Excavating reviews in Wauwatosa

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • The team was amazing. They were well organized. They worked diligently to remain on schedule ...and did! What could have been an extremely stressful couple days (having your basement floor opened up and a trench dug all the way around the house exterior) was managed with respect and efficiency. The foreman was a dream....available for any questions, kept us informed of every step of the process.

  • Extremely well. Paul was meticulous with estimates, giving us three contracts as he determined exactly what our job would entail. The crew was prompt, efficient, professional. Cristela kept us updated as the work progressed and was always available to answer our questions and run interference with the inspectors and sub contractors. This was a HUGE job and I cannot be more pleased by our choice of Accurate. I would highly recommend them.
    - Margaret S.
  • Jim and his team worked flawlessly on my job. The level of customer service and responsiveness was the best I've experienced with any contractor. The driveway, patio, walls, steps, and drainage are incredible and I couldn't be happier.

  • Whenever we had a hard rain, we had seepage into our basement in three different locations.  Our home inspector recommended Accurate Basement Repair as a reputable contractor and they get very high marks on Angie's List.  So we contacted them and first had them do a test in several areas of the basement to determine whether our original drain tile system was still working.
We scheduled the test and they came out and performed the work, which entailed creating a one square foot hole in basement floor in the three areas where we had been experiencing leaks.   They flushed water at the foundation and before long the leaks once again occurred. As a result of the test they recommended that we replace the original drain tile system.
Paul Vacarro, the estimator and our main contact throughout the project,  explained in great detail what exactly would be done in replacing the existing drain tile system.   We scheduled the project several months out, giving ourselves time to clear out the basement.
The work took about 2 1/2 days to complete and they took care to cover up items with plastic sheeting.  They also put down canvas over stair carpeting and other areas of the house where they needed to walk.  The crew was very polite and professional and worked impressively together as a team.  Jimmy was the crew leader and he and his team did an excellent job.   In total they excavated a total of 144 linear feet of drain tile.
Throughout the project the communication was excellent and we always found it to be both thorough and timely.
We would highly recommend Accurate Basement Repair, without reservation, to anyone needing quality work at a reasonable price.

  • Al and his crew did an outstanding job, continuing for three days till job was done.  He took extra care not to rip up the lawn and perennial gardens by laying down industrial planks for all his excavating equipment till the job was done.  Al takes great pride in leaving a work site in better condition than when he starts the job.
Warranty work was provided to the new Buyers.
This recommendation is being supplied by the Realtor, who recommended Adonnis Waterproofing to her clients and will definitely continue to recommend Adonnis Waterproofing for future clients.
Al is simply the best in the business, honest, reliable, reasonable and best of all does the job right, the first time!

  • It took about three days but the men showed up on time each day and work steadily until everything was done.  Obviously breaking up the concrete around the bottom of the wall created dust and mess but the men covered everything with plastic and kept the mess to a minimum.  Around the outside they had to dig up some shrubs and plants and they were careful to preserve and replant these when they had the tile put in.  As they went along with the project the foreman explained to me what they were doing and when they would finish the project.  considering the job they had to do i was very satisfied with the outcome.  It took several months for the walls to dry out before I could repaint the walls where the paint had flaked off due to moisture and I was able to do that late this summer.  As of a year of completion I see no evidence of leaking and the dry walls I was promised has become a reality and I am now happy to say that my basement is dry and my water problems have been solved.  I would recommend Everdry Waterproofiong to anyone who is having problems with a wet basement.

  • Mr. Dahlgren was very responsive and professional in all our dealings with him. He responded to our initial call very quickly and scheduled an estimate within a couple of days. He showed up on time and was very pleasant. Our job was a relatively small job for his company and he said that he would fit us in working around other jobs if that was okay with us. We said that it was fine as long as the job was done before winter set in this year. He called us this week ( in August) to say that he could fit our job in during the week. His crew showed up on time and completed the work in a half a day. They worked under less than great conditions ( 90 degree heat and road work in the neighborhood). They did a great job on the walks and also tweaked them for better aesthetics . We were very pleased with the work. We would recommend his company to anyone and would not hesitate to uses them again ourselves. They were great to deal with from beginning to end!

  • They did a great job at a great price.

I made a couple of changes to what I originally requested and they were very accomodating about it.  They were also very easy to communicate with; responded promptly to messages when I left them and were very punctual.

After the project was complete, they cleaned up.  Most importantly, they did a beautiful job!!  I smile every time I go out my back door and see the perfect work they did.  Bravo!!

  • I was selling a home, and a potential basement wall/foundation issue was discovered during the inspection. My realtor recommended CRC.
David, the salesman, was prompt, courteous, and seemed
knowledgeable. He inspected the area in question and said the problem could be
any of a number things. He said he would require a report of a structural
engineer before providing an estimate. That seemed perfectly reasonable.
I hired a structural engineer to inspect the area, who
said that the issue was actually quite minor. The cracks in question were formed
from settling had ceased at least 10 years ago.
He said of the problem could be repaired by installing "internal
pilastars" in the upper row of the cement block in the form of rebar and
poured concrete.   He thought it should cost no more than about $2,000.00.  He provided a written report to that effect (without mentioning costs) a couple days later.
I sent the report to two other contractors I had called
before my realtor got CRC involved.  Both of the other contractors returned a quote of $1500. I talked to
one via phone, who said that I had "hit the jackpot" because the
problem could've been so much worse.
Then CRC's quote in. The estimate, after a $2000
"courtesy discount", was $8000! The proposal included excavation of
the entire area, including removal of the sidewalk near the house, laying drain
tile, and other work. None of this work was recommended in the structural engineers
    report.
I emailed David of CRC and asked him why he proposed so much work
then the structural engineer's report said was required. He replied:
"We would look to solve the problem of the
hydrostatic pressure on the wall (hence excavation) in addition to simply
reinforcing the wall.  CRC prides itself in doing the job correctly the
first time and working to solve the issue/cause... we would install the poured
pilasters from the outside, as we have seen too many fail as an inside patch
    technique."
I asked him why he felt he was more qualified than a
structural engineer to diagnose the problem . He replied:
"I did not have a chance to call Matt.  We
do not see all that many requests from engineers for internal poured
pilasters.  I do not feel as though I am more qualified due to my title, I
simply estimate items based upon CRC?s corporate experience, and in some cases,
we differ from other contractors in opinion."
That last part is truly is truly incensing. To state
    that   "corporate experience" somehow
trumps a qualified structural  engineer's report, a report that CRC insisted on me obtaining at my own cost by the
way, is arrogant and condescending.  CRC should have at least call me to discuss
the situation before quoting far more work than I asked for. It couldn't be
    bothered.
Here is the final straw. While I was waiting for the
engineer's inspection, I had another contractor provide an estimate for excavating
the area in question and completely rebuilding that section of the basement wall.
His total quote, which include far more work than included in CRC's
    proposal,  totaled $5000 --- $3,000 less than CRC's .

I have no reason to believe CRC does shoddy work. If you
want to be vastly overcharged for unnecessary work, by all means hire it.
Otherwise, stay away! Stay far away!!!!

  • The job was perfect from start to finish!! They showed up exactly when they said they would down to second!!! Tony is a great guy!! He takes his job very serious but keeps the mood lite. He explained every detail and every cost. They had to dig up our north basement wall to be able to push the wall back. They dug it up pretty quick and the guy doing the digging was like a surgeon on the machine!!! Even know we were adding a 2nd story to the house and the landscaping was gonna be trashed due to that they still put down mats for the equipment to drive on. They took the time while the work was going on to answer all my questions and even walked me thru every step of the job that I wanted to know. They even let me help with some stuff so I had a better understanding of how it all worked. The crew was great and up beat the entire time. They had to have custom fabricated steel supports made to brace all 4 walls and tony took the time with his engineer to make sure they were an exact fit. The house is a steel framed craftsman house with steel floor joists and his welder took extra time to weld all the beams in and also welded some bracing in for around the house at no charge!! They totally cleaned up my basement to a fine clean even know I was in the middle of demoing walls. They totally cleaned up everything outside as well. Even did the neighbors driveway cuz they got a tiny amount of dirt on it!!! Tony was the only guy who said the walls could be fixed. All the other bids I got wanted to tear out the bad wall and even the other walls that hadn't moved very much. He explained why he could fix it and showed me other jobs where the walls were worse that he was able to push back. All in all they did exactly what they said they would do and then some!! I hope I never have to use them again but if I do they really stand behind their work 100%. They are great guys and do great work and I'd recommend them to anyone who needs basement work done.
