    Virginia Beach Hardscapes
I have renovated several homes and dealt with many, many contractors. Of all of them, VB Hardscapes was head and shoulders above the rest in every way. VB Hardscapes did a LOT of work at my home for concrete, drainage correction, and pool pavers. Bill was incredible every step of the way. From our first meeting, Bill was a joy to meet and work with. He listened to what I was hoping to achieve and gave me some great suggestions. His pricing was broken down for each project in a way that allowed me to easily see the cost, and that pricing was very fair. Extent of work: Tear out old driveway and pour new 22' driveway Lay drainage pipe under new driveway to allow for proper drainage Tear out old walkway and pour new curved path "Topping" on garage floor to raise and correct slope Pour side yard concrete and modify slope to house to fix drainage issue Grade back side yard, compact, and lay large gravel area for sheds Grade and lay gravel for underneath new deck Run drainage lines, connect gutters, and divert rain runoff away from foundation Tear out old patio concrete Install overlay pavers and coping around pool deck Install pavers for walkway from pool deck to gate Bill was extremely patient with me as I made changes to several of the projects and fairly priced my modifications. The quality of work was outstanding and the men on the job were meticulous in their work and cleanup. Bill came every day to check the progress, update me, and see if I was pleased. He also came back when I had a couple of loose pavers and fixed them at no cost. He was very personable, and I now count him as a friend. I am so happy with the work I had done, and love going outside now to see my giant driveway, lovely curved front walk, and beautiful pavers around my once ugly pool deck. I feel secure now knowing my drainage problems with water flowing to my foundation are fixed. I highly recommend VB Hardscapes and would not hesitate to use them again. Outstanding in every way!

Bill did an outstanding job of removing an old broken driveway that had a serious flooding problem with a new driveway that no longer floods. He is so easy to work with, and his price was well under other estimates. We are extremely pleased with his work, and we would hire him again as well as recommend him to anyone who has a problem with flooding and/or their driveway.

    Orion Industries LLC
I needed to replace the sidewalk in front of a home that I had owned for 30 years but no longer lived in. After 4 estimates Orion and one other company came in at the same price. However Jimmy offered to resurface my steps in front of the sidewalk for an extra $200 where as the other guy didn't mention it, so I went with Orion. Showed up on time but only had one guy there to bust up the old sidewalk and wall. I felt bad for the guy cause that's a lot of work for one person. Jimmy came back later to help and two more guys came by to haul it away. Jimmy started forming the wall with some very old 2x12's that were noticeably crooked and the stakes holding the form in place were on the inside not the outside of the form.I wish I had stopped him then but he assured me that he would get it right before pouring. I also noticed that the 100 year old iron hand rail that was going up my steps was now bent and pulled out from the wall. This happened as they were busting up the old sidewalk. He said he would take care of that also, but he never did. It was getting late and I had to get back to home so I left them to it. The finished job looked bad to say the least. Wall wasn't level, it wasn't smooth at all and it it was a little crooked just like his old wooden form. The rails were never put back in place before he poured so now they are permanently out of place. He also tried to leave without cleaning up anything, concrete and mud everywhere. I made a big mistake hiring these guys and made an even bigger mistake by paying them even after they screwed everything up. Learn from my mistake.

Started to research a few local contractors in March 2018 to get quotes on replacing or resurfacing my concrete driveway, which had been damaged from years of salt and corrosion. I contacted Bill Watson (Owner VAB Hardscapes) who promptly came out the next day (22nd March) and provided me with a quote and answered my questions about the job. Bill was very professional, walking me through the entire process, $100 deposit and timeline for completion. He informed me that because of the condition of my driveway it would not be possible to resurface, instead a new driveway would have to be installed. I had two other contractors come out over the next few days, who provided me quotes and also confirmed that I would need a new driveway. I chose Bill and VAB Hardscapes because they provided me with a fair price, were fully vetted on Angies List and was able to complete the work based on my timeline. Bills team gave me a date 4-5 weeks out from my original quote, which met my timeline. At the end of the 3rd week, after Miss Utilities had marked the area, Bills team contacted me to say that could be out next week to start the project early. At that time they provided me with directions to prep and clear the area for the upcoming job. Bill and his team showed up the following Thursday @ 0800 with the necessary equipment to break-up the old driveway and prep for pouring the concrete the following day. On Friday AM they finished prepping the area and leveling the dirt for pouring the concrete. The mixer truck showed up at 12:30 and poured the concrete, completing the driveway in 2 days. The next day, on Sat, Bills team came by to clean up the area, remove the 2 x 4s, and provided me with last minute instructions on how long to wait to walk and park on the new driveway. I would definitely recommend Bill and his team. Very professional team, who came each day on time and worked until completion each day. I live on a busy street on a curve, so kudos go out to the backhoe driver not only did he have to dig up the old driveway, but also put up with the crazy traffic coming and going around him. I had only one hiccup during the job. When digging up the old driveway on the 1st day, the team accidently spliced my cable and internet line which was buried shallowly by the cable company. The team notified Bill and I immediately, at which time Bill called the cable company who started a trouble ticket to fix the cable line. The next day Bill and his team installed an electrical conduit for the cable line to bury deep enough under the new driveway. The cable company tech came out that day and fixed the line. The cable and internet is working now, with no problems. My driveway looks great, still waiting a few more days until we can park on it BJ Jones

    Tidewater Masonry
The company owner and head workman was solicitous, polite, and professional. He explained what he was doing and clearly understood his craft. The price was what I would expect for such a large porch, but he offered me a discount. So much the better.

He forgot to show up for the appointment to get a quote. We scheduled a second appointment. The day of the appointment, he said that I he needed me to show up a couple hours early, so I left work to meet him. During the appointment, he was unfriendly. Then, he never provided a quote.

None of the work was completed on time. The contractor did not communicate changes to schedule. 3 mos after final completion the driveway started cracking. The company put caulk/epoxy in the crack (it looks horrible). Worked with them (constantly having to badger them to get in touch with me) for over 7 months, nothing but continued excuses why it hasn't properly been corrected. Have now gone to the BBB to ask for assistance with contractor. Contractor also damaged several irrigation lines that were clearly marked and would not repair we had to pay almost $3K to fix damage they caused.

    CLARK NURSERY
Awful. Awful After months and months of poor performance and sub-standard work. Still going on after this project started in June 2017. Be on the look out for the now for Clark Building Group. Clark Olsen promises it all and under delivers. After a while you can figure out he doesn't know anything about pools, electricity, concrete, etc. Our assigned Project Manager eventually admitted he did not know anything about pools and was a home builder. Clark actually stopped communication with us directly and we went through Project Manager. Now the project manager has quit so who knows what will happen. They buried the well point and still filled up the pool so wrinkles remain.

    TJ's All-Scape Designs LLC
This team is AMAZING! We had tenants move out who didn't maintain the yard, so it was a bit of a mess. When I arrived, TJ and Melissa were hard at work. A few minutes after I arrived, TJ rang the door bell and walked me around the property explaining what they had already done and what else they were going to do. He gave me some tips for maintaining the beds and some specifics for one of the flowerbeds. He is a wealth of knowledge, super friendly and professional. After they finished, he walked me around again asking if everything was done to my satisfaction. We discussed him coming back out to freshen the yard before a birthday party, he said he would be out the day before and once in between. He recommended me calling if the grass got too high because of the rain before he was out again. I came to the property one day, noticed it was getting high so put it on my to do list to call him, got distracted and forgot. The next day, I came to the property and realized the grass looked amazing.....he had already been there and cut the grass!! I can't say enough about how wonderful this company is. He also does one time services, perfect for landlords, not many companies offer that!!
