Garage Building reviews in Wauwatosa

This went terribly. It's June 2017 and we're still hating the driveway poured in 2014--it has MAJOR pitting and scaling issues ever since the first winter. When I called our contact at JD Griffiths in early 2015 when I noticed the scaling and pitting, someone came to look at it. Their response was something like "Well, that's just how concrete is sometimes; it's luck of the draw!" A too bad-so sad response. We are VERY dissatisfied.

Since 1996 we have recommended J.D.Griffiths Company to family, friends, neighbors and coworkers with always the same outcome. They have provided; quality workmanship, have employees that are dedicated, respectful of your property, always professional and friendly as well.

Absolutely fantastic experience.  Aaron was upfront about all of the aspects of our project including costs, potential problems, and time table.  He worked with our schedule as we left to go on vacation for three weeks during the beginning stages of our build and we came back to a nearly completed project.  It just says a lot about the professionalism of an individual to know that I can be half way around the world and have peace of mind that what was agreed upon before I left was being executed as planned while I was away especially considering I could not be contacted.

Even after having been satisfied for 3 months now, we had a slight issue with our service door not closing properly.  Aaron came our within a day or two and fixed it no questions asked.

He was a pleasure to work with and I will certainly be in contact with him in the future when a project arises.

    Thanks Aaron!

From the quote to the actual service, the company was amazing.  Mark showed up early for the quote and also to begin the service.  The work was done beautifully, finished as promised, and we are very pleased with the results.  Brigitte was good to work with as well.  We would definitely call them again.

First off I can't say enough about their service Rep. Bill, he was there from start to finish and was able to address any concerns I had about the job. He explained everything that would happen in what order from the tear-down of my old garage, the laying of the new concrete, the building of my garage and the electrical work involved in the new installation. The tear-down of my old garage went fairly quick. The concrete removal was really a problem as we had a couple days of heavy rain and the ground was saturated so much it turned into a mud pit, but after a couple days of sunny weather the new cement was laid no problem. The day they came to put up the garage it rained all day long with just a few breaks. I give the workers credit for working through the whole day. They started at approx. 7:00am and finished up the same day at approx. 5:30pm. I couldn't be more happy with the job they did. They cleaned up after and the area around the garage was all cleaned up. Though the price was somewhat high they were in line with other estimates I received. I would definitely recommend American Garage Builders.

We had a great experience with Classic Builders. We needed a tear-down of a single car garage and the associated concrete and concrete slab to be redone. We purchased a 2+ car garage and additional parking slab for our small lot in the City of Milwaukee. Ryan was prompt and detailed with the estimate. The final cost did not fluctuate. The tear-down guys were lightning fast - we didn't even notice they were there. They came on a Sunday morning and were done within 2 hours. The cement was poured shortly after the tear-down and completed to our specifications - my husband sometimes parks his semi in the driveway, so we expressed our concern that the thickness of the concrete be able to handle the weight of his truck. We've had no problems so far. The structure was built, with the whole project being completed in about 3 weeks. We initially decided to use Classic Builders after our neighbor had such good things to say about their experience. They lived up to their reputation. We've had numerous compliments from other neighbors and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Our Home is very special to my wife and I. It is a 1930's French Tudor style and we have always felt that any remodeling we did would need to embrace the style and craftsmanship of the original construction. After our first meeting with Kristi I knew that she got “it”. Upon seeing her initial design, there was no doubt. Amethyst is a company that listens your vision and then makes it a reality. Amethyst designed and built a new garage and workshop space on our property that feels like it came with the house. We also contracted with them to completely rethink our kitchen. Kristi has a unique ability to re-imagine space, maintaining the charm of century old design and enhancing it with modern touches that seamlessly enhance the living area. This is not cookie cutter design. If you are looking for something personal and unique, and are willing to go on a creative journey, then I would highly recommend calling Kristi to set up a design meeting.

B.R. French LLC did an excellent job regardless of the task; from building custom soffits to hanging the drywall the workmanship was excellent. One of the big advantages of using B.R. French LLC is that you only need one contractor for perform many different building services. B.R. French LLC was always on time starting the work in the morning and was very professional. Asking for small changes as the project continued was never an issue. You couldn't ask for a more pleasant building experience. I highly recommend B.R. French LLC for any of the work described.

I like their quality, their timeliness and their low cost high quality work. Basically, they do the job right the first time. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a garage build. They have done a good job for me. I would say don't build a new garage without getting an estimate from Classis Builders. I would use their services again in the future.

The sales consultant that worked with us was very friendly and responsive to most of our requests. There was a misunderstanding regarding the electrical that will be explained later. Overall the project went well. Concrete looks great, drains appropriately, absolutely no complaints. However, my one complaint with the company is there were a couple of misunderstandings regarding the concrete. FIrst of all the garage was to be wired with 220v electrical for a heater and compressor. Before the slab was to be poured I spoke with the foreman and explained this. He acknowledged and said they would run a conduit through the concrete. After the slab was poured I saw they had run a small 3/4" id pipe that was too small for 110 much less 220. When I spoke to my salesperson about this he said that we had never discussed anything beyond basic electrical which I know isn't true because I know I told him I wanted 220, extra flourescent lighting, and at least one outlet on each wall. The resulting fix was to run an outside conduit down the side of the garage, then down the side of a retaining wall then to the house. It looks tacky, but short of digging up the entire slab and re-pouring, it was the only option. I ended up contracting with a different company for the electrical portion. The other concrete issue was that they completely forgot to deal with the additional concrete porch behind the house they were supposed to pour. We ended up cancelling this portion of the job after three months and paid the remaining balance. Personally I felt the price was a little high given that another $2000 of electrical was still required. However, I have no complaints with the quality of the work to this point. One of the extras I requested was a commercial-grade steel framed, steel service door with deadbolt for security. J.D. Griffiths was happy to oblige. Overall the quality of the garage seems just fine and appears to be holding up just fine after two years. The deadbolt on the service door is a little hard to use and it doesn't seem like the bold and bolt hole were lined up exactly. This isn't a huge problem though since we don't use the service door very often.
