Basement & Foundation reviews in Verona

We had Maple Tree Builders finish our basement. Ron was a pleasure to work with. He is easy to reach and is prompt with his responses. We are pleased with the quality of his workmanship. Ron had good ideas and suggestions when we were designing the layout and interior. During the middle of the project, our basement flooded. Ron went above and beyond to help organize the remediation. He was also very flexible and accommodating with last minute changes to designs. We plan to work with him in the future for any remodeling needs in other parts of our house.

The Overall I purchased a house with their tile work already completed. It seems to be successfully keeping my basement dry. The service technician I worked with was excellent, I expect to continue to have their services performed. In addition we attempted to work with them to do estimates on an egress window, tile removal, and full basement remodel. I don't plan on proceeding with additional projects with them. 1. They are consistently the highest cost option. 2. The two sales reps we have work with have been unsatisfactory at communication and converting our goals into a plan of actions. Their price could be justified if you (a) believe they have a superior product [which they might] and (b) they add considerable value in planning/service [which we haven't seen]. If they don't list "John X" as a reference on their promo info. I will happily share my experiences to help ensure you know what to expect. The good. 1. Their phone support in the office is excellent. Friendly people take my calls. 2. They installed a dry basement system in my house for the previous owner. It seems to work. 3. I have the perception they offer quality products that are well thought out to work in basement situations. 4. The service tech that came to our house (4/6/18) was excellent. 5. I think if I wanted just their line of products in their proprietary line they could do a job, but... The Bad. 1. ... if you want them to do anything outside of their wheelhouse they seem to stall and not know how to leverage sub contractors. We asked for comprehensive remodeling, but struggled a lot with leveraging other skilled labor. 2. The estimates we have received don't incorporate the goals and desires we feel that we expressed. My perception has been that they try to sell their main lines of products instead of trying to meet our goals. They will send you a packet of promo info... it will show you their main lines. 3. The time/effort it took to get the initial estimates seems to make it prohibitive to try to work with them to get to a place where we want to be. 3. Terrible follow-through at the sales rep level. We have had two people come to give estimates. The first in Feb 2017 (Chris G), who we never heard back from. Then again in Feb 2018 (Brian K) and it has involved "badgering" to get any sort of movement. 4. Price. Always the highest price when we had multiple estimates.

The work was exceptional in every respect! The quality of workmanship is top-notch, and it was done on time and within budget. Ron and Emma are super nice and great to work with. We would hire them again in an instant!

Greg came out on a Saturday to walk the premises and point out the areas at each of the 16 units which needed to be lifted to again have even surfaces. He even showed where the concrete would have to be put to produce the proper raise. He provided an immediate proposal, which was about 50% of the other two proposals we had, which did not even include all the units. Chrysta kept us apprised of Greg's schedule, and gave us several days' notice of the date he would be on-site to commence the work. Greg showed up with his crew, and completed the entire job in one day. Holes were drilled, slurry pumped and clean-up done. Greg worked with his crew during the entire day. They were professional, hard-working, and the completed job looks great. Greg even returned the next day to see that everything looked great. Greg was recommended by another company, and I am so pleased that they shared the name with us. We could not have asked for a better experience.

It went very well.  In addition to having a plan we hand-drawn out, we had some very unique requests such as a book-shelf door and a mini-house under the stairs for children to play in.  The basement ended up beautiful, and they walked us through all options very well so we could decide where we wanted to spend more or less.  They coordinated all specialties as well - plumbing, electric, painting, which made it very easy to complete the project!

Work and workers were all fine. Had a hard time getting follow up from sales guys though. Sounds like we slipped through the cracks, which I get, but I ended up having to speak with the boss to get things moving. Once I did that everything was fine again.

Everything went very well. There *was* a water mitigation system installed when the original deck was installed (by second owners of the house) to direct water accumulation from the footprint of the deck away from the house with heavy duty plastic sheeting and rock on top, which channeled water to a drain, but this was apparently not enough, as  water from beyond the deck would also soak the ground from underneath and get to the house. We considered several other mitigation plans from other companies (most of which included a complete refit of the basement to put in wall panels and let water leaks continue (guided to drain tile) but Zander's solution seemed to be best as it stopped the problem at the root cause. They did not try to sell you a package - only to point out what they believed was the problem and their best solution - which we agreed with. I would definitely recommend then and go with them again without hesitation.

I hired Zander to install a radon mitigation system in my four year old Veridian home, which had a radon level of 9. I found them based on the fact that they are now contracted to install radon systems in new Veridian homes, but back in 2010 that was not standard for that builder.
My contact at Zander was Corey Benson. I was very pleased with his answering of my questions beforehand and his price estimate was $850 in my case, based on what he knew about Veridian construction. Because I have existing construction, he presented me with options such as running the radon pipe from the basement up through the garage from a hole that could be drilled in the basement corner floor - which we decided on going with.
The installer's name was Brian, who I was informed does most/all of their Veridian installations. The work was flawless - no mess and the system is very unobtrusively stuck in the basement and garage corner. Brian did all of the work in under four hours, including the roof protrusion and installing the attic outlet for the pump fan (and wiring it into the garage door opener circuit). Drilling the hole into the basement floor left no dust. He even offered to help me move a few pieces of furniture out of the basement corner where he needed to work. After the work was done, I looked over each part of it and had a lot of questions - which he very happy to answer.
They came back and tested after a week and my radon level came back under 1 (about .5). So I am recommending the team of Corey and Brian for radon remediation based on professionalism, quality, and results.

We have used Brad for similar work in the past.  He is always conscientious and personable.  Brad understood what we were looking to do but he still took the time to review his work plans and results on a daily basis.  The results of his work are always excellent.  He carefully pulled trees and shrubs making every attempt to extract the root system.  Then he smoothed over each disturbed area with the backhoe.  In areas with significant activity he used his bobcat to completely smooth the grade.
