    Nes Unlimited Inc.
TERRIBLE!! Abandoned the build after giving him between $160,000 and $180,000. Did not pay subcontractors. Hired an unlicensed person to brick the house, who also abandoned the build after taking $8,000. Refused to release us from the contract. Continued to send subs and ordered us to pay them directly. The list goes on in our instance. Check out Virginia DPOR, insert this company, and review complaints. This was after an investigation. Also listed as President of Craftbuilt, Inc. in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Do your own research and reach your own conclusion.

The project went extremely smooth with very few change orders. The people at Premier worked with me to identify possibilities that I hadn't considered myself. Would definitely recommend, and hire again!

    Osborn Services
Kelly Osborn took on this job after I had a failure with another contractor.  He was on the job on-time and per schedule and his crews were excellent.  He worked with me to help layout many custom interior features of a custom building, which was an industrial steel building converted to a cabin type arrangement.  Not an easy job and it required several innovative approaches to the design.  His professionalism and responsiveness is what impressed me just as much as the fine custom work that was performed.  I would definitely hire him again on another building job.

    Haley's Roofing
I requested an estimate from Mark after seeing some work he was doing, talked with him to ask exactly what kind of work he did besides roofing.  Mark said he did everything from building houses, to remodeling, to adding on rooms. He said he was not licensed but he knew what he was doing. Mark offered references and information to see work he has completed. Mark said he would visit our house for an estimate and was 10 minutes early for the appointment. The estimate was prepared and delivered in person with a detailed materials list within 48 hours. Construction began the following Monday. On the 2nd day of construction, I was impressed to come home and find the outside walls up. Mark had it under roof in record time. He has employees that perform electrical, drywall hanging and finishing and is great at troubleshooting unexpected problems with existing construction. Mark is a great adapter. My husband and I had partially torn down an old barn and asked Mark to put it on one of the walls. It is the most beautiful wall I have ever seen!  He and his employees work well together and brainstorm to figure things out. They made recommendations I would never have thought about to give more light in the room, so doorways were changed to include windows in the main room while not diminishing my walk-in closet space.  They are simply great. I can't wait till it's finished.  What I've already seen is enough for me. They are very cost conscious when purchasing materials and do not waste anything. They clean up and haul off all old materials and debris.

    Machen Home Improvements
We are very pleased with the work.  Jodie and his crew were professional and very polite.  He addressed any questions we had about the structure.  We were very impressed.  They worked in rain, cold, and it even snowed on the last day of the job.  They began the job sooner than we first thought they would be able. They finished the job when they said they would have it finished.

    MARK A ROMANO
His was not the lowest estimate, but he was honest in detailing the work necessary, got the tile we wanted and worked consistently to put up roof, balcony covering and front balcony.  Was quick to respond to a skylight lead and did not charge extra for return visits.

Machen Brothers did a great job replacing the roof on a home I own.  They did the work in a very timely manner and cleaned the site daily which even impressed the neighbors!   The workmanship was superb.  I was so pleased with that job that I then hired them to   put a new roof on my garage and barn.   I would highly recommend Machen Brothers Home Improvement.

    GUMM CONSTRUCTION
It was a great experience. It really helped me to understand all that goes into a project like this. I am glad I didn't try to tackle it on my own... We have a 1999 Modular Double Wide Home. I called Bill Gumm and asked him for an estimate and he came out the very next day. We (me and my wife) had several other contractor estimates before contacting Gumm Construction. I wanted to get my ducks in a row before I talked to him. I knew of Gumm Construction from some work they did for my Mother and Grandmother about 14 years ago on their house. They added a large family/living room onto their older home. It still looks great after all these years.. He came out for the inspection and he got right to work. we talked about all that I want done and along the way he told us about our options for each project. He talked about things that all three of the other contractors put together didn't talk about. He told us that he was totally licensed and insured and covered under workers compensation so that we wouldn't have to worry about any of his workers getting hurt. We talked about adding shut-off valves at the sinks and shower since we will have it apart already anyway. None of the other contractors seemed near as interested in this kind of detail. I got the impression that he was working on our home and treating it like his own. OWESOME. He did everything that we asked and then some. The only problem that we ran into was with 84 Lumber. They messed up one of the cabinets we ordered and we had to re-order it and It took 6 weeks to get here.. but even they took care of me and added no-slam hinges on all of my cabinets for the inconvenience. The only other problem that we ran into was the relocation of the window in the kitchen. Neither of us had realized that the kitchen window was 4" too close to the corner. I went down to 84 lumber and ordered the cabinets and they gave me a discount for using Gumm Construction. In order to use the corner cabinet I ordered they would have to relocate the window. The extra charge was reasonable though and I saved more than that on the initial purchases. When Bill Gumm Construction (Bill) gave me the initial estimate, he also gave me a list of things that I could purchase to cut cost, or raise cost if I wanted a luxury item. For instance he allotted me $25.00 for basic lighting fixture for the kitchen and I found one that I really liked for $10.00 - that just knocked $15.00 off the bill or extra money that I could add somewhere else. Like our under cabinet microwave. He allotted $200.00 for it and me and my wife got one with a convection cooking for $250.00. all togather I saved nearly $2,500.00 purchasing some of the items myself. I didn't have to worry about basic construction items or other stuff that really didn't matter anyway. Bill and his workers were always asking me how I wanted it if there was more than one way of doing it.. His workers were awesome I won't mention any names for there privacy, however he keeps a top-notch crew. They were always kind, courteous, and respectful of us and all our stuff. Thank you Bill Gumm, and a Thank You goes out to all of the workers too...
