  • Mr. Cicalese arrived early, and I walked him through what needed to be done.  He noticed the kitchen faucet hadn't been installed correctly and made that right.  He made sure the window shades were perfectly even. Last, he took on the challenge of putting the patio screen back on, after I walked into it and knocked it right off the tracks just a few days after it was installed.
I couldn't be more pleased with his work.  He asked questions when he had them and explained repairs to me.  It is very hard at times to find someone to do "little things" around the house.  Contractors don't want to do that, and handymen are getting harder to find.  I believe I've found a good one.

  • I already had the AC unit. He brought his brother with him to install the unit. Took them 2 days. He was not punctual. He would drop his brother off and leave for hours. He rigged up some type of duct work to cool the upstairs through a bedroom closet. He left holes in the floor big enough for a cat to crawl through. This year I had to have a the duct work replaced. They had installed the AC cooler upside down which caused water build up under the house.

  • As much as I like the owner, things did not go well at all. He showed up with his son and another worker. They got right to work, as expected. Before they got there, I organized my medicine cabinet in the master bathroom and took a full inventory. I and quot;thoughtand quot; but wasn't sure the last time they were here, someone took some of my medication. So I prepared.
About an hour into work, I was told I needed to make a run to Lowes to purchase some squares of drywall to patch some holes they found and other material needed to do the job. When I got back, the owner wasn't there. I immediately went to the master bathroom and checked the medicine cabinet. One of them took a whole bottle of pain medication. The whole bottle! I waited for the owner to return, pulled him to the side and informed him. He asked me if I was sure. Of course I'm sure. I took an inventory. He said he would take care of it. Keep in mind they were bundled up because it was very cold outside. I believe it was in the low 30s.
Needless to say, nothing was taken care of. He never addressed them directly. I was upset. He said he went through their lunch pales and found nothing and that was it.
Now at the beginning of this job, I put the paint for each room by the room's door. Some how, they managed to get it mixed up. I don't know how. Since the bedroom is at one end of the hallway and the guest bathroom down at the other end. So they painted the borders of the bedroom with the bathroom's color. Luckily, there was still enough to do the bathroom.
On the second day, the owner only showed up with his son to finish the bathroom. The floor looked good, but the walls were another story. They looked very . . . spongy. I guess a better description would be wet paper rubbed a lot. They were trying to smooth it out and said it would be fixed.
At the end of the day, when they said the job was done, I went in to look and it looked good, even though there was some plaster on the sink and the toilet seat lid was filthy from them standing on it. I was told it would be cleaned up. Not so much.
When I went in after they left, I found that the sink had big chunks of acrilic missing behind the faucet and on the side and I would need to replace the toilet seat. It was broken and I couldn't get the black marks off. I looked at the wall they were having problems with and it looked fine. I looked at another wall and it looked like they painted over fabric. It was lumpy. I was just so very disappointed by what happened. I won't be using them again. If you use them, lock up your medication.

  • Construction by RQ LLC was awesome. They were scheduled to install 8 windows and refit my sliding glass door when Hurricane Sandy hit. Even though they had no power or water, they found a way to contact me and reschedule 4 days later. Not only were they prompt, but they were professional, did an exemplary job and quickly. A 3 to 4 day job only took 2. They also made a point to clean up after themselves. I would highly recommend them.

  • Two other construction companies wouldn't do this job because there wasn't enough room to use heavy duty dozers or backhoes. Highland Landscaping had a very hard working crew who hand dug the bank prior to installing the concrete blocks. They worked very hard and took minimal breaks.

  • He has done numerous things for us, and he is pretty good. You name it and he can do it. He has always done an excellent job. The only bad thing about him is that he is just not so punctual. If he says that he will be there at around 11 o’ clock, it is probably going to be more like 12 o’ clock, but when he gets there, he goes straight to work. He works and doesn’t stop, and he does a good job. We had a water main that busted at one of our rentals and he came right out there. He knew it was an emergency and he came right out and fixed it. He does a little of everything, and we use him for everything. He is professional.

  • Last Saturday (7/21/12) we noticed we were not getting hot water so we called the plumber hoping to get a fix.  He came Sunday evening and noticed the pilot light was out and lit it and charged us $80.  The next day we noticed the pilot light wasn't staying lit so we called the plumber again and he came Tuesday and said it might need new parts or a new replacement of water tank. He said he would be back on Wednesday same time (9 a.m.).  Wednesday came and he didn't show up.  We called him and left a message.  Thursday came and nothing.  My husband called again and he said he would be over 10 a.m. on Friday (7/27) He didn't show up and didn't pick up the phone.  He finally called us on Sunday and said he would come on Monday at 8 a.m.  He came at 9 a.m. and ended up putting a new hot water tank in.  He charged 800.00 ($200 in labor) and it was a bit steep but we were willing to pay.  I didn't have that much right on hand and asked if I could give him $200 down and then run to the bank to get a loan.  He said no and then said he wouldn't have "wasted his time" coming out here to put in a hot water tank if we didn't have the money"  So i handed him a check with the money and asked if he could hold the check for ONE day and he said no.  He was very nasty but I never said anything about the fact that he had blown us off and been very rude.  Next time we will just go to Lowes.  It would have been cheaper and the service would have been more prompt and efficient.
