I called the office on a Wednesday afternoon and explained my cats symptoms and my suspicion of hyperthyroidism. I was given an appointment for 9 am the next day. We arrived a few minutes early and were immediately taken into the exam room. The veterinarian, Dr. Buchberger, and his assistant weighed my cat, examined him and listened to the list of symptoms I'd noticed. He agreed it was possible and tested for the most likely culprits due to cats age and ordered them in a way to keep costs down. By Friday morning my cat had a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and a six week supply of medication from the on site pharmacy. In four weeks his levels will be checked to see what if any adjustments are needed with medication. The whole experience went smoothly and I felt comfortable with my cats care in their hands. They listened to my concerns and explained everything. They were affordable and I will take my other animals there for care if needed.

    DANDY DOG PET GROOMING
I have a dog with a long coat, she is Labrador/Retriever mix. I know some say long coated dogs shouldn't be shaved in summer as it affects their ability to cool off. That may be true for some however I have a rescue dog who disagrees. The first summer we had her she was miserable. After a grooming where her coat was thinned and shortened she seemed far more comfortable. This is now a summer ritual that she LOVES. She jumps out of our van and runs into the shop. She loves the grooming, and adores the attention. She came out with a smooth velvety coat, smelling fresh, with nails that didn't scratch us up. She had a pretty orange, yellow and red flower on one ear.( I personally love the bows and hair pretties she comes out in and always take a picture.) Its hard to resist constantly petting her because her coat is so soft and clean. Our 5 year old wants to snuggle on her to smell her and rub her coat. That's a fresh clean dog. Because we live in the woods pine sap is a regular nuisance that they completely removed. They are also very accommodating. My Husband and I were having a crazy day and ran late picking her up, not getting there until ten minutes after closing. They were very understanding and nice about our being late. I will continue to use and recommend them

    DANDY DOG PET GROOMING
I have used Dandy Dog for 4 years. They usually do a superb job. I've never had problems. I especially love how beautiful his paws look. This time my dog came home with a few nicks (not bad) and his hair on his rump and a spot on his tail was shaved to nearly the skin. I didn't really mind at the time. But now that the hair has grown back part way (this is May 2013) those spots are rusty brown colored (he is black) the hair is coarse textured and very thin - you can still see his skin. I will still give them another chance. I've never had issues before. I also have not alerted them to this issue yet but I will when I bring my dog in soon for his summer clip. I wrote a previous review for an A and I don't want anyone to think that this groomer is less than ideal. My dog is a perfect gentleman; they've said he is the easiest dog they've ever had to groom. One mistake is not going to make me change my loyalties. But I thought it fair to inform customers of both my good and bad experiences.

    Foster and Smith Inc
I visit Foster and Smith's onsite pet store frequently. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This time I was looing for grooming supplies for my dog and the sales assistant helped me pick out ear wipes and medicated shampoos. They are always focused on providing prompt service and are knowledgable about the products.

We had a great experience taking our dog into see Dr Katie Hom. After not really getting answers or effective treatment from a previous vet, Dr. Hom was wonderful (kind, calm, caring, patient) with our dog and she quickly diagnosed the problem (histiocytoma). She prescribed an ointment that finally helped the lesion to heal after weeks of it looking quite raw. The Rhinelander office is very well run...they're prompt, organized and really on top of things. Just seeing the way that everyone (staff and vets) handled their "patients" and the owners, gave me a lot of confidence in this veterinary practice!!

We took our cat in to have her teeth cleaned because she had terrible breath and wasn't eating dry food like she had in the past. She had ultrasonic scaling, sedatives, anesthesia, pain meds, two extractions, and antibiotics that were sent home. The office isn't the newest or slickest practice in town, but they did a fantastic job. They were very caring, kept us updated on how she was doing, and our cat didn't appear phased by the whole experience. Even with the extractions, she seemed back to normal (actually better than normal) almost immediately. The horrible smelling breath...totally gone! She started eating more dry food and completely gone is the occasional throwning up after eating her food. We priced out dental cleaning at several veterinarian's practices around town and this was the most reasonable we came across. I'll definitely take her back to have this done annually.

Dr. Goodroad was our vet for our dog and two cats.  He has a very nice, clean office, BUT that just doesn't make up for the amount of time you have to wait during your appointment.  The last time we went to take our cat in for a required exam prior to being able to schedule a teeth cleaning (not sure why that was necessary), I waited with a very unhappy, anxious cat for ONE HOUR before without seeing the doctor.  Finally, I left and told the staff that this was the final straw for me.
In the past, when we've taken our dog in, we've had similar wait times. Once Dr. Goodroad does show up, he talks and talks and talks...going far too in depth (detailed textbook info. rather than really useful advice that applies to your animal) and not quite getting to the point quick enough. I have often been frustrated leaving his office due to ridiculous wait times and having to listen to his "impressive medical knowledge" ad nauseam.
On a previous visit with our other cat, I waited 50 minutes to see Dr. Goodroad.  Prior to that when the cat was quite around 9 months old it had an issue with it's front paw.  It could hardly walk on the front paw, limped and wouldn't play.  Dr. Goodroad actually said that it wasn't the front paw, but the back paw. We tried to argue, but he was the vet and knew best.  He thought it was a degenerative joint issue and prescribed Cosequin.  When it didn't improve we took her back and after pushing the issue we convinced Dr. Goodroad that it wasn't the back foot, but rather the front.  He prescribed antibiotics (three different times over the course of approx. 5 weeks) for a possible infected paw.   I don't believe that really helped either, but possibly it didn't hurt the cat, just our wallets.  After a couple of months of limping, the issue resolved itself.  I don't think Dr. Goodroad ever correctly diagnosed the problem (oh, and she doesn't have degenerative joint disease).  Overall, it's been a frustrating experience and we have completely switched vets!!   My advice to Dr. Goodroad would be to schedule fewer patients if he insists on talking so much during each visit, but when he does talk he should try to be concise and to the point.  Generally, he should try to talk less and listen more.
