Rodger takes excellent care of my dogs! I never have to worry about leaving them when I go out of town. I would definitely recommend this business!

They also take pictures during the weekend to help you see how the pets are doing. They do have limited drop off and pick up your pet.

The doctor is extremely thorough and kind. When our cat has to be seen because it's ill, there's always follow-up and concern shown.

    Cheat Lake Animal Hospital
They were fine; we had no problems. The price was fine; they are generally lower than the others. With regard to responsiveness, they are a little hard to reach sometimes. With regard to punctuality, they are pretty good. The paperwork is a little sloppy sometimes.

    Mountaineer Pet Care Center
Excellent overall boarding experience. We have lived in a variety of areas throughout the United States with experience with numerous boarding facilities. Mountaineer Pet Care Center has been excellent with the care of our dog. We are able to leave on vacation without worrying about our little dog. She is often freshly bathed on pick up. I feel greater comfort knowing that there is a vet next door on the property in the event my dog be should become ill. Mountaineer Pet Care also offers a grooming and styling salon. I often opt to have my dog groomed while she is a guest at the boarding resort. Our dog does not care for other dogs and Mountaineer Pet Care Center takes care to assure that dogs have their own territory and play areas. They also will administer necessary home medications, specialized diets, or treats provided by the owner. Lastly, Mountaineer Pet Care Center is diligent about assuring that all pets are up to date on their vaccinations. They will not accept a reservation for grooming or boarding without a copy of a current vaccination certificate. I feel more confident knowing that my dog will not be unnecessarily exposed to sickly dogs. Overall we have been very pleased with Mountaineer Pet Care Center and cannot recommend them highly enough!

We took our 5 month old lab mix to their puppy basic class. It was an excellent class and our dog did well with the training methods. Would absolutely recommend the class.

    Cheat Lake Animal Hospital
See above. The staff at both the boarding kennel and the vet hospital are outstanding - the best we have ever dealt with. We highly recommend them. When you leave, the only questions that remain unanswered are the ones you forgot to ask. They are that thorough. Any new dogs in our family will go here too.

Business did not accept credit card payment. I provided all the cash I had at pick-up and was allowed to provide a check at a later time for the rest of the payment. The check got lost in the mail and I had to issue a "Stop Payment" with the bank and reissue a new check to the business. The dogs itched and smelled badly of urine and required an immediate bath once home. They were friendly, accommodating, reasonably priced, close by and had a good fenced area for the dogs to run. One dog has anxiety issues and the other is easily frightened and snaps. So I think they did the best they could considering that.

After leaving my dog with Carol for a week, I found out that she left the prong collar on for the entire week. This collar is only supposed to be used for walking on a leash, never left on while indoors. Carol has been told this previously when I had left my dog with her. The prongs ended up becoming embedded in my dog's neck (4 deep puncture wounds) and severely damaged the sides of her neck, requiring the collar to be cut off when Carol finally noticed "something wrong" at the end of the week. She then did not call me to tell me about the injuries until the next day before I went to pick up the dog. When she did call, she said there was "a puncture." This all required a visit to the vet's office where my dog had to be sedated, her neck shaved, the wounds irrigated, and having her put on antibiotics and heavy duty pain killers. In my opinion, this is gross negligence on Carol's part. She should have known from previously boarding my dog that the collar was not supposed to be left on, she should have noticed earlier in the week that something was wrong (the vet agreed that the injuries were inflicted over the course of several days), she should have called me when there was a problem, and told me accurately how much damage had been done. She was negligent in the care and treatment of my dog. She did waive the boarding fee, saying that it could be used to "offset the vet bill." I would not recommend her services.
