Had Jordan Exteriors replace two exterior doors and couldn't be happier about the quality of the doors and the professionalism of the installation crew. This is the second job they have done for me (they installed replacement windows last year). I highly recommend them.

Some good work, had to supervise to correct many errors. Overall, we were dissatisfied, and felt they were unreasonable and overcharged for what was done. Left much cleaning work for us to do. Never followed up on cleaning out vents at the end. A lot of lacking in follow-through. A nightmare experience, took way longer to complete work than planned -- often came home to see skeletal crew, when much work was to be done still.. Questionable charges. Never resolved our request for reconciling costs. Can hear workers cursing, leaving cigarettes butts everywhere -- not professional. Just awful. We cannot understand their A rating, based on our experience.

I had 10 double hung windows to remove and install and the crew had it completed in less than a day. I was shocked on how quickly they were able to get the old window out and the new windows in. They sealed everything up properly and re-wrap all the trim in aluminum that looked better than before. The crew also made sure that the outside of the house was picked up like they had never been there. Very impressive! Also, I had purchased a patio door from them 5 years ago and I had noticed a moister problem. The crew called it in to report the issue and within minutes they were working on the correcting problem at no extra charge because of their fine warranty. That was a nice not having to worry about explain anything they just fixed it without hesitation.

    Ganser Co Inc
I had Ganser measure and do bids for a skylight replacement, 4 casement windows, and a patio door.  At the initial visit, I made it clear that the priority was to replace the skylight and the windows upstairs.  I also requested a quote on a fixed skylight and a solar venting skylight.  The salesman made a note of this and we set up an appointment for me to come to the showroom.  I came in the showroom and the first thing I was shown was how easy it would be to clean double hung windows.  I was there for casement windows.  He showed me all the features of the double hung windows and never made to the casement windows.  He also spent time on the patio door which again wasn't the priority.  I had to ask about the skylight which he kind of blew off. We went into their meeting room to see the bids.  The cost started at about $16,000 but if I signed today I could get $5,000 off.  The cost of the upstairs windows were rolled together with the cost of the skylight.  I asked him to separate the costs of the line so I could see the cost of the windows versus the skylight.  He thought I wanted the windows itemized.  He said that wasn't possible.  I thought that was really telling because they were advertising buy 1 get 1 free windows.  Once he understood, he gave me the prices.

I had gotten a bid from Waunakee Remodeling prior to this meeting and brought their numbers with me.  Waunakee Remodeling quoted me a skylight price that was almost half of what Ganser gave me.  I also told him what their window pricing was.  After that, his "fair" pricing started dropping like a rock.  As we talked, I finally figured out that he was only quoting full replacement windows and not inserts.  I opened up the brochure and pointed out that it said both inserts and full replacements were available.  He told me that he didn't sell inserts but some other salesmen did.  I apparently didn't have input into what I was buying.  I wasn't fully sold on either but would have liked to have the option.  He was also very resistant to giving me pricing on white windows.  I had originally asked for color bond and he told me that white would only be a nominal saving.  The savings wasn't nominal.

He hadn't done a price on the solar venting skylight like I had asked.  I told him what Waunakee Remodeling had given me for pricing and said he could absolutely not get that low without taking a loss.  He gave me his "breakeven" price.  There is a tax credit for solar skylights and Velux has posted the average savings on their website.  Ironically, his breakeven price was close to the average price on the Velux website. We were talking about breaking up the bid into the upstairs project and downstairs project, one of his argument for keeping these together was that I could get a better price because they wouldn't need to bring out 2 dumpsters.  I live in condos and I have never seen any window company bring a dumpster with them.  The condo units don't have that many windows.

I left feeling like if I signed with Ganser, I would have no idea what I was getting.  There seems to be substantial padding in their pricing.  I would strongly recommend getting a price from Waunakee Remodeling if you want to buy from Ganser.  It gives you great negotiating leverage.  I really was very interested in buying Marvin windows and probably would have spent the extra money.  Ultimately, if I do buy them it won't be from Ganser.

I noticed a neighbor had hired Chris Jordon to put new front doors on his house.  I asked Mr. Jordon to stop by my house when the had time, and he said  "I will come by right now if you like."  He took time to explain his product and pointed to weaknesses in my current door which were giving us trouble.  His price was better than the others and I felt like he truly believed in his product and his Amish work team.  They were a delight to converse with as they worked.  His timeliness, commitment to price with no up-selling means a lot to us.  He was timely and professional, his Amish team was eager to please and took the time to do it right, and the clean up was nicely done.  I have no hesitation in recommending Chris Jordan to every person who needs work done and does not want the hassle of people up selling them with fear tactics.  This company does business like companies used to when doing the job correctly meant everything.  Chris was on scene for much of the installation.  He checked with me at the completion and assured me if I had any problems to call him and he would respond immediately.
The finished product works better than our last one when it was brand new.  It is sturdier, heavier and  looks better.  We will be looking for opportunities to work with the Jordan Exteriors team again.
