, too!
