    JBS Construction
JBS did a great job, from the initial estimate process to the actual work. Crew prepped the area on a Friday afternoon, and poured the concrete the next Monday morning. Precision work on both days. Results were exactly what I wanted.

Polished Concrete & Retaining Walls Inc
Consistent with the most recent reviews, it appears the wheels fell off for this company in late 2017. I had a rep from the company out to quote the above work in August 2017. They provided a very detailed, professional looking estimate for the work, at what I felt was a reasonable price, considering the work to be done. They have a professional looking website, with photos of projects, and a section about how to avoid being ripped off by your contractor. Fast forward a couple of delays later to the end of May, 2018. I received an email that our project was ready to move forward, complete with a detailed check list on what to expect during my final walk-through meeting with company co-owner, Jim. This appointment got pushed also, but I received both an email and a phone call regarding this change. Now into early June, the day of the appointment arrived. My wife specifically took a half-day off of work to be able to meet with Jim, as we had to pick a stamped concrete design and finish. The appointment time arrived, and passed. There was no word from Jim. We waited until 30 minutes past the appointment time slot, gave up, and proceeded to go about our day, very angry at our wasted time. Jim was very clearly a no call/no show. Before we gave up on that appointment, I called the office, numerous times. It kept going to a voice mail box that was full, so I couldn't even leave a message. I immediately sent an email to Jim and Jenn (his wife and company co-owner). No response. There was no other way to contact this company, as they only list a PO Box in West Bend, WI. I located a possible physical address in Milwaukee for the business, and responded there, only to find out the business had moved out approximately 5 years prior. That's several very huge red flags right there. A co-worker of mine then located the most recent reviews here, which clearly demonstrate the company is having some major financial issues, as they apparently can't pay their suppliers. Fearful that the company was now unreachable and still had our $500 deposit from nearly 9 months prior, I assumed they had skipped town and we would never see our money or anyone from the company again. So now it's time for aggressive letter writing, basically the last option we have before exploring legal recovery options. So that is what I did. I sent certified letters to both the business PO Box and the home address for Jenn and Jim that I was able to locate. I sent copies of this letter to both of their email addresses. About 2 days later, Jenn calls me at home. She was apologetic and agreed to refund our $500 deposit, in person, in cash. She was not forthcoming with additional details or explanations, other than there have been personal problems that have worked their way into the business. Based on all available evidence, I have to conclude the likely scenario is: the husband/wife business owner team's marriage is probably falling apart, and they are taking the business down with them. If this sounds like an extremely unfortunate scenario, it's because it is. I learned a lot from this experience, and I am grateful that we were eventually able to recover our deposit. At least we didn't end up with liens placed on our property, like some other even more unfortunate customers. One last piece of advice for any readers before wrapping this up: in Wisconsin, "theft by contractor" is a criminal offense. While most situations like this would typically result in a civil suit between the parties, this is not the ONLY remedy available to those have been scammed. And one does not preclude the other. Customers who are out money can pursue both civil AND criminal charges against companies if needed. I made this point very clear in my letter to the company, and perhaps that had some effect in obtaining a refund of our deposit. I even took the step of talking with my local District Attorney's office to explain our specific situation. I was given some very helpful information and told that yes, they would have no problem criminally charging the company and its owners, if it became necessary. I'm glad the company (eventually) did right by us, by refunding our deposit, and we could both just walk away from each other at that point. My wife and I were just out our time, but we learned some very valuable lessons along the way. I would DEFINITELY steer clear of this company for the foreseeable future. Perhaps they will get back on track one day, but for now the issues are far too numerous to recommend them for anything.

    Everdry Waterproofing Wisconsin
When I bought my home, it included an EVERDRY home warranty. We had torrential downpours which flooded my basement. I called them and they are out right away. they dug out the wall where the leak was and completely rebuilt the wall. This has been 4 years ago and my basement is completely dry and has never flooded again.

Polished Concrete & Retaining Walls Inc
Everyone was hard-working & professional. I especially appreciate their care in keeping lawn damage to a minimum and cleaning up the yard and driveway each day. Workers answered my questions and kept me informed of what was planned for the day. Most important is that rain water will now drain AWAY from my house. So glad I had this done. No problems. Very satisfied.

TONY LALICATA & SON CEMENT CONTRACTOR
About as good of a major home expenditure experience as you can get! Tony was one of four cement contractors that I got estimates from. While work was expensive (over $12k), Tony's price was on the lower end and cheaper than two others by $2-$3k. More importantly, I had the best vibe from Tony and was most familiar with his work. He as done more than a few driveways in my subdivision and his work always stood out b/c it looked great, especially with his "signature finish"...picture frame edging on sides of driveway. Tony & Trish were very busy (job in spring), but responsive. He was also able to accelerate my project by 6-7 weeks on short notice and ad the green light to do this at time of estimate. Day 1 crew of 4-5 showed up on time and did amazing demolition and prep work: all old stuff removed with new crushed stone base on framing done in a day. Tony came at end of Day 1 to inspect and talk to make sure everything was the way we wanted it. Day 2 crew of 9-10 came and just cranked with Tony there the entire day. Amazing to watch the teamwork. Both crews were very nice and took the time to answer my questions which rose out of general curiosity. We had a good idea of what it would look like, but we are even happier than we thought we'd be with our new cement - definitely provides "pop" to our home's curb appeal.

    Cusatis Construction
Job exceeded all expectations! Marcus and his crew were very hard working and meticulous. Marcus made sure all the prep work was correct, the new concrete was minimally at a 5" thickness through out, and properly pitched and sealed. With heavy rains last summer, water was finally running away from our home and to the ditches, unlike the original driveway. True professionals. Many neighbors and friends have commented on how good the driveway looks. I highly recommend Cusatis Construction if you want your concrete job done correctly, looking great, and reasonably priced.

    JBS Construction
Looks beautiful. Team was on time, respectful, responsive to our needs, cleaned up thoroughly when done. They asked the right questions to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. The pitch of the concrete was done perfectly in each area.

    Povlick Excavating Inc
They have all kinds of people who work there. They did a good job. The price was in the ballpark. A lot of these paving companies don't do residential, so you are kind of limited for what you get. They were really good at responding in the beginning, and then after they were done and we had questions, they became hard to respond. We almost had to report them to the BBB before we got anybody to do anything.

We were not 100% happy with those people, but they did a good job. In the beginning, they were really prompt. We had some slopping issues and some cracks that happened after. We weren't sure if it was something that was not right or just the nature of the cement, so then they really stopped communicating with us. I don't know if the whole follow through was good. I don't think I would recommend them because of that. At first they were real prompt about getting to you, before you pay and before they do the work, but the follow through was really bad.

The person that we were doing business with had some real issues. When we threatened to complain against them, and the older guy who was actually the owner, came over and apologized. He answered everything. He himself was good, but the people that we were dealing with before he showed up, were not very good. In the end it turned out okay, but it caused a lot of headaches. The owner's son who was the CEO of the company, was not very good, and hardly had a personality.

We had a whole crew come out to complete the work. There might have been four people pouring the cement and doing the grading. Two people came back to do the retaining wall. It took a couple of days and they left the area good. The quality of what we paid for was really good. The slopping they said they were going to do is still working.

When they said they were coming, they came. Obviously cement has to do with weather. I think they postponed it one time because of rain. Once it got dry enough for them to pour, they came, and the whole thing was done in a day. The retaining wall was done one day after the driveway. They were real nice and had a different crew for that.

We were able to get everything resolved, it was just a hassle. I don't want them to be in a bad situation either because of our experience.

If we needed another driveway I might go with somebody else because of that. We went with them because of their ratings and they were a BBB company. We had a lot of response when we were asking a bunch of questions before the contract got signed. Once we signed the contract, they came when they said they would, and after they left, and we had some questions about some things, the person we dealt with just made it a bad experience. Then the company president made it right after that. It took 3-4 months after the fact to get that resolved. It was kind of an ordeal. My first impression of them was very nice and we were impressed, then it turned sour.
