    Sullivan Home Improvements
Mick did a great job for us. Remodeled did an expanded our laundry closet. Involve taking down a wall, putting up drywall, framing and finishing work. He did an excellent job. Would hire him again in a minute.

    Shutter America
    Run away now!

Wow the WORST product we have ever received for our home EVER!

We contacted Buck Massy (Texas Exterior Shutters) about making wood shutters for our home after finding him with a Google search.

We anxiously awaited the delivery of our shutters for the home we are in the process of restoring.  With excitement I opened the first bundle of shutters.  To my horror  the bubble wrap that was protecting the shutters during shipment was stuck to the shutters.  Thousands of little round dots all over the painted black shutters.  I was thinking as I unwrapped them who would wrap a freshly painted product in bubble wrap?  I was also thinking and hoping it would scrub off... well it only gets worse!  The bubble wrap issue was only a very small problem compared to what I noticed as I continued the un-boxing and unwrapping! As an avid woodworker for over 30 years I know what to look for and know quality when I see it.  I don't think you could have made these shutters any worse even if you tried! The quality was so BAD it was almost unbelievable.  First thing I noticed after the sticking bubble wrap was the big dips sanded into several louvers that was very noticeable.  I have no idea what they were trying to sand out but very large dips 3-4 inches long on many louvers about 1/8 inch deep.  Then one of the louvers had a hole about 3/8 inch on the leading edge of a louver not sure what that was perhaps a knot?  Then several corners sanded down so far it looked like they removed about 6 inches of wood!  The problems only get worse.. cracked and open joints, cracks in wood that they tried to hide by painting over them, these were very large cracks over 8 inches long.  The best was one spot that look raised in the paint.  We noticed it was soft like you could put a thumb print in it?  I took my finger nail and pressed into it... it was ROTTED wood about 2-3 inches around, they painted over rotted wood!

A phone call message left on a Saturday to Buck was immediately returned, lets say I was not very happy and let him know it was the worst workmanship I have ever seen!  Buck was very umm lets say excited and more or less said I had no idea what I was talking about, he even had the nerve to say QUOTE "You know this is a natural wood product and not a plastic shutter"  WOW unbelievable!!!  I told him my lawyer would be in touch with him on Monday.  He asked to see pictures which I GLADLY provided to him.  After several email exchanges and pictures, he said to ship them back and if they were as bad as I said he would refund our money.  Well the story ends with us getting a refund of the shutters but not the return shipping which was expensive $300!  We agreed to pay shipping one way as part of the return but assumed as a business owner who would want to make it "RIGHT" when a consumer receives a bad product he would want to do everything possible to have some type of honor... Well when I contacted him about the shipping this was his reply:

Joe, As per your instructions, how you all wanted us to handle this. You all stated that  "The best solution for us would be to return the shutters for a refund in the amount of $2,835.95.   We will pay for the hardware and shipping one way."   We accepted your agreement as you stated. Case closed.

Buyer beware he product is terrible!  Funny and dishonest thing I noticed while try to write this review on Angie's List Shutter America has the Angie's List logo on the bottom of the web page, interestingly they have had no reviews on Angie's List, well until now.  Yes Buck your are very Welcome for the well deserved first review.  Most business don't put Angie's List logo without some positive reviews unless you are trying to BS your way and make unsuspecting consumers believe you offer a quality service and or product!

    Adam's Handyman & Remodeling Service
I should preface this review by saying that we are both very particular and detail oriented. Overall we were very pleased with the quality of the work performed. Pat and Adam were both very polite and easy to work with. We have never worked with contractors who have been so meticulous about their measurements, fit and finish and always cleaning up after themselves every day.
Adam measured out what I needed to order and was spot-on for his measurement. He also pointed out several potential issues and recommended solutions that were cost effective and functional. For instance: we had a tile back splash above our old countertop. Adam was the only contractor who (during the estimate process) measured the height of the back splash and had us confirm with Menards that their back splash would fit. It didn't, it was too high. Adam suggested ordering the countertop from Home Depot instead and it fit like a glove. Best of all we didn't have to mess around with replacing or modifying the tile backslash!
Both Adam and Pat were very cost conscious. They did not go out buy material without first consulting us. I suspect that he catered to our needs and sensed that we wanted to be more involved. They were also OK with the homeowners helping out, which we did when and where we could. In the end there were not a lot of hidden costs for materials above the labor charge.
Overall, we would recommend Adam and Pat and would consider them for other jobs at our house (large or small) in the future. Pat was right in that Adam should change their name from Adam's Handyman's service since their skill level was superior to other general contractors we have in the past!

    Cruz Roofing & Construction
The Cruz brothers came to our home promptly after our home had been damaged by hail. The builder of our home, who is extremely fastidious, had Cruz Roofing replace her roof and recommended Cruz to us. All concerns and questions were answered quickly and completely. The crew came to roof and side our home promptly. We had a high grade roof placed, which required some different finishing work and it looks great. The siding work they did was better than the original job. The original finishing work around the windows was poor and Rick showed us how it would be done to look more and quot;finished.and quot; Attention to detail could not have been better. They were effficient, clean and respectful to our home and to us. The house looks beautiful and everything went smoothly.
We had many roofing contactors, many from out of the area, knock on our door in search of work. Cruz Roofing is a local established business. Months after the job was complete, we had a new deck put on our home. The deck contractor caused some minor damage to the siding. Rick Cruz came out and personally replaced the piece of siding and, did not even charge us!
I would never have anyone else do roofing or siding work on our home-- fair price, excellent job!
