"I had a home energy audit on 8/15 by Veggeberg and the work was done on 10/15 by two crews. The work involved air sealing and weatherization" that involved Attic Floor insulation and buffered Wall Insulation. The AirSealing was free and the Weatherization was $500.00 I never got the sense that the estimator on August 15 was really into his job. He seemed to be more focused on items he could charge for rather than what would be covered for free. The Crews showed up late on 10/15. I had to call to see where they were. The crew for the attic was very good and made sure that they protected the air flow from the soffits and blew insulation over existing insulation. They cleaned up after themselves. However, they contradicted the Auditor's recommendations and told me that some of the auditors recommendations (free stuff) were not necessary. They were in a rush and just wanted to leave. The second crew was horrible. They blew insulation into interior walls and wet plastered over styrofoam to cover the holes and the holes were prominent when the plaster dried. The blown insulation actually cause an interior wall to buckle so they had to stop with the blowing but not before that spilled wet plaster on my staircase carpet ruining it. They also attempted, without my permission, to vacuum up the mess with my shop vac which I am worried has ruined it. They also spilled the wet plaster in the driveway. This second crew was in a rush, did not know what they were doing and I am sure caused more damaged than good. I have pictures of the mess. The most disappointing part ... I never got a call from asking me about the work and when I called them I was put on hold.

"The company was on time. Two men promptly got all equipment and tools ready and began cleaning my vents. Any questions I had they answered. Very professional." they cleaned up after themselves. Nice job!

Energy Efficiency Audits

One thing homeowners can do to save on energy costs is to have a home energy audit conducted. This will reveal where drafts are entering from outdoors and where insulation is ineffective. Energy auditors can also recommend upgrades in appliances to save energy.

Many homeowners experience energy loss in their homes due to gaps around windows and doors and a lack of insulation — a home energy audit can pinpoint the source

A home energy audit can help you assess how much energy your home consumes. An audit can also show you ways to improve efficiency.

Auditors typically use a variety of high-tech equipment such as blower doors which measure air infiltration; infrared cameras that scan to identify poorly insulated areas; and surface thermometers to find leaks and drafts.

Home Energy Audit reviews in Washington DC

I was very pleased with the service that we received. was very prompt and professional in all of his communications before, during, and after the services. and I walked the premisis of the house prior to starting and then we let him get to his thing. He pointed out some obvious issues, and issues we had ...More never noticed. I have not purchased his service, yet, for doing the repairs to the house but will likely do so before we the tax credit.

My home assessor and the assessment itself were fine--but I would have liked to know that other companies (including the major utility companies) also have people trained for this work, and this isn't the only option; for some reason, when you try to schedule your assessment with MassSave or MassEnergy, it automatically connects you to ...More , as if they are the only company you can have the free home energy assessment with. It was all rather confusing, and since I'm usually pretty savvy, I suspect they manage to get a lot of people to sign up with them this way.
My energy assessment itself was informative and helpful, and my assessor was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable, so that was a good experience. But then they hook you up with their "preferred partners" for the work you need to have done. They also offer the attic insulation work themselves, and made the HEAT Loan program even more confusing that it was. I had some questions because of this, but every time I called, I had to call a general number, and would get a new person who would give me information that was different from what I had been told previously, so I opted not to have any attic insulation work or other paid work done with them (and their estimates and partner estimates were REALLY expensive).
If you choose to have them do the home energy assessment, you should feel confident that they will do a good job. But I am always suspicious of companies that try so hard to rope you into using their heating contractor, window contractor, etc., and I don't get the impression that they're the most organized or streamlined company--I'm not actually sure what they specialize in, to be honest. They seem to do some windows and attic insulation.
I would again like to emphasize that all of their employees that I met with were really wonderful--knowledgeable, not pressuring, helpful. Their phone people, however, didn't seem to know very much.

I could not be happier with my experience. is a first-rate company. They surpassed my expectations by a wide margin. They visited my home twice. On both occasions, they arrived promptly at the agreed-upon time and immediately got to work. On the first visit, and her team performed a thorough energy assessment ...More of my home which took about two hours. The cost of the audit was $400. Three hundred dollars was covered by PEPCO directly without me having to submit a rebate claim. At the end of the assessment, reviewed the results with me, provided me with a detailed written report, and pointed out areas where improvements could be made. She also pointed out what rebates were available through PEPCO for specific improvements. I found the assessment and recommendations to be very objective. At no time did I feel pressured to accept the recommended improvements. Before leaving on the first visit, 's team installed two low-flow shower heads and approximately 10 CFL bulbs. The cost for these materials and the labor was fully-covered under a Maryland tax program designed to promote . I would not have known about it if hadn't educated me. On the second visit, they topped-off the cellulose insulation in the attic that had settled over a 10-year period and was no longer at the recommended R-value for the Mid-Atlantic Region. They took great care to protect my floors, carpets and furnishings. After the insulation was installed, they re-checked the overall insulation status of my house and cleaned up meticulously. Total cost for the insulation job was $3800.00. I paid $1700.00. The rest was covered by a PEPCO rebate. took care of submitting the rebate claim.
In my opinion, represents American small business at its finest: Skilled, attentive to detail, customer-oriented and honest. I would use their services again without hesitation.

Very well for the most part. The owner was very friendly, professional and punctual. I was notified timely of any changes to the schedule and worked with me to obtain financing through NYSERDA (though it was not used). I also appreciated the owner agreeing to add additional small jobs to the contract. I was pleased with how things were going (the sub-contractors ...More were timely and cleaned up after themselves). There was one exception, the final sub-contractor. The painter was initially professional, but I was later disappointed in his behavior (once he balked at available times to work and said I could leave my key like [others], when I was not pleased with him washing paint brushes in the main bathroom, of my 1 and 1/2 bath home, I was told he left it cleaner than he met it, on the final day of painting he called at the exact time he was supposed to arrive to say he had a flat tire (coincidence? perhaps), and showed up almost an hour later with the owner of . I would definitely recommend using , despite the behavior of one sub-contractor. The owner is very professional and the work is done well.

He kept his appointment with me and was very cordial and nice. He explained everything and what he could not do he offered some other solutions to the areas that needed more attention than what he could provide. I was very pleased with and would recommend him to my neighbors and any other person that needed energy audits and ...More weather strippings.

Showed up on time and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Answered questions politely and was very professional.

They used someone that was in training to seal attic spaces, so not sure everything was up to standards. Uneven attic insulation blown in, was told that the higher points were places that I got more than required. Installed Solar Fan off center so that air flow was not optimal. Came back out to fix and just cut another square out of roof (when I asked ...More for cut to match opening in fan) and continually said that I said it was making a rattling noise (when I stated it was a sucking air sound).

We bought a house that we knew had humid crawl space. The previous owner didn't even have vapor . was one of the crawl space experts we asked to come out to evaluate and recommend remedies. Other companies just looked at the crawl space and recommended costly remedies including encapsulation and ...More dehumidifier installation. was very different in that she spent over an hour evaluating crawl space and house exterior systematically. She suggested that water entering from gutter into crawl space was a factor. She sent me a detailed proposal to extend gutters and encapsulate crawl space (includes spray foam, placing thick vapor , removing humid fiber glass insulation, conditioning crawl space, duct insulation, and shutting vents.) The price was reasonable for such an extensive work and less than what other companies quoted. always let me know when they are coming out to do the work. She spent significant amount of time supervising the workers. She was considerate to have a port-a-potty brought in so they don't need to use our indoor restroom. Everything went very well and they always cleaned up nicely. Duct insulation qualified for $200 rebate from TVA. TVA person who evaluated was very impressed with their work and said always does great job. If we need a contractor in the future, we will be contacting . She is responsible, spends time to explain, and returns communication promptly. I can highly recommend .
