  • 5/14/2013 - Googled Exterior Painting- Lander,WY. Initial call to Cowboy Custom Pro Property requesting a bid. Talked to Gary Miller who said he would get back to me in a couple of days.

    5/16/2013 - Called and left a message for Gary to see if he was going to bid on the job.

    5/18/2013 - Received email from Gary saying he completed a bid on 5/18/2013. Bid attached for $4250.00

    5/20/2013 - Asked Gary for clarification on how many coats of paint his bid included. He responded with 3 coats.

    5/21/2013 - Emailed Gary saying I accepted his bid and would put a check in the mail for the deposit.

    5/21/2013 - Mailed down payment check for 1/2 of the amount. Gary acknowledged receipt of my email and replied with, I will advise you on a schedule date to get things started.

    5/25/2013 - Down payment check was cashed.

    6/1/2013 - Received email from Gary saying, We have had lots of rain and we have you on the schedule for June 15th 2013.

    June 15th came and went. I checked with the Property Manager and the house was not painted nor was there any sign of the contractor mobilizing.

    6/19/2013 - Emailed Gary asking what his schedule was for painting our house.

    6/20/2013 - Gary responded that he had us on the schedule for Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 to start painting the house.

    7/11/2013 - Called office and left a message asking about when the house would be painted.

    7/13/2013 - Sonya called me back and said Gary had a family emergency and had to take his dad to Denver. She said they would get the house painted starting the next week

    8/12/2013 - Left a message saying I stopped by the house and it was not yet painted. I said I was trying to be understanding of their family situation but I needed to get the house painted by the end of the month (August). I requested they either get the house painted or refunded my money so I can find another painter.

    8/23/2013 - House still not painted. Called and talked to Sonya. She said they had lots of rain. When I asked where because the whole state was very dry. She said in Casper. She said the painting would be done this weekend (Aug 24-25) then she said it would be done on Sept 6-7. I said I am not sure we can wait that long because that was another 2 weeks. I told her I would talk to my husband and let her know if we could wait another 2 weeks.

    8/28/2013 - Called and talked to Sonya and said we could not wait any longer and requested a refund. Told her I had been more than patient and they cashed my check in May. She said ok that they would send my check back but would subtract eh cost of the materials. I said I would need a receipt for the cost of the materials or I would pick them up. She said no that she would use them on another job.

    She said she would have Gary call me.

    Called and left messages on 8/28, 8/29, and 8/30. Kathy (or Cassie) called on 8/30/2013 and left a message saying Gary was out of town and they were checking with the accountant about a refund. They would get back to me.

    9/4/2013- Called and talked with Sonya. She said the Accountant had a family member that was sick then they were taking leave and would be back on Thursday or Friday. She said the accountant and Gary would get together and send a check.

    Called and left messages on 9/6, 9/7, 9/9, 9/11and 9/16. Finally reached Sonya on 9/16/2013. She said talk to Gary. He claimed I cancelled the work a week before it was scheduled and their refund policy would not permit them to send me a check. I said that was not exactly how it happened and that I had kept very good notes. I reiterated to him that this did not have to become adversarial and I simply wanted my money back since they did not do the work. He said his accountant sent me a letter.

    Received a certified letter from Cowboy Custom Pro Property with a letter saying they could not refund my money and a refund policy that I saw for the first time.

    9/18/2013 - Sent an email to Gary saying it was unfortunate that we could not have worked this out.

    I have kept detailed notes and have additional information.

    This did not need to become adversarial; they did not complete the work so I simply want my money back.

    Their website claims "One call gets it done", "Dedicated to Customer Service", and "We Provide Honest, Quality Work". I experienced NONE of these assertions.



    Issue was resolved after I hired a lawyer. I was refunded my entire amount of the deposit, but is cost me over $250 for a lawyer.
