    Benitez Landscape & Design
His crew showed up on time. They started work at 8:30a and completed everything by 2:30p. Saul who is the manager supervised the project from start to finish. The quality of the work was excellent and no wasted time. He was willing to come out to Jefferson County WV to perform the work which is 45 minutes from Leesburg. Thanks again for the great service!

Cozy Country Home and Lawn Care
Called them for a quote. They came out the same day and inspected my property and gave me a quote on the spot. The next day they showed up on time and began right away with weeding my garden, then they mowed and sprayed all of the areas that they weeded. Then proceeded with mulching. Now my home is the most beautiful on the block!

    Bryan's Outdoor Services
Bryan is owner, operator, and he is also an arborist.  He is very honest.  I plan to do a contract this year with him because last year I used him as needed.  He comes by and looks at the grass and if it needs cutting, he cuts it.  If it doesn't need cutting, then he waits.  If it is hot and dry during the summer, the growth is a lot slower and the grass can't be cut too short so he is not one of those every week kind of person.  He is always here when it needs to be done.  He does spring and fall clean-ups and I am sure he does fertilization as well.

    BK Services
He is an absolute pleasure to deal with and his three sons are top notch. All his estimates were honest, accurate and almost always 75% less than estimated , which always made me feel happy. In conclusion, Brian can perform any task that concerns a home, a jack of all trades if you will, he is world class and one of kind. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Meadows Farms INC
A very bad experience from beginning to end, in contrast to the excellent hardscape work by the same company several weeks before. A semi-trailer unloaded 33 cubic yards of mulch on my gravel driveway without putting down plastic or a tarp first. Part of the area had mulch on it previously, but this load made it much worse. I walked the foreman around the beds before they started work, pointing out the non-shrub perennials that should not be disturbed. An hour later, I returned before the mulch was applied, and over four dozen mature perrenials had been dug out and piled on the lawn with the weeds. During the edging process, I had to ask that several of the edges be redone to produce a smoother curve - this should have been elementary. When the mulching was complete, a huge pile was left over. I told the crew to leave it there, and withheld $450 from their payment because of the damage to plants and the extra mulch. Thinking about it, I should have withheld $1000 (see below). A few days later, I began a lengthy negotiation with Sanford Silver at Meadows. He initially refused even to consider replacing the plants that had been uprooted, and repeatedly implied that I was either exaggerating the damage or mistaken. Finally, he asked me to detail the damage, which I did in an e-mail on November 2. Then ensued three weeks in which I would leave telephone messages for him, all without reply. Only when I threatened to go over his head did he finally call me back and accept my suggestion that his company replace the plants in the spring. On the issue of the excess mulch, he dispatched a truck, without warning, to pick it up. When the mulch was loaded, the driver told me that it totaled at least 16 yards. On that basis, at $60 per installed yard, I figured that Meadows Farms owed me another $510 on top of the amount I had withheld. However, Mr. Silver insisted that when returned to their yard the load only measured 10 yards, and "in fact, a little under that." Since I had no recourse, even though the driver had said "that's no 10 yards I ever saw", I accepted Silver's offer of $150 additional. I'm now waiting to see what happens in the spring. Lessons learned: 1. The foreman is critically important to the quality of the work being done by this company. In several years and about $25K of work, I have had two excellent foremen, one mediocre one, and this guy, who was terrible. He was at least 15 years younger than his two Hispanic workers, and did not appear to be able to communicate with them effectively. That's the only reason I can imagine why they made such a clean sweep of my perennials. I will never again contract for work with Meadows Farms unless I can specify the foreman, and have that promise in writing. 2. Demand that a tarp or sheet of plastic be put down before allowing delivery of mulch or other bulk material - it should be routine. 3. Be *much* tougher - including halting work immediately if I am not happy.
