Interior Painting reviews in Virginia Beach

Based on recommendations of friends and reviews on Angie's List we hired Irish Accents (Val Little) last spring to renovate our master bedroom. We were so thoroughly impressed with their workmanship, attention to detail and honesty that we hired them this year to update our dining room, front hall and great room. We wanted to update from the heavy look of stained woodwork, and particularly heavy looking crown moldings to white woodwork and a lighter, updated appearance. We also wanted to update our fireplace surround. All went extremely well. Val and his colleague, Kenny, take pride in their work and set a very high standard for themselves. They removed the old baseboards and crown moldings, and installed new woodwork in its place. They prepped and refinished some trim, chair rail, stair risers and stringers. They removed the mantle, and demo'd the raised hearth. The mantle, woodwork and marble hearth were so carefully removed that they were donated to Habitat for Humanity. They also removed the wallpaper in the dining room, prepped and painted the walls in dining room and great room. I have included before and after pictures of the mantle and a picture of the dining room and stairs. Also Val and Kenny noticed some damaged plaster work in our kitchen on a vaulted wall and repaired and painted it without any additional charge. Kenny is a skilled and the repaired area cannot be detected. Note: Val's estimates are labor only but he will work with you on purchasing materials.

I was fearful that I’d have so many of the problems and delays one normally hears about when undertaking a major room remodeling, but my experience with Jerry Harris Remodeling was pretty painless and fairly quick. My husband and I met them at the Mid-Atlantic Home & Garden Show this past April where they appeared down-to-earth and practical. Jerry Harris was someone you wanted to work with. They also had a wonderful display. When we called them for an estimate they were quick to come out. We liked what we heard, signed a contract, and they came out the next day to take measurements. We had a preliminary plan within less than a week. The actual work, from tear-out to the last detail, took only 8 weeks. We did spend more money than we originally planned, but overages were my fault since I selected extra details and upgrades. I only plan to do one kitchen remodel in this lifetime and since it’s the room most heavily used and should last until they put me six feet under, it was justified. The cabinetry was made by Waypoint and although they didn’t have quite all the options or colors I wanted (I can be quite particular), I was still able to come away with a kitchen that I absolutely love. The cabinetry is solid wood with dove-tail joints and soft-close doors/drawers. We especially love the trash/recycling cabinet and the glass doors look fantastic! All of the subcontractors (electricians, plumbers, plasterers, cabinet installers, and granite fabricators) were courteous and easy to work with. Each one of them did an excellent job and we were particularly impressed with the plasterers who performed miracles on our wonky ceiling. Every employee was polite and helpful. They were professional, knowledgeable, and considerate with answering our many questions or concerns, as well as in taking care of our home. They were consistent in performing daily clean-up. Kelly was so patient with me during the design process while I slowly worked out all the details. Did I mention that I’m rather particular? I’m also detailed-oriented down to the very last inch. He was creative when I needed solutions to one problem or another and even came up with a couple ideas I’d never thought of – and that’s saying something seeing as I’d spent the last ten years designing this kitchen in my head. Hunter did so many things from tear-out to the backsplash tile. He did a fantastic tile job even though my design had him cutting 8-10 tiles for every 2 uncut ones. He never complained about how much more work it made for him and even seemed to enjoy it. Chad did an awesome job with all the minute details of my punch list and the shelving I had installed over my bay windows really looks fantastic. Now if I could only figure out a better decorating plan for it. Dan was our project manager and he was very understanding with any concerns we had and made sure everything went to plan and flowed smoothly. The one issue we had with a corner cabinet was resolved easily with minimal stress. He always put me at ease and I really enjoyed working with him. All the behind-the-scenes folks at the office must have also done an incredible job considering how well everything went. Without reservation we recommend them and their exceptional team. They performed superbly for us and we wouldn’t hesitate to call Jerry Harris Remodeling again for any future projects that we’re not comfortable doing ourselves.

It was great! Val and his team were as trustworthy and helpful as they were patient. And the bathroom really looks great. As to whether or not we would hire them again, as soon as the master bathroom and hall bathroom were finished, we hired Irish Accents to do the upstairs bathroom as well.

We bought our home 5 years ago and noting that now the exterior was badly in need of a new coat of paint I used Angie's list to select a painting contractor. Based on prior scores, reviews, and comments I selected ALL-Pro Painting Owned by Timothy Cline to perform the work. The home is one story constructed of brick. The gutters were removed because many of the facia boards were badly deteriorated. All pro painting started by power washing all previously painted windows, facia boards and molding. All rotted sections of facia boards were replaced as work progressed. Not enough can be said of TIm and his crew. They were punctual each day, always polite and took an obvious pride in their work and work ethic. To make a long story short and cut to the quick I am absolutely pleased with the quality of the work performed by All-Pro Painting and have no reservations recommending All-Pro Painting to anyone seeking a top notch outfit for either interior or exterior painting requirements. For the amount of work performed and the quality delivered I consider the price was quite fair and would surely hire All-Pro painting for any future painting need. Above all it is a really nice feeling to be very pleased with the end product that someone you hired delivered on.

Outstanding from start to finish. I had a complete bathroom renovation to include shower installation with tile, fixtures, shower door; bathroom floor leveled and tile installed; vanity installed; all new ceiling lights and all new fixtures to include moving electrical outlets, etc.; toilet replacement; painting and installation of new trim; and installation of towel rods, mirrors, etc. I could not have been more satisfied with their attention to detail, professionalism, and timeliness. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

Arrived on time. Nice fellows. Took precautions to keep dust down and contained, matched the "sand texture" of the wall and painted. Cleaned up the area very well. After a couple of days it was apparent that one coat of paint was not sufficient. Texted a picture of the repair. They called and someone was back the next day. Now looks great. No indication that: there had been a hole in the wall , it had been repaired and repainted.

I am writing to give the highest possible recommendation to contractor DON SANDERS of CAVALIER ENTERPRISES (757) 681 – 7851. Don has thirty years of experience in the field with jobs both big and small, and he brings absolute professionalism to the job. My husband Edward and I were very impressed with him, his crew, and the work that they did fixing and upgrading our home for us after a pipe exploded in the attic, flooding and ruining ceilings, walls, cabinets, and flooring. Don stood out from the other contractors who gave us quotes when we first began the process of recovering from the burst pipe. He was hands on, meticulously detailed, and quick in responding. He has a wealth of experience dealing with various insurance companies and emergency situations. His expert advice really helped us to maximize the amount of money we got from our insurance company with which to do the repairs. I want to tell one story which illustrates what a great guy Don is. He knew living with a section of our kitchen ceiling missing, exposing us to the cold early January drafts from the attic, was very upsetting to me. Before he did anything else, and before he even got one penny of money from us, he had his guys put up a temporary patch on that ceiling so that the house was warm and we weren’t exposed to the frigid attic anymore. That was extremely kind; most businessmen probably wouldn’t have thought and/or bothered to do that. It really meant a lot to us that he did. Don has a great personality and is a pleasure to work with. He possesses the unique ability to please the wife with high-end finishes but also keep the husband happy with price-busting ideas. He is honest about price ranges, time frames, etc. He has great taste and ideas for upgrades, but he does not try to “up-sale” his clients at all. He just listens to what you want and like and then presents you with options. Don sets the positive, professional, perfectionist tone for all his employees as well. His crew was unfailingly polite, helpful, tidy, and considerate. They took great pride in their work, as they should, because their work is beautiful. I respect them as talented artisans. They were extremely careful when they had to move our furniture and other possessions around. They were also very kind to our two dogs. When all was said and done, our home, which had been nice before, ended up being even more beautiful and functional. They installed perfect recessed lighting for us in several rooms as well as in-cabinet and under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen. The framers and sheetrock guys were meticulous about covering doorways, furniture, etc. to keep the dust from covering the rest of the home. The plasterers and painters did flawless work. The tile guys and flooring guys did such a nice job that my husband kept getting up in the middle of the night to look at it! The vertical herringbone pattern backsplashes in our kitchen are as beautiful as a work of art. All the crown moulding and chair railing they added in our den is perfect. We love every bit of the renovations and upgrades and would not change a thing! The transformation was more than worth having to live through the burst pipe! We would hire Don and his crew again in a heartbeat. In fact, we plan to hire them when we are ready to have our bathrooms gutted and redone. We know they will do a beautiful job and be wonderful to work with. Because of our great experience, my parents also intend to have their home renovated by Don and his crew. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for any renovation/repair/upgrade/building project.

How did it go? Pretty bad. Our experience pretty much mirrors the previous review. Several stop start delays turned a 2 week project into months. Now we're looking at a "new" bathroom that has tile coming up/water under the tile and a potential of 5k or more in labor and materials to correct what was done wrong. Wolak is 'out of the country'. Chris hasn't responded and the website is down. Looks like we got suckered. PS. Since typing up this draft we've had estimates to fix the issue. Looks like all of the floor and part of the wall will have to come up. Estimators are unanimous that the issue was in how it was installed. Update as of 11/20 It looks like they've had their license revoked. I am surprised Angieslist doesn't flag contractors when this happens.

As soon as he showed up it was clear he did not want to do the work. He even said (not an exact quote), "Let's see if what you want to do is even a big enough job for me to bother with." My realtor was stunned and suggested that even if he submitted an estimate I shouldn't use him.

I rarely write reviews and when I do, almost never negative in tone. Owning a small business myself, I understand how negative reviews can affect business. However you either decide to be a professional business and deliver what you promise or you don’t and suffer the results. The craftsmanship overall is very good (except as noted below). And, had Mark responded and corrected the issues, I would have been happy to recommend him. The job was originally scheduled to last about 3 weeks. It ended up taking several months. The reasons for the delay were various personal issues by Mark and Chris. A week or so after it was finally completed, one of the shower shelves separated from the wall and fell down and broke. I let Chris know immediately. This was in February time frame. Its is now August and they have not repaired it. Also, a few months after the job was completed, we noticed some of the shower floor tiles had come off. After numerous voice mails, emails and texts, Mark finally case out to look at the problems. He agreed he needed to repair them and said he would have Chris fix it the following week. That was over a month ago. Again numerous texts, emails and voice mails have gone un-answered. I can’t use my shower because of the missing tiles. So I’ve paid about $10k (including what I paid Mark and the material/hardware I purchased for him to install) only to have an unusable bathroom. I have no choice now but to hire somebody else to fix the problems. I’ll be sending Mark the bill.
