Car Dealership reviews in Virginia Beach

  • The only time they were responsive is when I go off the lot and being in a car. They had to get the car somewhere else and they got it when they said they would. They lied to me. They agreed to trade in my prior vehicle and when I got there, they said they didn’t want it after I already made arrangements for everything and they took a deposit on my car and they didn’t want it to be brought back because they could live up to the end of their contract so basically it was a nightmare from hell and I would never ever buy a car from them. I don’t care if my dream car is sitting on their lot.

  • We bought some sort of warranty or something when we bought the car. They explained the whole thing and didn't charge me anything. Their service is tremendous. We've been working with them since 92, buying cars through them. I bought my wife a new Mazda last February. They were terrific. The reason I went was, I like their service department. I purchase from them, but I also get all my repair work done on my cars there. They're really good.

  • I have to travel for five hours to buy this car and when I got there, the paperwork wasn't ready. I told this guy I was coming there five hours and to have everything ready. The car was in terrible shape. They really got me good. It had scratches on the bumper in the front and in the back. The grill was broken. It was a Maserati. After I bought this, I put another 3000 bucks into it. I had issues with the breaks after I got it. I had to spend another 1100 bucks to fix the break. There was a water leak coming in from the front. It was a nightmare. I will never use them again.

  • I don't think I would buy another car from them. I have service there. The service department is great, but sales is just atrocious. The whole reason that the whole sales thing was a big deal was because I made them fully aware that I was planning on getting an economy compact car from them and I didn't want any frills with the car. Basically, what it was was that they were doing kind of like the standard gimmick of providing the services of like wheel well. I told them I never want that. It was $350 or something like that taken off of the invoice. What it boiled down to was that they charged me for it, but the way that they justified it was that they gave me a certificate basically saying that if I wanted to have it done, to come in and this was a voucher to have that service.

  • TEST drove and inspected a few vehicles I was interested in purchasing at the time. Spoke to several sales people within a 4 week time period. Each one person offered vehicle test drives without sales pressure to buy.

  • I would give them 'A's across the board. The price of the vehicle was $18,370, which was over $5000 below MSRP. Of course, that was between incentives and military discount and just like a general discount.

  • Awesome job!  Very thorough, my car never looked so good.  I recently sold this car and I'm sure that this detailing paid for itself 4-5x over.
I will definitely use Thompson & Son again for my current vehicles.

  • The day after receiving the estimate, I told them to go ahead. I was told the work would not be scheduled for another week due to ordering the new bumper. I hadn't thought it would take that long. I was told it would be a 2-day job unless some additional damage was discovered once they removed the old bumper.
The following Wed morning, I brought the car in, expecting to pick it up on Friday.  On Thursday, I was told that rivets had to be ordered. (What? You don't have any rivets?) On Friday morning when I asked if my car was ready, I was told no, that they were having trouble getting the color to match, even though it is a 2011 car with the color code clearly stamped on the vehicle.  Friday afternoon, I was disappointed to be told the car would not be ready until Monday since they are closed on the weekend.
On Monday, I was told they still couldn't get the color right and were calling in a specialist and another person. On Tues I was told the specialist finally showed up. I got no phone call on Wed (I have caller ID and can check the phone log easily).  On Thurs morning, my husband called and asked to speak with the manager and was told that he was not in yet. He then spoke to the representative who lied and said he had spoken to me the day before and had told me it would be a few days. My husband told him he wanted two phone calls a day with an update.
At 1:00 PM Thurs, he called and said it was just now being painted again.  At 5:00 PM, he called and said the color was finally right. I asked if I could come get the car, and he said no, it still needed a decal.  On Friday morning, I called and asked if my car would be ready that morning to be picked up and was told no, the decal person was not available until after lunch.  At 1:15 PM, he called and said the car was ready for pickup.
This 2-day job took 10 days! I don't understand why rivets weren't ordered with the bumper if they didn't have them on hand. I don't understand why a car with a paint color code would take so long to match. Is there no standard formula for each color?
In the end, the people we spoke with were very nice and the work itself was well done. But the frustration of being without my car for 10 days for a 2-day job was beyond ridiculous.

UPDATE:  At my husband's suggestion, they did repair a dent in another place at no charge and did a good job.

When we took a second look at the bumper a couple of hours after picking it up, it was obvious the color was not the same at all -- much grayer-- and there is a scratch near the tailpipe. I immediately took pictures and will have to contact Allstate again since the work was guaranteed.

  • After going to almost a dozen used car dealerships & this one actually had the cars they listed on their site! I did my homework. I got the car fax & opted for the AutoCheck as well. The car I originally was interested in, didn't work for me. So I opted for a 2002 Mercury Cougar w/ 115,000 miles at around $3,995 but it was under the condition that they'd work w/ me to figure out the issues w/ the car. And they have! I also opted for a 3-month warranty just in case, and i have time to find an extended warranty that'll start once that is up. Any questions they answered. Is the car perfect? Nope. But they fixed what they could and pointed me in the right direction to get a few things fixed on my own like a replacement antenna. As car buyers, we have to do our homework, and after my experience, I'd recommend them to anyone!

  • AFTER DROPPING OFF OUR 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA AT HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH WITH SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS ONLY TO DO THE DIAGNOSTIC. MY WIFE WAS INFORMED BY HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH THAT ANOTHER MORE ENTAILED DIAGNOSTIC NEEDED TO PERFORMED TO DETERMINE THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER.  MY WIFE OK"D THE MORE ENTAILED DIAGNOSTIC. AS I AM LIMITED TO PHONE ACCES DUE TO THE NATURE OF MY EMPLOYMENT I WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH AT THE TIME.  SHE WAS LATER INFORMED BY HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINA BEACH THAT AFTER THE MORE ENTAILED DIAGNOSTIC OUR CAR WHICH HAD BEEN INSPECTED BY HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH WITHIN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS AND HAD NO ISSUES AT TIME OF INSPECTION NOW HAD A FAILED A/C COMPRESSOR. REPAIR COST $1221.04.  THAT THE BRAKES WERE IN "CRITICAL" SHAPE, WITH A REPAIR COST OF $600.00 . SHE INFORMED HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH THAT SHE HAD TO SPEAK WITH HER HUSBAND AND FOR HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH NOT TO DO ANY OF THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS TO OUR 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA. UPON RECEIVING HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH'S FINDINGS  FROM  MY WIFE   I THEN CONTACTED HALL NISSAN DIRECTLY WHERE I WAS TRANSFERRED TO SERVICE ADVISOR RONALD R. WATSON JR. WHO INFORMED ME THAT THOSE THINGS HAPPEN WHEN IT COMES TO A/C COMPRESSORS THOUGH NOT COMMON IT IS WHAT IT IS. I ASKED WHY HAS THIS CAR HAD SO MANY ISSUES? WAS THE CAR A LEMON? THE CAR HAS HAD MANY PARTS REPLACED. EVEN THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED WHEN THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. HE GAVE THE STANDARD ANSWER.  THOSE THINGS HAPPEN. I ASKED WHY WHERE THE BRAKES LISTED AS CRITICAL? WAS THE CAR NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE? WHY WASN'T IT CAUGHT ON THE INSPECTION? WHAT WERE THE FINDINGS THEN? I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. HUH?  THAT THE INSPECTION FINDINGS WERE NOT LISTED. I AGAIN ASKED IF I HAD A LEMON BUT BEFORE HE COULD RESPOND I STATED I SHOULD JUST TRADE IT IN.  HE WAS VERY HAPPY TO GET ME A QUOTE .  WHY WOULD I DO THAT I ASKED THE CAR HAS A FAILED A/C COMPRESSOR AND BAD BRAKES.  RONALD R WATSON JR SAID THAT THE A/C WAS FIXED. I TOLD HIM THAT NO REPAIRS WERE APPROVED. HE SAID MY WIFE HAD APPROVED THE A/C REPAIR.  I INFORMED HIM I HAD JUST SPOKE WITH HER  AND SHE HAD NOT GIVEN ANY REPAIR APPROVALS FOR WE MAKE ALL MAJOR DECISIONS TOGETHER. SHE WAS IN FACT WAITING TO HEAR WHEN WE COULD GET THE CAR INTO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION  HE WAS ADAMANT ABOUT THE REPAIR APPROVAL . EVEN SUGGESTING THAT MY WIFE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE REPAIRS NEEDED.  AFTER FINDING OUT THAT THERE WOULD BE A COST TO REINSTALL OUR OLD A/C COMPRESSOR WE DECIDED TO JUST PAY OUR BILL VOW NOT TO USE HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH

WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED BY SEVERAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOPS (ALL ON ANGIE'S LIST) AND IN WRITING THEIR FINDINGS HAVE ALL BEEN THE SAME THE BRAKES ARE FINE AND NO NEED FOR REPLACEMENT AT THIS TIME.  IT IS SHAMEFUL THAT SOMEONE (HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH) WHO WE HAVE USED FOR YEARS WOULD LIE TO US AS WELL AS STEAL FROM US. THEY ARE A CHEAT AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NOONE EVER USE HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH. WE ARE TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH. WE NOW WONDER IF THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE ON THE WHOLE TIME.  WE ASKED FOR OUR FAILED PARTS BUT WERE TOLD THAT THEY NO LONGER EXISTED.  WE WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT TO THE BBB.  WE HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR A/C COMPRESSORS BUT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THEM.

WE HAVE INCURRED LOSS OF WORKTIME AS WELL AS PAYING TO FIND OUT IF OUR CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE.  HALL NISSAN OF VIRGINIA BEACH IS A TERRIBLE!!!
