  • These guys did great and it was outstanding how they loaded the truck to make it that far without hardly any damage... this was a first for me!  When we got to where we are living, I hired some movers and they were not re-hirable, but Affordable Actions Moving Service is.  If given the opportunity, I would most definitely use them again!

  • The move out of the home in NJ was near excellent.  All 7 individuals had everything packed, blanketed, wrapped, boxed and labeled in about 6.5 hours.  Final loading into the truck was complete by late afternoon with at least 7 sheets of numbered items and descriptions provided to us.  They used coverings on the floors, stairs and any place excessive wear and traffic would occur.  Everything was cleaned up and the truck departed. This was a near excellent experience.  Due to extra boxes and labeled items that we had requested, there was an additional charge above the original estimate but we were OK with that.
The delivery to the Wyoming home occurred as planned, with the truck arriving on a Sunday, 2 days after we made our cross country drive arriving late Friday afternoon.
This is where the nightmare began. The driver arrived with one summer helper and apparently hired two locals who had never performed any moving activities before.  One of these individuals arrived wearing sandals.  They complained after a few hours about how hard the work was. As it was a bright, sunny, warm August day with no threat of rain, everything was off loaded into the driveway so an accurate accounting of the items against the 7 pages of numbers/descriptions could be made.
During the initial meeting with White Glove staff, we were promised that the move in Wyoming would include floor covering for the carpeting, stairs and wood floors. The driver had no hardwood floor or carpeting covering material at all (this was the first thing the movers did in NJ) so the new carpeting we had installed in the downstairs area and stairs to this area absorbed a lot of punishment.  The stairs (light color carpet) were especially bad.  This will likely have to be replaced. Most of the items were brought into the home without much issue, but a large oak entertainment center and a brand new expensive upright piano that had to go downstairs presented problems to the driver and his inexperienced group.  The driver in his wisdom, dismounted the piano from the flat sled it was on.  This exposed the piano wheels and legs to banging on every step as they had trouble lifting the 480 pound object.  The adventure getting it downstairs (13 steps) brought fear into our hearts.  Amazingly, it was completed.  The entertainment center had to be slid down the stairs but this occurred only after they failed to get it down the first time and gored the stairway ceiling trying to do so.
Finally, the ordeal was over, all items were moved into the house and appeared to be accounted for. The driver completed the transaction and called his supervisor to inform him that the delivery was completed and to have me register the issues with the ceiling, piano, carpeting, etc.  This phone connection was so bad that it was not clear whether the information was received or not.
On Monday, we contacted the White Glove office in Bayonne, NJ to register our issues but were told that we needed to make sure everything was unpacked, inspected, all items accounted for and all damages identified before we initiated a claim.  There was a reasonable time period to do this.  We were upset with the moving episode of the day before and expected more understanding and response from customer service but received a very nasty responses from Lisa and then we were slammed onto hold and after at least 10 minutes we finally realized that she wasn't going to continue any conversation.  We called back the next day and spoke to another individual who understood our issues, was surprised that the driver did not have any floor covering materials and better explained the process.  We were informed that as we had purchased a moving insurance policy that we would need to file this claim with Baker Insurance Agency.  There was some limited damage to a few items, a scratch in the dining room table top, to the sides of the pool table frame, and a nick in the front of the piano that were covered by the insurance company.  The damage to the carpeting and ceiling were not covered by the moving insurance.  our initial contacts with the Customer Service department  at White Glove concerning the carpet were extraordinarily unpleasant (Lisa again) and after deciding that the carpeting must be replaced, we have decided to try and get White Glove to cover that item.  An e-mail to the company management has not been responded to so we are now posting this review.

  • I  had no trouble.  All the moving boxes I got for free.  I had to pick them up at their office but it was still free.  They also gave me tape to tape the boxes.  My contact person called me before, during, and even after the move.  They were good.  The driver and his helpers did a great job.  I have not complaints about them at all.
