"uldI explained that the oven and kitchen floor was a priority for me because of physical challenges I have that prevent me from cleaning them well. The wood floors" and dusting throughout were done well throughout. The kitchen floor was cleaned very well. All areas except the oven were inspected prior to
leaving because the kitchen floor was still wet. Upon inspection, the inside oven door had not even been sprayed with cleaner or wiped and the sides were not thoroughly cleaned. Also, when I went into my bedroom, I moved one of the lamps on the dresser to it's original placement and when I did so, it came apart at the base. I sent
photos of the unfinished oven and broken lamp. Initially I was told they would replace the lamp but then that offer was rescinded because they said I would have seen the broken lamp when I inspected their work. I will not use their service again.

"They looked like they worked very hard at it and I was happy with it and was hoping this would have been something nice I did for my wife. When my wife got home" that day, she was not too impressed and thought I wasted $100. Thus not too good for me and what I hoped to achieve which was to surprise my wife and make her happy. If she thought I wasted $100, need I say more?

Angie's Answers

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Floor Cleaning reviews in Washington

We have had several people--including people who themselves are hired to refinish/install flooring--comment on how beautiful the floors look and what a great job they did. There was some damage to the walls, and some miscommunication regarding the kitchen floor installation, but they responded to our concerns in a timely manner (even while out of the country) and offered to fix any problems.

Contractor was very punctual. Actually, arrived before me (being a rental property). Very professional and mild manner. I am very satisfied with the workmanship, would use him and refer him too. When asked to retouch an area he did so willingly.

Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
for the people who work for the company. You will find them courteous, very careful in handling your possessions, and honest. You won't find anything missing when

's crew leaves your house The company's customer service is excellent it caters to its customer's needs. If you are like me, sometimes you think you want things done one way, and
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
is very diplomatic about helping a customer to understand why the work should be approached differently. I have never undertaken a renovation project before so we had several miscommunications about the work. Once I explained to
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
, that I needed to understand what might be involved in a project before it is done, he has helped me understand the things I needed to know to make good decisions.
The work is planned at the customer's convenience. don't want crews in the house on Saturday, or any day before 8?

Torch will accommodate you. Oh, did I say the paint job and is especially gorgeous and the tile on the floor and the walls of my master bedroom bath rocks? I'll say it again. They did it to the paint job to the designer's every specification, and
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
designed the exquisite pattern of the wall tiles in the bath.
Typically, the crew comes in with their equipment at the appointed time, if they are painting they move everything except the most fragile of items for you. I had my closets painted, and that saved me time. I could have saved more time, but like I said, I have undertaken this type of project and I wasted time packing or removing things that they were prepared to do.

With a new baby in the house, it's a nice respite to have
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
come in once a month. Each cleaning service is 2-3 hours. Our house looks noticeable better and feels more livable. Even small touches, like straightening our night stands as part of the dusting, make a big difference.

Went terribly. The same rep came to do the work, with an assistant/trainee. He did a lot of buffing but then said he didn't realize how pitted the countertops were. He filled the bigger holes with epoxy but said the smaller ones couldn't be fixed since the epoxy wouldn't stay in. If that's true it was completely unacceptable for the same rep to come by and claim he could fix everything. He kept suggesting they were finished, leaving me to point out big spots they hadn't finished. Completely unprofessional. I should have refused to pay since they couldn't do the job, but it was awkward since they had spent a lot of time grinding and buffing the counters. They got the countertops smoother/shinier than they had been, but not even close to what I was expecting. The rep said he'd give me a discount since I was so disappointed, but only knocked $25 off the price. Honestly, it felt like a scam to me. They seem to have a website and no fixed address and I truly thought maybe it's a fake website and they just come out with a van and a grinder and pretend to have any idea what they are doing. I would avoid at all costs.

I wish I would have read the reviews on Yelp before I had bought this Livingsocial - apparently, my experience is not unique. I had an appointment for 11am today. When no one had showed up at 11:15, I called. No answer and straight to voicemail where I left a message. I repeated that process at least three more times. Finally, at 12:45, someone answered the phone and said she didn't know why the crew didn't show up and that she would call me back after she checked with the driver. 15 minutes later, when she hadn't called me back, I called her. She told me that the crew had been to my house and I never answered the door. That was a straight up LIE. I had been sitting on my couch, right next to my front door since 10:30am. When I tried to reschedule for the same day, at first she said she would see if she could, and then a few minutes later said she had nothing available for today. Granted, I was frustrated and wanted to know how she was going to fix things, but instead of listening to my frustrations, she cut me off, told me to ask for a refund from Livingsocial, and hung up on me. Livingsocial needs to get it together and stop offering companies that have this poor of a reputation. Livingsocial's site says: "LivingSocial is the local marketplace to buy and share the best things to do in your city." If anything,
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
is the worst in this city. Livingsocial has proven to me that my time is better spent doing my own homework and spending my money elsewhere. After
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
did not show up, and I had changed my entire day around to be home, I called cleaners recommended by some friends, Maids in Black (http://www.maidsinblack.com/). I made the appointment at 1:45, they were at my house by 2:30, and had the entire house spotless by 4:30. Clearly, it's not worth the headache of going through Livingsocial. If I had just gone with Maids in Black from the beginning, I could have saved the time, money, and effort of dealing with

I strongly recommend the process and this provider.
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
did an excellent job, providing good advice prior to starting the work, performing the job, and performing some extra work I neglected to specify in the original job order. Prior to this I was scraping and painting the concrete porch on my 100 year old house every couple of years with only fair results. A year after this polishing, my porch looks great and I have every expectation that the finish should hold up indefinitely. I was originally worried that the polishing would make the concrete slippery, but results were the opposite. It's as skid resistant as it was when I used porch paint with silica added to it. The (gray) stain itself has faded significantly in the direct sunlight, but I was only looking for a light stain in the first place and the fading has been uniform.

Three cleaners arrived on-time and performed the service requested. However, there were several issues. First, the cleaners did not request a walkthrough of the apartment, and did not ask any questions. This felt odd to me. Secondly, the cleaning took rather less time than expected, which is good, but they did not invite me to do a walkthrough, but instead started leaving immediately. I did a very fast walkthrough of the apartment, which was generally cleaned well.
Unfortunately, the cleaners caused some damage to a bathroom door, probably by forcing it against a rug that can block the door when moved. The door was partially ripped from its hinges. That's not really the problem -- things happen, and the repair was very quick. However, the cleaners did not mention the problem to me at all. Worse, when I discovered the issue, later in the evening, and reported it to
Washington Floor Cleaners Provider Name Locked
at the cleaning service, she was quite defensive and said it was impossible that her staff could have caused the issue.
At this price point, I expect substantially better customer service, and will not use
