    About 500 sq/ft. Of tile and black mastic was removed. Bob came and gave the estimate. He was EXTREMELY responsive throughout the entire process. His openness to questions and feedback are unparalleled in contractors I've worked with. I used his direct cell number a couple times to get information without delay. In terms of the work. Youtube the process people follow for removing black mastic from concrete. This is a gross job and I'm happy to pay people to do it. The crew was led by Julio who was exceptional (didn't get all of their names, but Edy was there, too). I would have him come and work in my house again. The crew showed up on time and took care of a messy job. A surprise feature. Julio sent me pictures before, during and after the process. I felt more confident that they took time to protect my property that was in the basement after seeing how they encased the space. After everything was cleaned up we discovered that the floor had many small pits in it. A thousand? These tiny little hole still contained some of the tar-like mastic residue. I pointed that out after the fact and the crew came back and has basically refused to do anything be exceptional work. I told Bob and Julio both that I was fine, but they want it to be great. They hold themselves to a high standard. They have gone above and beyond on a project full of hiccups, for a somewhat demanding homeowner. Bob was very open to my thoughts and feelings as I'm not very knowledgable in this area. I hope you don't need to have "Hazardous Materials" removed. If you do, make sure you at least give Julio and Bob a call to see if they can do the job. You will not be disappointed. Also my wife says, "They were very polite hardworking young men."

    Mike Gallagher was amazing to work with! He has a pleasant personality and was very honest throughout the various things that we hired him to do for us. His quotes always covered everything that he said they would. He was always prompt to arrive for jobs, accurate in how long each job would take, and then always charged us the exact amount that he had quoted. Mike was not only super knowledgable about radon and how to resolve our home issues to make it a safe place for us to live, he was also extremely respectful to do his work in a neat manner and then he left the areas more clean than he found them. We highly recommend Mike Gallagher's services as we were very thankful that our realtor had recommended him to us! We could not be more pleased at all of the help he has given to us! One additional bonus.... he continues to offer us assistance and support long after he completed his initial work.     I felt that Dan completely took advantage of the situation.  I asked for him to come and help figure out where the moldy smell was coming from and he ended up staying for much longer than anticipated, often telling stories and working hard to make sure that the entire inspection took much longer than it needed to.  5 hours later, we still didn't know for sure what was causing the smell, but we did have to pay a $700 fee.  I would never use his services again and would recommend that you don't as well.
    It's now two years later and we just found out there is mold in our living room wall.  Dan completely missed it.

    We have had a bad smell off and on in our living room for the past 2 years.  We hired another "mold specialist" who walked through our entire house, stayed for 5 hours, overcharged us and didn't even test for mold.  He told us to change our carpeting which we did, but the smell came back.  That's when we called Martine.
    Martine was very punctual in getting back to me about scheduling an appointment.  When she came to our home, she was incredibly friendly and helpful.  She focused on the wall that the smell was coming from and took two tests.  She also took a sample in our basement ceiling which was under the wall that we were concerned about.  She is obviously an expert in her field. She mentioned that she teaches other people about mold testing so she really knows her stuff.  She called me the personally the next afternoon with the results of the tests and e-mailed the information as well.  It turned out that we did have mold in our wall all along!   
    I hired a company to come in and do a mold remediation.  They spoke with Martine throughout the process.  Martine even came back after the remediation was complete to make sure the mold was gone.  She found a few traces and called the company personally to let them know her findings.  She also didn't charge any extra for the second trip to my home.  
    I would highly recommend Martine to anyone and everyone.  Don't call anyone else!  No one could be better - she is truly top notch!

    Everything went very well. There *was* a water mitigation system installed when the original deck was installed (by second owners of the house) to direct water accumulation from the footprint of the deck away from the house with heavy duty plastic sheeting and rock on top, which channeled water to a drain, but this was apparently not enough, as  water from beyond the deck would also soak the ground from underneath and get to the house. We considered several other mitigation plans from other companies (most of which included a complete refit of the basement to put in wall panels and let water leaks continue (guided to drain tile) but Zander's solution seemed to be best as it stopped the problem at the root cause. They did not try to sell you a package - only to point out what they believed was the problem and their best solution - which we agreed with. I would definitely recommend then and go with them again without hesitation.

    I hired Zander to install a radon mitigation system in my four year old Veridian home, which had a radon level of 9. I found them based on the fact that they are now contracted to install radon systems in new Veridian homes, but back in 2010 that was not standard for that builder.
    My contact at Zander was Corey Benson. I was very pleased with his answering of my questions beforehand and his price estimate was $850 in my case, based on what he knew about Veridian construction. Because I have existing construction, he presented me with options such as running the radon pipe from the basement up through the garage from a hole that could be drilled in the basement corner floor - which we decided on going with.
    The installer's name was Brian, who I was informed does most/all of their Veridian installations. The work was flawless - no mess and the system is very unobtrusively stuck in the basement and garage corner. Brian did all of the work in under four hours, including the roof protrusion and installing the attic outlet for the pump fan (and wiring it into the garage door opener circuit). Drilling the hole into the basement floor left no dust. He even offered to help me move a few pieces of furniture out of the basement corner where he needed to work. After the work was done, I looked over each part of it and had a lot of questions - which he very happy to answer.
    They came back and tested after a week and my radon level came back under 1 (about .5). So I am recommending the team of Corey and Brian for radon remediation based on professionalism, quality, and results.

    As planned, work on the project started October 14th and ended about 2 months later, about a month later than anticipated.  Some weeks only a few hours of work was done and this was frustrating.  Delays were attributable to the following: our Sterling Accord tub and surround (which we love) arrived damaged and had to be replaced; we ordered a custom vanity from Kemper that took additional time, our carpenter was injured in a car accident and another carpenter had to be called in, and an incorrect granite vanity top was installed and had to be re-cut and replaced. Also, we were picky and had subs return to address finishes and work that was not done to our expectations. Curt added a considerable amount of blocking, per our request, for secure placement of mirrors, towel bars, etc; he also replaced a tub spout that was part of a shower set because we thought that the original spout was oddly

    shaped and esthetically poor.

    NONETHELESS, Curt always agreed with our concerns and, without any hesitation, had his subs return to finish the job to our standards.   Curt also did additional work in our master bathroom (electrical, new fan, drywall repair, paint and new mirror), front door lock installation and  really cool LED lighting on our hall steps for a very reasonable price.    Curtis a highly personable man with a strong commitment to please the customer.  We never had a negative interaction with Curt and he proved quite accommodating.  Curt has a good aesthetic and practical design sense.   His wife is a designer and specialist in kitchen/bathroom

    products and proved quite helpful on several occasions when she accompanied Curt on site.   My wife and I enjoyed our time with both of them.   It felt like we had a very active role in every stage of the remodel and we appreciated Curt's sensitivity to our preferences.

    Weinterviewed four other well-rated Angie's List contractors before interviewing Curt; we did not go with them because they either did not listen well, were dismissive of our preferences, or were priced exceptionally high.  One highly rated person, after visiting our home, would not take the job because he worked alone and felt his knees could not handle the bathtub installation in a tri-level.  The

    bottom line is that Time 2 Remodel delivered the product we wanted, at an affordable price  and we are very pleased with it.  The process was delayed but well worth it.

    3. I was present at the inspections of both the home I sold and the home I purchased, but I don't think that implies that I should know how to inspect the home or use the equipment that Brian used. In fact, it's not a requirement that the homeowner or realtor attend the inspection. It's recommended so that the inspector can provide basic information about the home and how the various appliances/systems function. I relied on the expertise and experience that Brian states on his website that he has, as well as the information on his website stating that he uses state of the art equipment that other inspectors do not use to uncover potential hidden issues when I selected him to pre-inspect my home for sale and inspect the home I was purchasing. I wasn't aware that I was expected to have this expertise myself as a homebuyer who saw two inspections. In fact, we relied on Brian's claims so heavily that we chose to have him inspect the home we were looking at purchasing rather than the inspector our realtor recommended. Additionally, Brian was at the home we were looking at purchasing at least FIVE times: on 11/26 for the initial inspection, on 11/27 to inspect the attic, on 11/28 to pick up his radon testing equipment (I don't remember when he set up the equipment), in January when we were notified by the realtor of the crack in the foundation, and again a few days later in January to re-inspect the items that he did catch during his inspection that the homeowner had repaired. The fact that we had him come back to reinspect the items the homeowner fixed should demonstrate how much we relied on his expertise and impartiality (ie, we believed he would tell us if the fixes were done and done correctly) and our own lack of expertise and faith in the contractors to do things well/right. 4. The information he provided about the roof is probably the most frustrating part of Brian's response. Yes, it was November in Wisconsin and he did state that there was frost on the UPPER roof, so he did not walk on it. However, I was present to see him inspect the lower roof from the roof. He also indicated in his report that the roof was inspected from the roof and again that only the upper roof had frost present, so he was clearly able to inspect the lower roof and he was able to view the upper roof. Pictures in the report taken by Brian show that if there was frost on the roof, which I didn't question, it was light and that he did in fact walk on the lower roof and look at the upper roof. He did put in his report that we should have a roofer look at the roof with safety equipment if we wanted someone to actually walk on the roof, but he told me and the realtor that it wasn't necessary. He didn't see anything to cause him concern. I'm not a roofing expert and I know that replacing a roof is not cheap. I also know that any roofer or the prior homeowners insurance company would have come to look inspect the roof for free, so does it really make sense that we wouldn't have done one or both of these had Brian said it was something we really should do, rather than just a 'cover my butt' line in a 30 page report, which also contained indications that the roof had been viewed from the roof, not the ground or a ladder at the eaves and that there was only normal granule loss and was in overall satisfactory condition (satisfactory being the best option available). We relied on Brian as an impartial expert believing that the owners homeowners insurance would err on the side that the roof was fine so that they did not need to pay out on a claim and that a roofer would err on the side that the roof had issues requiring replacement. This reliance based on Brian's claims of 30 years working in all aspects of the construction business and thousands of homes inspected. In addition to all of this, it should be noted that at no point while Brian and I were going back and forth via email regarding our situation in this home did he ever make mention of what he included in his report or give any indication that he felt he had no blame because he recommended we have a roofer look at the roof and we made the choice not to take his advice. In fact, I brought up the information in the report because I had my insurance company send me pictures of the damage only on the lower portion of the roof (which I forwarded to Brian on 5/28) to show the damage was on the portion he stated in his report he inspected. 5. I initially contacted Brian in mid May via phone regarding the issues we had with water in the basement and the roof. We actually only found out about the roof because of the water in the basement, so it's untrue that he was not made aware of the water infiltration issue. We had no further face to face or voice contact with Brian after that phone call. I left several messages for him which were never returned. We did have intermittent email contact, the last of which was an email that I sent to him on 7/29 that he did not respond to, not the 7/1 email he mentioned below. 7/1 was his last communication to us indicating that he was forwarding information to his insurance company but that he also wanted to have his roofer look at the roof. Brian emailed me on 5/24 saying he was sorry for the delay, he was out of town but was back and would be sending a roofer to look at the roof. On 6/11 he emailed again saying that Troy from ProRoofing would be stopping out that week. No one stopped. On 6/17 he emailed again apologizing that he had been in the hospital and that he and Troy would definitely be coming that week. Again no one came. I emailed him numerous times during this time trying to get updates on the status. I also emailed him on 6/12 expressing my frustration with how long this had been dragging on with no resolution and my frustration at the major misses in our inspection, including the crack in the foundation, the roof damage and the water infiltration on the finished side of the basement. On 7/16, I contacted Troy at ProRoofing. He had no idea who I was, but came to look at the roof on 7/17 and provided me with a report on 7/18 indicating extensive hail damage on all parts of the roof, including the lower portion Brian did inspect. I forwarded this report to Brian on 7/29 with the email mentioned above. 6. With respect to the crack in the foundation, yes, the basement walls are covered with drywall. However that is a moot point because the crack is clearly visible from the exterior of the home, so whether the walls were covered or the homeowners possessions were still present doesn't matter. Brian found and documented a nearly identical crack on the front of the house. Are inspectors not required to inspect the visible foundation either? 7. I can appreciate that Brian has a high customer satisfaction percentage, but I think that can be attributed to luck and timing. In fact, were it not for the water infiltration we had in April, leading us to remove the floor and uncover the extensive mold issues, which upon further investigation and removal of portions of the walls and ceiling showed that the water infiltration was an existing issue with the basement walls/flooring and the roof/chimney/fireplace, we wouldn't have known about the roof or the basement issues. Ironically, there was a significant hail storm in the area on 7/22, the week following ProRoofing's evaluation of the roof as damaged. We would never have known of any pre-existing basement issue because there were a high number of homes that had water infiltration in this area in the spring due to the drought in 2012 and heavy rain in 2013 and we wouldn't have known of the pre-existing hail damage because we are not roofing experts. We have never and probably will never inspect the roof ourselves and we believed we had no reason to have anyone else inspect it. Thus we would have thought Brian's inspection had been thorough and accurate. I can say that based upon my interactions with Brian since our issues were uncovered, he has not demonstrated the business integrity or customer service I would expect from someone who claims to have as much expertise and experience and as high of a satisfaction rating as he does. Had he told me it wasn't his problem from the beginning, citing his report, or actually tried to help resolve the situation as he claimed he was trying to do in his emails, my evaluation would be very different. Anyone can make a mistake. It's how we deal with those mistakes that show who we really are. To say now that he is sorry, but there is nothing else he could have done differently is little consolation. We can't go back in time and have the home inspected by someone else to see if the issues would've been caught. Either way, I think we did the best we could to try to be thorough. As homeowners, I think we were at least twice as thorough as most other people would be, which is what frustrates me the most. Every single person we've talked to about our issues - friends, family, contractors, insurance adjusters, and realtors - has asked us if we had the house inspected and why this wasn't caught and every single one has thought the inspector should be held liable. So there's obviously a huge discrepancy between the services people think inspectors provide and those they actually do provide or hold themselves accountable for providing, which appears to be essentially nothing. I think this is a major education issue for perspective homeowners and realtors.

    Everything went very well indeed. The owner of the company came out to test our basement, the radon level was not too high, within the expected, however we wanted to have the radon fan extract system installed. he quoted us a price which we felt was very reasonable and within the week the system was installed. He came back to check all was going well 2 week later which it was. I would recommend this company to anyone seeking radon testing and if needed the radon extraction fan installed.
