Wallpaper Installation reviews in Virginia Beach

I have used Carpet Hut for all flooring needs for the past 40 years and would never consider anyone one else. The family owned business has a huge inventory of all flooring needs and utilizes their own installers who are extremely knowledgeable and professional people. Could not be more satisfied with the just completed flooring job. BRAVO ZULU !

She came with her husband and her husband just kind of did the ground work with the ladders and holding the ladders and just kind of, she was the one who did the work and was in control of what went where and making sure the ladder, everything was right.

Walls were previously painted moss green.  Ceiling beams, window and door trim and baseboard trim were stained dark mahogany.  There were water stains on the ceiling around the skylight and gaps existed around the trim.
Contractor cleaned and de-glossed all surfaces.  Extensive surface prep was performed on all stained surfaces and primed.
All cracks, seams and holes were filled or calked.
Multiple coats of wall paint, ceiling paint and trim paint  were applied.
Ken Sr. and Ernie worked two hard days on the project and the finished project was perfect.
Will definitely hire them for future projects and highly recommend them.

Anita was prompt in returning my call, quick with an estimate so I could order the correct number of rolls of wallpaper, and ready to hang wallpaper as soon as her schedule allowed.  She came exactly when she said she would, prepared the walls with wallpaper primer, and hung the vinyl paper I had chosen.  She did a very professional job, and I have been very pleased with the results. Her estimate was quite a bit lower than others I had received, but I can't imagine that anyone else could have done a better job!  A very friendly and personable woman, in addition to being a skilled paperhanger!  I will call her again when I need wallpaper removed and/or hung.

    Dory showed up on time.
She went over the job and made suggestions.
Installed wallpaper in the back-splash area of the kitchen including covering the outlets.
When she started the work she kept working until the job was completed.

Anita was prompt and brought everything she needed to work. She was quick and worked efficiently. Anita was neat and cleaned up well after herself. I have had several people do wallpapering in my house in the past and she was by far the best! I will have her back again and recommend her to all my friends.

It was awesome. He is good. The wallpaper looks good, and he winded up good. I am a neat freak, so I am really clean, and he cleaned up before he left. They did a very good job. We didn't compare the price with anything, but it didn't seem high. The price was reasonable to me. If I had any questions or complaints he would call me right back. I am already planning on using him again.

Matthew Pack and his crew arrived exactly on time each day they were here.  Even though they encountered 2 layers of wallpaper to be removed instead of the one they had expected, he did not raise his price.  The wallpaper removal in the dining room was well-done.   However, while the crew was preparing the walls in the dining room for painting, they used an electric sander that created a massive cloud of plaster dust.  Unfortunately, while they had coverered the furniture in the dining room, they had not put up a pastic barrier between the dining room and the adjoining living room or covered the heat registers.  Consequently, every item in the living room, including curtains, carpets, walls, furniture, knick-knacks, and all the china and crystal that had been removed from the dining room was covererd with a thick layer of plaster dust.  They offered to clean everything up for us, but that would have been a task that they weren't equipped to handle.  This left us with an enormous clean-up task that would not have been necessary if Matthew had given clear instuctions to the crew as to the hanging of plastic between rooms.  In an office area, he had to remove and reapply one wall of grasscloth, a laborious process, which he did well.  However, when the final strip of grasscloth had been applied, he dirtied it with his fingerprints trying to make it stick and fit up against the old grasscloth.  I don't think this can be cleaned.  Other problems included:  his workers left our soaking tub in the master bathroom full of the trash and residue from their clean-up after painting of the bedroom and bathroom.  I didn't notice this until they were gone.  In restrospect, I should have had them return to do the clean-up because it was a bear.  In addition, as the crew was leaving (in a bit of a rush), I had to point out to Matthew that the front porch columns needed another coat of paint because old paint and brush strokes were clearly visible.  His man did this with no compaint, and it looks great now.

I think Matthew is reliable, well-intentioned, and extremely reasonably priced.  However, I believe he needed to more carefully supervise his workers, who were more interested in finishing up the job than in doing a really thorough job.  He should have carefully examined all their work and their clean-up or lack thereof before any of them were allowed to leave the job.  I would consider using him again but only with clear guidelines as to his supervision of his workers.

The first job was acceptable, although there was a little overspray and dripped paint on a bathroom floor. The job was priced well, so I was satisfied overall. I was very clear on the second job for the painter not to use a spray gun. Nonetheless, they tried to spray the rails, and got overspray on shutters, decking, house exterior, fence hardware and deck furniture. Moreover, they did not completely paint the fence and broke a light outside the house. The owner was apologetic and came back to fix what was done poorly. He fixed most of the overspray, but has still failed to finish the job and will not respond to emails or phone calls. I would not recommend this company.

When I called about re-papering my dining room, Matthew came by the same day and gave me a quote after looking at the room. We agreed on the date and time, which was set for a couple of days later. On the scheduled date, he and his helper, Kevin, showed up on time (8:00am) and started working immediately. They were both friendly but professional and Matthew clearly knew what he was doing. They worked through lunch and finished up around 2:00pm, ahead of the expected time. They carefully removed curtains, pictures and furniture. They made sure the wall surface was smooth before installing the new paper. Before leaving, Matthew said to be sure to call him if there were any problems, not that any were expected, but if so he would fix anything necessary. They did a great job and I couldn't be more pleased with their work. It was a good experience and I would definitely call Changing Colors again.
