    Pratt's Professional Chimney Service
The owner came out, went in the basement, in the home, and up on the roof. He determined our home doesn't even need a chimney anymore and to knock it down! They were too busy to do it this year, but said my husband could do it himself. FINALLY an honest down to earth company that isn't trying to rip people off. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs chimney work done, cleaning, anything!!! We were so impressed.

    The Chimney Expert
We had water leaking inside our chimney when it would rain. We quoted with another company, but they were slightly more expensive and it would have taken them 4 weeks to make repairs. The Chimney Expert was able to fix our chimney right away and they were very professional. We would definitely recommend them!

    Butler Chimneys LLC
As a contractor myself I rarely hire out other people to do work for me, however, given some of the specialty equipment necessary chimney cleanings and the potential for the DIY'er to make a mess of things, I opted to hire out this work. Butler Chimney's technician (Corey) was punctual. He took care in making sure my home looked just as is did before his arrival and start of work. After the inspection and cleaning Corey made some recommendations along with giving some timelines for when some of these things needed to be done. I informed him I appreciated his honesty about some of the fixes and minor things that he found wrong.

    Quality Fireplace & Chimney Service
Quality Fireplace ROOF & Chimney Service turned out pretty well, they did a good job. In the inspection, they found out that we had cracks in the masonry and the top of the chimney cap was rusting. I t however took a while to get things done, but i guess it was because they had a special order. they had to have that cap custom made. They were very professional.

They did an inspection of two fireplaces and chimneys in a house I was
purchasing in July, 2014. They gave me detailed information and answered
all of my questions. They let me know that one chimney was probably
never going to work and gave alternatives to install a gas insert, even
though they don't do that service.
I called them again in January, 2015, to look at one of my fireplaces which was blowing a lot
of cold air into my house. Ed came out on the same day. He wasn't able
to offer any viable solutions, but reassured me that it was not
operating improperly. There was no charge for this visit.
I will have some work done by them in the summer of 2015 to repair a cracked chimney cap.

I receiveThey arrived on time and were very friendly.  The work was done promptly and I received the service they promised.  They worked on the chimney cap in November and the weather did not cooperate.  When it warmed up they performed the service I asked for and again the weather made it miserable.  I know you cannot control the weather and I understood need for safety with snow on the roof.  My home is a two story so I did not want anyone falling off the roof.  I am very pleased with the workmanship and price of services that I received.  They were easy to work with.

Initial response and repairs appeared to go well. Appearance of repaired areas looked very good.

Unfortunately after 2 years we started seeing areas of failure of the repaired areas. Parts of the chimney

cap repair areas were starting to crack. In spring of 2014 the repaired areas of the chimney caps were starting to fall

off. We contacted D & J and Jim came out to inspect the problem in early May of 2014. Jim told us at the time

that D &J would fix the problem areas because the previous work was still under warranty. Unfortunately after

several follow up attempts and one summer later D &J never got back to us. Our chimney's continue to deteriorate

and look worse than ever. So much for our $7000.00 investment.

They did a great job.  They were on time and very quick at getting the work done.  I wasn't planning on having a chimney cap installed, but purchased one and asked if they would install it while they were up at the top.  They did with no additional charge.

    Guardian Home Exteriors
The anticipated start date was April 15, and they started right on time.  I don't recall how long the roof took all together, but I think it took two weeks to complete.  Next was the tear-off of the outside of the house.  They offered us a discount to tear off one layer ourselves, so we saved $1,600 to do so.  The layer that we tore off was steel siding, and Guardian provided the dumpster to dispose of the materials.  The layer beneath was wood siding, and they tore that off in about three days, and covered the entire house with Tyvek wrap, and then 1" of foam core insulation.  There was one crew to do the roof, and then a separate crew did the house and garage.  What we liked was that we got to know the workers pretty well by name since it was always the same crew.  They cleaned up every day, which was critical to us because we have two young grandchildren staying with us for a few months, one of whom is almost three years old and plays outside all day.

Anyway, they installed the trim first, and then the siding.  While installing the trim, they noticed a huge area in a corner of our home where the studs and insulation had gotten so wet that the corner was in danger of collapsing.  We knew that previously some work had been done in that corner, and we saw water spots from time to time on the inside, but we had no idea until they opened up that wall how bad the damage was.  They took many pictures, explained what our options were, and repaired the damaged corner safely in three days.  This extra work did cost us additional money, but imagine what the cost would have been if they simply sided over the rotted wood, which was supporting two more brand new picture windows (one facing either direction)!

The workers, Paul, Scott and Karen, as well as their manager, Joe Martis, were very courteous and friendly to our family at all times.  They brought their own cooler of bottled water each day, so they didn't even accept our offer of free beverages.  The job was quite large, so it ran into June, but we were told of that back in April, so we knew exactly what to expect.  It was not a good weather spring, so we were very happy with the length of the project.  When the project was complete, they cleaned up every speck of scrap material, dust, etc. in our yard.

We would recommend them to anyone with an exterior remodeling project.  My wife still cannot believe the transformation of our 57-year old house.  Now we have the landscaping ahead of us for next year.  Thank you for the opportunity to share our experience.
